This is a really beautiful area to visit, we visited in the winter, so not much open nearby other than Dylans restaurant. The views are stunning, we walked down the beach from Dylans side towards Black Rock sands and it was a lovely walk along the rocky beach, plenty of big rocks to climb on, we also saw lots of washed up jellyfish which was a highlight for the kids. It was stunning in the winter so I bet the summer is even better! Car park £1.10 an hour, pay and display. Plenty of beachfront parking.

walked along the sea front on New Years day 2023,
their are some benches to sit and relax the views across to the castle are beautiful,

Beautiful scenery here with the mountains, sea, beach, greenery and castle to look at. I am sure I can spot the dragons circling the castle.

Beautiful winters beach. Easy to access beach via multiple sets of steps or there is a flat path along the seafront in either direction which would be easy for push chairs, wheelchairs or those with mobility issues. Beautiful views across the bay to mopuntains and Harlech castle

Lovley beach with great views

Castle views, rockpools, sand, pebbles... this beach has everything! This is one of the nicest beaches we've been to and will definitely be visiting again

Great beach for rockpooling.
We spent some time on the beach every day looking at shells, rocks and finding creatures. The kids loved it. We also saw some dolphins one day! Definitely worth a visit!

Ive been visiting Criccieth since family holidays way back in the 80s.
I will never get tired of the view, and the cleanliness of the beach and promenade and the friendliness of the people.
A bonus is having well kept, public (free) toilets right on sea front.
For a lone traveller, i never felt threatened or unsafe.

The beach is made up of sand and pebbles. We visited on one of the hottest days of year but we all enjoyed our visit. We swam in the sea, built towers of pebbles and played in the sand. Refreshments were available from a van at the top of beach. All in all, a great day out for children and adults alike.

I didn't see any signs saying they couldn't go on the beach. Also there were dogs there when I was there.

Indeed there are a lot of benches along both Criccieth beaches. The Esplanade (east of Criccieth Castle) offers one every fifty or so feet. There are some on Beach Bank, which are elevated above the road and look out across the bay. There are also covered seats on the greens both east and west of the castle. They look like garden sheds, but they provide rather good shelter on windy days. There are three benches outside the Lifeboat Station. On the west shore aka The Marine and West Parade, there is a bench at the foot of the castle, another couple at the bottom of the hill and one in the middle section of Marine Terrace. Further along there is a green with benches, picnic tables and more covered seats. Try Street View and Google "Esplanade Criccieth" then follow the road. They are quite plainly visible.

Just wondering if there are camp sites nearby suitable for a fairly big motor home and is the beach sandy and suitable for swimming.

Black Rock beach is just round the promontory and is sandy and ideal for families. Vehicles can go on the beach at low tide at about £5 per day.
There's also a basic camping site there with toilets.
Better for family seaside days than Criccieth which is shingle and smaller.
Only half a mile along the beach to the tea shops etc too!
