Outstanding walk, really enjoyed, great for the dogs and kids. Easy walking, good for mountain bike.

Woodland walks, good paths, a reasonable chance of seeing red squirrel and hearing crossbills. Dog-friendly but large enough that dogs are not a nuisance!

Situated just outside Fochabers, the 'Winding Walks' are a selection of woodland trails that travel through the gardens of the Duke and Duchess of Gordon. They offer monuments and viewpoints (both of which we took in) and an opportunity to look out for some Capercaillie.
We have visited here on two occasions, walking the 'Peeps View Trail' and the 'Monument Trail' (the latter being a lot longer in distance). The 'Peeps' was very much a quick blast and almost all woodland, with a challenging climb initially. The 'Monument' was a lengthy climb to the top where we witnessed the noble cairn, built for the Duchess of Richmond (Whiteash Hill). There were also views over a large part of Northern Moray (and the coastline).
The entire area was brimming with visitors - some of them walkers, a small amount of campers and groups of enthusiastic mountain bikers. The surroundings were beautiful and the forestry, evidently, well looked after over the years. My one criticism lies with the car park - it could do with a bit of maintenance and the payment machine was temperamental (it was in use for our first visit and wouldn't accept our coins).
That small matter aside, this place is well worth a visit. It was tremendously scenic and welcoming. I would recommend arriving earlier during the weekend and, if you are slinging a young child to you (who might be grumpy), stick to the smaller loops (we know about this first hand haha).

Many more established walks and bike trails since I visited several years ago. Clearly laid out so that you can follow the route of your choice. Was disappointed that the viewpoint had been closed off temporarily but still a great afternoon out. Parking available, but charged for so make sure you are prepared for this.

Open once again after lockdown.
The car park was nearly full, with walkers and cyclists.
£1 to park here.
Beautiful walks, fresh air and a good panoramic view of northern Scotland in the distance from the memorial stone pyramid.
1.5 hrs walking was just right for us following one of the marked routes.

My first visit to this area.
On approach well sign posted 500m out. Once you enter the car park it's a one way system. Pay to park (the pay machine was broken when we visited). I would've paid the all day car rate of £2. Helpful info signage placed throughout.
We chose a lovely sunny, calm day and walked for 1.5hrs. Several route options may be taken within this mainly coniferous wood. I wore my wellies in October. Clear open, clean paths. Good mountain biking routes and obstacles (if you wish). Seats and picnic areas throughout. Lochan, memorial, viewing points, historical sites, high and low terrain to choose from.
I found it an excellent outing and will return without doubt, probably with a picnic next time.

Parked here (it’s a pay and display car park) and had a picnic. There’s 4 routes for you to walk route and the longest is the blue one.
We took the blue one and it leads you to a momentum and then round to a pond.
It’s a long way up a hill and it feels like it keeps going, but you must then come down on the way back.
It’s a circular walk and very beautiful, scenic and just nature.

out in the fresh air plenty room for the kids to run around what more could you ask for. Tracks to follow depending on ability as mostly uphill all the way but great views from the top. Plenty of parking spaces. Cheap day out take a picnic.

You leave the car park on a winding journey up the hill and it takes you round to end at a dam, where I, as a boy, tried to catch fish (unsuccessfully!!)

We had a rather wet walk through the forest , there are different lengths of walk we followed the blue walk that took us up to the monument. Despite being soaked by the time we got back to the car it was a great walk.
