We went on the 1 hour boat cruise, it was a bit difficult to hear the commentary from the on-site deck, but the views were great.

We were staying nearby at Lake of Menteith so drove to Loch Katrina on a very wet and misty day .
We did the two hour boat trip there and loved it.
Somehow the bad weather added to the atmosphere of the Loch.
Some great mountain scenery, passed a few lovely old stone buildings, what a treat to see the cottage built for Queen Victoria when she visited the Loch to open the new water system that feeds Glasgow.
Another feature was the McGregor cemetery enclosed by stone walls to protect it from the water.
This is a beautiful part of the country, a pleasure to visit Rob Roy Country

The road to Stronachlachar is really not suitable for Motorhomes as it is extremely narrow with poor visibility, quite busy with fast local traffic and people parking in passing places. Whilst the position of the pitches is lovely we would not recommend. Also they are said to be fully serviced pitches but actually only EHU and fresh water has to be obtained from the ladies toilets!

My Boyfriend and I were here at the weekend and we had such a great time. What a great experience. Amazing views and lots of interesting information too. The boat trip was so beautiful and peaceful. The staff were so friendly and pleasant especially Lukasz we really liked him.
The food and drinks on the boat were also lovely. Would definitely recommend this to all ages!

This is a fantastic S-shaped lake, located between impressive mountains.
You can take a nice boat ride in the lake or just enjoy a picnic on one of its banks.

The sir Walter Scott boat trip is good, the staff are informative and the scenery is beautiful. They even supply blankets which is a bonus. I do think it is expensive for what you get.

Sin duda, es uno de los lagos más bellos del mundo. Si tienes oportunidad, ve a Balloch. No solo pasearás a orillas del lago sino que la localidad es una preciosidad. Sube al castillo (no visitable) y pasea por el parque alrededor, con vistas espectaculares.

Had a trip on steamer £20 pp it was lovely chose 1 hour trip as loo facility on board, full bar snacks etiquette enjoyed you could take dogs, bikes etc and cycle back. Bike hire was available here as well as cafe and gifts shop

Well well well.... difficult.
It is surely a nice and beautiful place....like many in Scotland.
Is it worth the detour?
Possibly not.
Yes you can go on a boat trip.
But it is also flooded with tourists.
Would we go again ? No!

The staff were very welcoming and the facilities were of a good standard and clean. At the time of our visit, there was ample available parking for our motorhome. We enjoyed a very interesting tour onboard 'Lady of the Lake', the Captain's commentary was very informative and amusing.

There is a microwave/grill combo, toaster, kettle and fridge in each lodge. There are no cooker hobs.

I am hoping to visit Loch Katrine with family visiting from England Easter weekend. We are hoping to bring a picnic. Are there areas we can head to to have a picnic? Are there barbecue facilities anywhere at the Locg?

As previously mentioned, there is a good "Water Boards" maintained road (good for walking and cycling) along the right hand side of the loch (with Trossachs Pier behind), not possible to walk on other side...... As previously mentioned suggest taking the boat and cycling or walking back (still a long undulating walk).
Lovely scenery, enjoy every single moment!

What is the policy on BBQ on the eco lodge site? Are disposable 1s allowed? Staying in a couple of weeks & just realised there is only really a microwave for cooking!! We usually like to cook 1 night when we are away.

Hi Michelle! We ask that guests use gas BBQs only. They can be supplied for £10 or £20 depending on the size you require. Regards Stuart
