‪We visited this site quite late one afternoon, but the gentleman who ran it was still very generous with his time and information. He's really knowledgeable and enthusiastic.
Next day we coincidentally bumped into him and a group on one of his seashore guided trips, and again were very impressed.
I would recommend visiting the centre and participating in any trips/activities which he runs.‬

‪We had an excellent week in the Knapdale area, relaxing, walking and wildlife watching. Before we arrived we contacted the Argyll Beaver Centre for tips and local information to help us enjoy our holiday, and we got a very full and informative response. We visited several times and found the staff very helpful, friendly and passionate.

Definitely worth visiting if you enjoy wildlife, and in particular if you'd like to find out more about how the beaver trials in Scotland are faring.‬

‪We visited here this morning. After a short introduction from a really knowledgeable and helpful chap in the centre we were given some maps and advice of what to look for. We drove 2 minutes to a different car park and headed out on a walk around the larger of the Lochs. We weren’t expecting to actually see beavers and didn’t, but we saw lots of evidence of their presence with fallen and gnawed trees and a damns.
The walk took a couple of hours and was interesting and not too challenging. We wore walking boots as it was quite wet, but on drier days you’d probably be ok in trainers.

‪Centre itself is excellent - lots of information, wonderful sighting possibilities for birds and animals feeding close up. Friendly and helpful staff who are obviously extremely knowledgeable in their field. Things to keep adults and kids of all ages happy.
Guided beaver walk was well worth the effort even though we both need walking sticks; to be recommended even plagued by midges or in the pouring rain! Lots of information given before the walk and chats en route about things we were passing.
Finally, we have to mention the compost toilet. Absolute must just to look at the building let alone use it for its designated purpose. No smell, looks like a normal toilet, just no flush (sawdust instead).
Don't miss this place, it's a must.‬

‪While on holiday in Crinan we decided to go in search of beavers, a group of which have been introduced in Knapdale. Off we went to the Beaver and Wildlife Visitor Centre; we parked and walked quite a way to the viewpoint, from where our understanding was that you could see where they’d been at work; but no, it was just a viewpoint. However, we did see the most gorgeous burnet moth; and the flowers, ferns and lichens were spectacular too. There are lots of enthusiastic notices telling you what to look out for and how special the area is.

So, back we went to the modest visitor centre, where my husband found out from the very helpful gentleman within that the beavers had moved from where they were, and were now to be found along a different track in the opposite direction. (I didn’t go into the visitor centre as I was busy working out how to use the rather complicated Long Drop loo.) So off we set again, till we came to a place where the road had flooded, and the industrious little critters had decided to dam that too!! We couldn’t get across, not having proper walking boots or Wellington boots – not something we would prioritise in our airline hand luggage. So, no beavers on this occasion; but a fascinating glimpse of the sort of thing they get up to.‬

Thank you for your feedback. The dam on the track continues to grow, but it is likely that Forestry and Land Scotland will decide to manage its impacts in the near future. Our apologies if signage inferred the viewpoint was anything other than a viewpoint. It's always good to get feedback from folk unfamiliar with the area, as this helps inform any future signage.

‪The guy at the beaver station told us a lot about the area and the beaver populations. You could even touch some furrs.
After a short walk to a viewing point you can enjoy the view about the whole area.

They also offer guided tours in the evenings.‬

‪We were a party of 6 plus an infant and we visited on a damp, very still day so there was the odd midge around. But despite that we found it a fascinating place, with very knowledgeable and helpful staff, one in particular a really enthusiastic volunteer. There was a beaver walk that evening which we would have liked to have done but were sadly unable to. The walk to the viewpoint was not too far, most people would manage it quite easily, and the view when we got to the end was spectacular, imagine what it would be like on a lovely sunny day!
We will definitely go back, it will become one of our go to places when we visit Tayvallich.‬

‪Myself and my family visited the Barnluasgan Beavers yesterday and have to say we had a truly memorable day going looking for beavers. Firstly we drove up a long and winding road and found the wee visitors centre and were met by Oly and then Pete. Both had us all enthralled with their knowledge of the area and the task they have had re-introducing beavers back into Scotland. We could have stayed all day listening to Pete he was a lovely man and so happy to share his knowledge of the wildlife and surrounding areas to go exploring ourselves. We took a stroll up the road to the view point and the scenery was breathtaking after this we then had a short drive down the road to go exploring the area for beavers. We knew we were a bit early but this didn't deter us, we strolled around the loch and found evidence of beaver activity which was brilliant. We were lucky with the weather and enjoyed our saunter. I would definitely recommend visiting the area and hopefully you will see lots of wildlife. A wee heads up though go at early morning or early evening to spot the beavers. ‬
