Just 500 yards from the airport on Papa, this little kirk has been lovingly restored both inside and out.

It's only about a mile north of the Knapp of Howar and makes a good circular walk from the pier on Papa Westray. The church is very old and well preserved. It was a bit foggy when I was there but it must be lovely when the sun comes out.

Très belle église avec un cimetière extraordinaire. Il faut entrer dans l'église car elle vaut le coup d'œil. Un office y est célébré chaque dimanche à 14 h.

Interesting visit to St Boniface Kirk. A well maintained old kirk with good information display. Certainly worth a visit.

Little Kirk with big history, fascinating visit huge historical value. Glad we had a guide to give us all the information and history of this little Kirk

Sbarcati Philippa ed io da Westray a Papa Westray nella baia di Moclett, ci accoglie Jonathan, guida/birdwatcher molto preparata e appassionata che con il suo pulmino ci porta subito a visitare l'affascinante sito neolitico (3100 a.C) Knap of Howar e poi la Kirk of St Boniface circondata da antiche tombe. Sembra che la presenza ecclesiastica in questo luogo risalga all'VIII secolo.
A pochi metri, ci sono anche i segni di un altro insediamento neolitico purtroppo ormai eroso dal mare.
Torniamo all'imbarcadero per Westray costeggiando anche il locale aeroporto, famoso per il volo schedulato più breve del mondo: Papa Westray-Westray in 2 minuti per 18 sterline!
A pochi metri, ci sono anche i segni di un altro insediamento neolitico purtroppo ormai eroso dal mare.
Torniamo all'imbarcadero per Westray costeggiando anche il locale aeroporto, famoso per il volo schedulato più breve del mondo: Papa Westray-Westray in 2 minuti per 18 sterline!

Enjoyed discovering more about the Kirk and Its restoration, including the balcony. A beautiful and quiet place to visit.

small, secluded, well restored, isolated 12th century kirk. worth a visit if on Papa anyway. Old graveyard and nice views out on the sea.

A well kept and restored church and grave yard
A guide book is available inside for £2.50 which explains the history and restoration work - which is impressive
