Lovely staff, nice visitors centre (serving home made cakes) with parking leading to a lovely short river walk. An hour well spent 🧐

Nice centre but spoiled by the 'scrapyard' alongside it, the uncared for play area, the lack of knowledge by the staff and the unsuitability of the walks for those with a pushchair. Nice spot by the river that kids will enjoy.

Always been interested in Offas Dyke. Only because it was such a huge effort to build it must have been done for psychological impact more than any other reason. Small but interesting museum. Worth spending an hour there.

Living in North Wales I decided to walk the trail from north to south starting June 17th 2021, having had to move the start date twice due to the pandemic. I was familiar with the very elegant Prestatyn official start and was on my way by 8.00AM. I had all the accommodation planned and was taking 14 days to complete, no need to rush through this beautiful country.
Now in reflection and consideration of my days on the trail there were definitely highs and lows. I will be 75 years old in September and have hiked all over the world, on many of the best known international trails, sad to say the' Offas Dyke' trail in parts is very disappointing falling short as a’National Trail & Monument. From Monmouth to Chepstow the trail is beautifully maintained, well sign posted and the only stretch along the Dyke with information boards describing the history and construction of the ‘National Monument’.
Through parts of mid Wales signs were either missing, broken, unreadable and in some cases completely obscured by foliage. There also appears to be a major move from sheep grazing to arable farming with the original path routes being moved to the field boundaries, why this is tolerated is a disgrace as it removes the very character of a hiking trail. As for ‘Offas Dyke’, a recognised national monument, seems in large stretches to have almost been abandoned and used as a dumping ground by elements of the farming community. As for the finish on Sedbury cliff, compared to the Prestatyn feature, speechless!
The overriding joy and pleasure given to me on the ‘Offas Dyke’ trail was the staggeringly beautiful and diverse country the path takes you through. Walking south I did meet a good number walking north, sharing thoughts and opinions we were generally on the same page. I must also thank the varied B&Bs and hotels for faultless accommodation and food along the trail.

Visiting Knighton, stopped off to explore the Offa's Dyke Association.
However, the building was closed, but the free parking and outside play / picnic areas were open, so not a complete loss.
Strange that it was closed during the school holidays.

Well worth a visit. Lots of information on the Dyke and the local area. Lots of stuff for youngsters to do both inside the centre and in the play area outside.Nice little cafe in the building offer a limited range but all seemed to be good quality.
About 5 minutes walk to a small bridge where one can stand with one foot in England and one foot in Wales. Childish but still good fun.

The museum is situated close to the Dyke and river side walk. The displays are well done and informative. Tea and cake available in the café.
