A simply fantastic shopping experience. Gavin and Lucy have managed to fulfil my online order exceptionally fast and to the utmost quality. To anyone looking online, simply message Gavin/ The Facebook page and they will reply swiftly with answers to your questions. A seamless and brilliant process and I wish the business, Gavin and Lucy all the success in the future because they conduct business how it should be conducted. A nice enough shop with a big range of stuff but could do with a bit more logical organisation. But worth a look.

Thanks - I totally agree! And that's why we're opening another shop soon, just around the corner There will be a *logical* split of products between them - and more room for display...
Of course, there is the caveat that one person's logic is another's chaos.... so we're never going to please everyone :-)
Sneak preview? 'Simply The Best' will regain focus as the Fair Trade shop, while 'Outside The Box' will cater to those tastes not quite in tune with Fair Trade - like TY Beanies, Harry Potter and other geeky products, as well as local crafts.
There will still be no products that are, as far as we can tell, 'unethical'.

I was a little disappointed in my visit after so many good reviews. It could just be me, but I was looking for something out of the ordinary and relevant to the local area. However, it is crowded with a huge range of items, none of which appeared to be made in the highlands (I could be wrong here). I think I could find most things available here at most decent fair-trade shops. The small section of Scottish items was the cheap-appearing touristy kind. However, if you like browsing through a busy, internationally-focused store you may like this - I just don't.

First of all - we are not a 'Scottish shop'. You are quite correct; none of our products are made in the Highlands, as Simply The Best is, at heart, a Fair Trade shop. This means we stock a range of items made in many different countries around the world, all with the aim of helping disadvantaged small producers.
Whereas most Fair Trade shops stock items from a handful of suppliers, we take a much broader view and have a pool of over fifty suppliers (and many more producers) we can buy from. This means there is, generally speaking, a wider range of goods than you might find in other Fair Trade shops.
Over the past year, because of customer demand and in order to offer an even larger selection of goods, we have introduced a range of wooden educational toys, some more mainstream items for children and a few Scottish souvenirs. These include fridge magnets with photos of Dornoch and area exclusive to ourselves.
Yes, we can be a little cluttered, which is why we are opening an additional outlet in Dornoch in March. This will be managed by a local artist/craftsperson, who will be using the rear of the shop as her studio. She will also be selling her wares alongside ours on the shopfloor. Exciting times!

I just love this shop, I'm only in the area twice a year but always make a point of visiting as I really love their vast array of products and such friendly staff.

Situated in a rather dismal retail park (is there any other kind I wonder?) this is an interesting and rather refreshing shop to look around. It makes a change to see different articles on sale from far flung parts of the world, and the range of goods is impressive.

A little off the beaten track in the corner of a retail park. Excellent choice of gifts , wooden children’s toys, baby clothes and nic nacs. Nice find

We visited the best Fair Trade Shop quite by chance. We were hoping to get fish and chips from the nearby chip shop but it was closed and we noticed this shop. We went inside and found an incredible array of fair trade goods from all over the world.If you were looking for a present with a difference, then this would be a good place to start.They sell clothing, games, books, musical instruments, jigsaws, jewellery....the list was endless. The shop is set out over three rooms and was full of nooks and crannies.

We came across this little wonder as we followed signs to a retail park as we were looking for a chip shop. Despite two weeks of looking in gift shops my other half wanted to go in, so we did. I think he preferred this store to any we had seen on the holiday so far!
They had such a variety of pieces, some of the smaller cheaper items, some of the larger more expensive type. There is information on the makers of the items dotted around as you would expect and when we made our purchases we were treated promptly and courteously and we enjoyed our little free gift!
It is a shame that this store is out of the way but it is worth diverting slightly out of your way to find it if you like free trade and even if you don't but you like gift shops! There is plenty of free parking. A nice little find.

We do try our best to stock a full range of items - useful and/or decorative - from 99p all the way up to whatever 'showstopper' we have in at the time.
Our curent Showstopper is Peter the Black Panther, made from wire mesh and papier mache then covered with real sheep and goat's leather (by products of the food industry) in the Bhopal region of India.
Love your byline - "Find it!" As we're somewhat off the beaten track (but only by 100 metres or so), it is difficult to attract custom and these reviews are invaluable to us - so once again, thank you soooo much!

Its a nice enough fair trade shop in a business park.
Was disappointed by the small range of clothes. Loads of bits and bobs and kids toys though.
It is nice to see a shop of this kind in the Highlands - nicer than all the similar looking boutique shops.
Worth a look if your in the area.

I'm sorry you were disappointed with the range of clothes - unfortunately, we don't really have the space to carry as large a range as we would like - and also a couple of our suppliers where we got *really* nice bright clothes from Nepal have gone out of business because of poor sales. We do know of a couple of other suppliers of Fair Trade clothes, but we're not happy with the quality control from one of them and the other is far too expensive for our customers.
We do what we can, though - and it's nice to know the range of clothes is the only thing you were disappointed with.
(Having said that, we do still have a lot of tops, dresses, shirts, skirts, trousers and jackets available - as well as lovely baby clothes from Hooligans Kids in South Africa!)

Hi! Sorry to take so long...just serving some customers. We're behind Historylinks, which is behind the Jail - go to the Square and turn right, right again and then left into the Retail Park. There's a lot of building work going on at the moment! We have a feather flag outside - near the glass recycling.
