Booked online for my young daughter and myself, which was all very straightforward to do and instructive on where we needed to be.
The car parking at Whitesands costs a few quid and it’s right close to the beach.
We had Nick as our instructor, really mellow guy, seemed to have oodles of experience.
He kitted us out in wetsuits and sussed out the best size boards for us and off we went!
Sat on the sand a little while to go over the necessary safety stuff and then he had us in the water practicing what he’d taught us and each time we got (sort of) used to that he’d get us out to learn the next bit.
Nick kept a close eye on us both especially young’en, coached us until we had success, and laughed when we got it wrong but then encouraged us to keep trying.
I was really grateful for the way Nick was so calm and how he made sure my daughter was safe and not far away at all times. It enabled me to get carried away and get trashed in the bigger waves.
The feeling of getting it right and riding the wave is immense and addictive.
I really recommend the experience.
We were not cold at any point considering it was a blowy October day.
It really was money well spent and we had the BEST fun, didn’t stop smiling throughout, felt like we’d learned loads, and then we went home and felt like jelly for the rest of the day.

Great introduction to surfing and ideal for beginners. Whitesands is a great beach to learn on. Helpful instructor kept it simple.

Had a lesson and hired boards for a couple of days. Quick and easy booking. Very friendly and knowledgeable staff. Great lesson. Good value foe money. Will definitely use again.

Had a lesson before and it was amazing. Great instructor and well taught class. But this time I went into the store to book again as I got alone as my wife is pregnant. Guy behind the counter couldn't have been less interested in helping if he tried. Rude and unhelpful just telling me to refer to the website and when I said I had and am unable to book as a solo he just seemed to act as though I should some how find a random person to book with. All I had been trying to ask was if there is a class with people in for me to join. Ended up booking with another school. Shame as I like ma simes but that guy is a disgrace to their company acting as though the booking and store work was beneath him.

I only rented a wetsuit and a board but I was given great advice and the perfect equipment for my skill level! Also a beautiful spot for attempting to get better at surfing ☺️

We had a great introduction to surfing with Nick! It was a really sunny day at beautiful Whitesands beach, and although we’d booked a group session, there was just two of us there. Nick took us through the basics, and gave us loads of help as we got to grips with the technique. We were both up and surfing by end of the two hours, which we didn’t expect!
Thank you so much, we had a great time and would thoroughly recommend learning to surf with Ma Simes! We can’t wait to get back on the water :)

Father and teenage daughter - never been surfing before, but just two hours later, with expert instruction from Alice & Rhona, we were up and standing on the boards. Good waves and glorious weather at Whitesands helped make it a perfect morning.
Good quality wetsuits and softboards. Great value.

What a good way two spend a couple of hours. My young teenage daughter and myself had a bash. Brilliant tuition and got people up on the boards by the end as promised. You were watched closely and felt very safe.. would definitely do again.

Excellent lesson. Both my daughters were standing up by the end of their first lesson and really enjoyed the session. My eldest daughter had had one lesson four years ago from another provider in Newgale but said the tuition here was much clearer and
