‪Laugh out loud times had by all in our group. Be prepared for outdoor pursuits but if your mindset is right you will have a blast. Afterwards got warmed up beside the log burner and enjoyed some good grub.‬

‪We traveled to Balmichael in a Family Group, including two young Children both under 5 years old. It's fair to say that the Children really had good fun, but we Adults noted some safety issues which were down to the age of the facilities in the Park. Some of the Adults had a try on the Go Carts (self pedaled) and those Carts which were working were good fun. Sadly there were quite a few Carts which were "out of service".
The cost of entry for a Family Group of 7 Adults and 2 Children was very reasonable.
The reason I am giving Balmichael a 4 Star Rating is mainly because we had lunch in the Balmichael Cafe/Restaurant. The food was very good and the people running the Centre were just so nice and friendly. Nothing was any problem. The price of the food was again very reasonable. They were great with the Children and gave them free fries while they waited on their food, They really wanted everyone to enjoy their food. We were made very welcome.‬

‪We travelled over to Arran to visit this "attraction". Only one bouncy pillow was blown up, the go-karts were all broken, no ice skating, the pole to jump off wasn't in use, the grass sledging was over grown. The full amount to be paid for 2 adults and 2 kids was £20, the staff member said since it was quiet he would only charge £15. Quiet? It was an utter disappointment fir the kids. We basically paid money for the ferry, bus and then the family fun park... The website for this place could not be any more misleading. False advertising at it's best. ‬

‪We had seen the family park advertised on lots of leaflets and we thought it would be a great day out.
When we arrived at the car park the kids where super excited. We payed £20. For us all to enter the FUN park! when we arrived we thought we had arrived at the wrong place. We actually went back out to see if we had took a wrong turn but no we had not.
We arrived to a very tired over grown and unloved FUN park that probably was quiet fun the day it opened.
Not to be deterred me and my partner decided we would all have a turn of the go karts. Unfortunately there was only two that was working. The grass sledging was a dangerous. The skating park was a go kart grave yard. There was one large bouncy pillow which the kids played on and the climbing frames etc was also very dated. Over all the park was rubbish and we payed £20. For the kids To jump on bouncy pillow. The kids where deflated to say the least. I found it false advertising over priced and just awful but the staff where really friendly.‬

‪We had seen the sign for the Balmichael Centre when we were driving back to our lodge and thought it would be perfect to entertain our two young children. However, when we arrived we didn't actually think it was open as it looked in a state of disrepair. The Centre is not set up to take card payment and we had limited cash with us. The owner (who seemed lovely) told us we could access the park as we were buying lunch with what cash we had. The fun park looked completely neglected. Only one of the bouncy pillows was operating, only two go karts could be used as the rest had punctures or broken chains and the ice rink was filled with more broken go karts. The slide was so busy as really there was nothing else for people to do. I understand that the park is up for sale, however it is clearly not being maintained fully and therefore children are not able to have a fun and safe experience. If we had paid for access to the park, I would have demanded my money back.‬

‪This is my first ever negative review and negative words don't come easy to me however I have to say I was very unimpressed with this so called family park in Arran. Myself and a friend took our 4 kids to the park for a fun morning out whilst our husbands played a round of golf. I had seen lots of flyers advertising the park and was looking forward to the range of activities on offer.. The largest jumping pillow, ice rink, cinema, animals to name but a few. I'm from the Aberdeen area and have visited some excellent family fun parks including muddy boots and carne fruit farm in Fife, hoodies and wyndford farm in Aberdeenshire and others so I thought I knew what I was expecting. This however was very disappointing. It was £20 for entry, the large pillow was uninflated, the other pillow was inflated but filthy, the cinema, ice rink and martial arts room were locked, there was a couple of carts and glass sledging but the grass hadn't been cut so getting to them and getting them to work was more effort than it was worth. The play equipment was very tired and frankly unsafe looking and again the grass in the play area was ankle high, not much fun on a rainy morning in Arran. The staff were very friendly though and pointed out some baby ducks on the river... Nothing we couldn't and didn't see for free in many other spots in Arran. I'm sorry, but I was really dissapointed with the park and felt a real urge to tell others of my experience before they wasted money. The idea of the park and the potential is great and I hope that it reaches it some day but until then I definitely won't return.‬

Way to go Emma B, you've made all of the 5 and 4 star reviewers look like liars. If we are so bad, I can't but help wonder why there aren't more like you around. Especially, since we all know that people are FAR more likely to voice negative things than positive. Imagine if we could get more the people who tell us to our FACE how much they like the place on here; man, we'd surely win some kind of award! I love how you complain about everything here, but never said anything to us. I love self-proclaimed crusaders like yourself. Good on ya for getting out there and saving the world from the big bad family fun park. ha Your said, "this is my first ever negative review...", which is to also say, it's your only review here. We certainly don't see you going out of your way to talk about the good things in your life you've experienced? As I said, statistically, people are far more likely to post negative, and yet, you're among the MINORITY on our page. You also noted that "negative words don't come easy to you"; I'd beg the differ. Seems like you did just fine. At any rate, you came on a nasty weather day, was advised to go look first before you bought tickets, was warned before hand that you should probably consider going somewhere indoors since it was raining, got a discount, and then complains. Nice. But before I just let it be... Let's extrapolate your less than flattering "review" of our place. 1) You came on a Rainy day. It was really not a fun time to be outside for anyone. What exactly did you expect? It was nasty out. Why even say something like, "...not much fun on a rainy morning in Arran." You don't say? Really? lol 2) Cinema was locked. Yep, sure was. And why was it locked? Simple, it wasn't open until the showing that day, which was sign posted. And, why in the world would we leave it unlocked so you could just walk in with muddy or wet feet, unsupervised, to do what exactly? Did you read the sign? No, obviously not. Did you ask us when the next showing was? No, obviously not. 3) Martial arts room locked. Ibid. Again, of course it was. What exactly was your plan? Were you wanting to attend a class that wasn't actually on at the moment? Should we leave it open so anyone, at anytime, can go in with muddy or wet feet, get onto the mats, and play with the incredibly expensive gym equipment unsupervised? I guess, you think that's what our insurance company expects us to do? No, I don't think so; had you asked for a schedule, we could have given it to you. In fact, we might have even let you use the gym had you asked since it was raining. But you didn't. 4) £20 for entry, which means you got a discount for two families. Since you were told to go down and take a look and decide before you bought tickets, I'm not all that impressed by your complaints; you chose to go in on a rainy day in the morning and didn't even pay full price. Enough said. 5) Large pillow. You mean the larger pillow. Only your family and friends in the park, raining out, so we turned on the smaller of the two pillows. You know, the one that can hold up to 20 kids at a time. Was it really such an inconvenience for your kids to have it all to themselves? Or, do you think we should really turn on the even larger one that can hold 50 kids at a time, for your four kids -- on a rainy day, when nobody else was here? Totally illogical. Your complaint is a bit of a joke to be honest. 6) Not a "couple of karts", 15 of them. Since we had just done maintenance, your kids had the entire run of the place and could choose any one they wanted, as they wanted, without any hindrances whatsoever. Again, it's just another throw away off handed remark that has no value and holds no legitimate objective value. 7) You are correct, the grass hadn't been cut in the rain. Not how it works. But it's an absolute lie that you couldn't get to the grass sledging since there is a trail that is covered in matting and the ramp is covered in win-dust. Those areas don't need to be mowed, and the grass matting on the actual sledge area (there are three perfectly working tracked sledges) makes for a perfectly fine surface to sledge down. Ibid on my other comments. 8) I will admit this, we did have problems with both our mower and strimmer. I can post receipts for the new kit if it would make you feel better, proving that we had to have repairs done AND buy a new mower? Nah, why would you care about something like that? Or the fact that we even said to you that we apologized for the grass around the play area as we were waiting on a repair (it's an island, when someone says Tue, you have to ask what year!). But, since you weren't the one playing and your kids didn't care, I honestly don't see what you're remotely worked up about. It's just grass man. At the end of the day, we have a lot more happy people than unhappy, and as you even said, we're nice to people. So worst case, if someone is unhappy, we do our best to remedy the situation. One takes the good with the bad. You're the bad today. Thanks!

‪Lovely family day out. We enjoyed a good day out with all the family, lots of things for the kids to do whilst we enjoyed coffee and cake. Friendly owners but I have to say grass needed cut! Apart from that good times.‬

Thanks for the review. And glad you guys had fun. Good news is, we finally got the strimmer back from repair AND, we even managed to buy a new mower since the other one couldn't be fixed. Now, out to do some sweating given we have some sun today! Woo hoo! Wait, should I be this excited to go mow... might need to rethink my view of what's fun these days. ha

‪My grandson was having his 8th birthday party and we thought we would take all the boys to Balmichael, we could not have made a better choice, they all had a fantastic time. I let the owners know before we arrived so they were geared up for a lot of excited and boisterous boys arriving together with enough 'adults' to supervise them I don't know who had more fun the boys or the adults.
The owners work tirelessly to make sure that everyone was happy and as the theme of the party was loosely based on Harry Potter they even put that film on in the cinema, so that should it have rained, we could have gone in there.
They took our food order when we arrived and gave us a shout when it was ready. The cost was so reasonable that I thought we had only paid for the food when I fact we had paid for everything.
Everyone said what a fantastic time they had, they did mainly stick to the bouncy pillow, go carts and adventure playground.
We have no complaints at all, so glad we decided to go here as part of the birthday celebrations.‬

Thanks so much! It was great having you all over. Truly, always a pleasure to work with people who are nice, and children who are respectful and have fun. You brought some of the most well behaved children we've ever had for a party. Absolute pleasure on our part.

‪Our visit coincided with the height of the school holidays, and Trades Fortnight, and our children were particularly looking forward to playing on "the largest pillow in the EU". However, in this regard we were greatly disappointed, as it was not inflated, for the duration of our visit. The friendly owner talked to us at some length about the energy consumption and associated costs and said he would see if enough more people arrived, before deciding whether or not, to inflate it.

The venue had a rather sad, unloved feel to it, with litter lying on the ground, from the previous day(s), grass needing cutting, large weeds in evidence and a lot of equipment awaiting repair - the ice rink had become a graveyard for broken peddle-karts (about half a dozen) the adventure playground had missing and broken parts, and needed a lick of paint and the grass sledging slope had inadequate safety rails, and at any rate, was hard to use, due to weed growth. The cafe had no hotdogs - the house speciality, and there was bird poo on the children's pillow.

All this gave the impression that the place was on the verge of bankruptcy, which whilst we have every sympathy for the owners, if this is indeed the case, does have the affect of delivering a pretty uncomfortable experience for customers. It appears that the owners have been working to develop the site and facilities, however it is disappointing that once installed, things do not appear to have been maintained. Perhaps better to have fewer activities, but ensure that everything offered is neat, tidy and in good working order. Indeed many of the issues, such as mowing the grass, could have been rectified with a bit of time, rather than expense. The thought did cross our minds, that if things were as poorly maintained as they appeared to be, would we be trusting of having a go on the 'climby thingy', fifty feet high?

We have left 2 stars, rather than 1, as we were determined to make the most of things, and the children especially, had a good time - from their perspective, weeds, litter and broken equipment are not so apparent, however they have continued to express their disappointment that the large pillow wasn't operational, and feel, as we do, that this was unfair.

Arran Family Fun Park has the potential to be a really first rate attraction, and it is a real shame that the basics haven't been put right - people are happy to go with rustic surroundings, but the air of dejection created by a lack of much needed TLC neither inspires confidence, nor is conducive to having fun.‬

Really? I'm starting to think people like you read the one-stars/two-stars, plagiarize what other people wrote, and then pretend you're insightful. You said, "The friendly owner talked to us at some length about the energy consumption and associated costs and said he would see if enough more people arrived.." Friendly, yes. Even to unfriendly people. I remember you very well; you came into the coffee shop to ask me about the larger of the two pillows. To be clear, it is one of two very large pillows and the other one was on. But talking to you at length, I don't think so; I talked to you for a few seconds and politely explained that since there were only a few families, it didn't make sense to turn it on until more showed up. And, since your kids didn't fall into the age group FOR the larger pillow, they weren't allowed on it anyway. You said, "The venue had a rather sad, unloved feel to it, with litter lying on the ground, from the previous day(s)..." Sad? Unloved? Are these objective terms that have a specific meaning I can use to improve upon? Nope. And how would you know the litter was on the ground from the previous day or day(s) as you put it? Since I had PERSONALLY done safety checks and went through the park, I know that to be factually inaccurate. While litter may have ended up on the ground at some point, as it invariably does during the day with kids and some adults who seem to find the use of a rubbish bin out with their understanding, there wasn't any from the previous day. Total nonsense. You also said (you had a lot, so there's a lot to read and digest), "a lot of equipment awaiting repair - the ice rink had become a graveyard for broken peddle-karts (about half a dozen)..." Nope, not a "lot" at all; three to be exact. The number that comes before four and after two -- three. A total of three karts out of fifteen (15) that were being worked on because kids had broken them. We don't charge extra for that, we absorb the cost, order parts, and spend our time working on them. But while waiting for a replacement parts, they have to stay somewhere and not on the track. Correct? Where would you suggest I put those exactly? Since we're waiting for a part to reopen the ice skating rink (and that is posted on our site and ice skating is NOT included in your ticket anyway, so you lost no money or usage of anything), I'm not sure what the problem is? Again, another piece of total nonsense. You wrote, "the adventure playground had missing and broken parts". Nope. Nothing broken. And missing? What exactly was missing; it is exactly how it is supposed to be setup. You don't mention what or define anything other than to throw out broad statements. If they were, why didn't you tell us so we could address them. Oh, right, because that's a subjective not an objective observation on your part. Got it. Okay, this one is really stupid. You said "The grass sledging slope had inadequate safety rails..." That just is not factually true. Why is it people like you feel it's okay to lie on a public forum. Is it because you think you can get away with it? Because you don't think anyone will say anything or call you out? Give me a break. Did you measure them? Can you tell me the grade of the slope? Can you tell me the distance? Can you tell me what is recommended? Can you tell me what health and safety advised? Come on now, where's the facts here. I can tell you the answers to those -- you don't have a scoobie. Because you're, well, full of vinegar and don't know what you're talking about. OMG, are you SERIOUS? The cafe had no hotdogs - the house speciality? That's like a hospital not having penicillin, isn't it? Yeah, I don't have time for that one. Moving on. Pillow had bird poo on it. Okay, birds do that. They fly over and let loose. So, you tell us and we clean it. Simple. I LOVE this one... "All this gave the impression that the place was on the verge of bankruptcy, which whilst we have every sympathy for the owners, if this is indeed the case." Really? I tell you what, care to sit down and look at my books and compere them to your own? HA. If you think the place looks so bad, how about this: how about you send me your resume and I'll consider hiring you to do all the work you think needs to be done. :-) The one thing your "review" had that I did like was the excellent use of the English language; you struck me as someone who enjoyed hearing the sound of her own typing almost as much as I do. Other than that, you offered nothing but a lot of hyperbole, speculation, conjecture, and fallacies. Not a lot for me to consider for legitimate improvement, but fun to respond to nonetheless. This is one of my new hobbies that puts a smile on my face. I no longer take people like you seriously. The only negative reviews that matter are ones that actually help us improve or inform us on important things.
