Just so nobody wastes a trip, this place is closed. It was sold and is being remodeled into a doctor's office. I just wanted to let people that were traveling know.

always very friendly. we enjoy their wine very much. our favorite is the blackberry. Easy access off of I-24.

This winery is CLOSED.
It's a cute location and hopefully someone will look into purchasing the property. Wish I had the time. The vines are all still on site and are now starting to bud.

My hubby and I love to visit wineries. Ever since downloading the Tennessee Wine Country app to my IPhone, we have been on a mission to visit as many as possible. We almost have mid TN sewn up.
We have missed Montague several times after visiting Chattanooga. Well, this past Sunday, we were in Montague buying a camper. After completing our purchase, we realized we still had time to visit the winery. We found it easily because it is right off I-24.
There are several motels across the street and and a mom and pop version of cracker barrel. The motels and the restaurant were hopping. The parking lot to the winery was EMPTY. The parking is large and the building is large. The vines out front look unattended to.
Upon entering the building we noticed immediately the complete lack of wine bottles and gift items that decorate most wineries. The building looked clean. We approached the wine counter and were greeted by an attractive lady. She asked if we wanted to taste the wines and if we liked dry or sweet. We told her dry, and she pointed out the 2 wines that fell in that category. We told her we would like to start with Seyval Blanc.
She asked for our IDs. She poured the wine into the glasses while I was getting my drivers license. When I looked at my glass I had to look twice to see if it actually contained any wine. I took the glass closer to my face and noticed a tablespoon amount of wine in the glass. I thought 2 - 3 ounces was the norm. At all the wineries I have been to, I have been able to at least get 3 sips from the glass. One tablespoon does not make an informed decision.
My hubby asked to taste one of the red wines and she again poured one tablespoon in his glass. She did not pour any in my glass or ask if I wanted a taste. At this point I am ready to leave. My hubby is not catching my looks and asks for another taste of a different wine. This time she pours some in both of our glasses. One tablespoon.
My hubby asked me if I liked the wines and I said no. We left.
We usually buy 2 to 3 bottles of wine when we visit a winery. We bought nothing.
This winery must be having money troubles. If they cannot afford to give real tastings or have an inventory of gifts they should just close the doors or sell it to someone who knows what they are doing. It is in a great location and the building could really be extraordinary. So sad.

We stopped on a trip over the mountain on our way back from the GA coast. We had seen the sign going down and decided to stop on our way back. It was OK and we really didn't like many of the wines. We finally bought a single bottle of the blackberry but we have had better.
We probably will not feel the need to stop again on future trips. Once was sufficient. Been there, done that.

Very welcoming. Great tasting wines. Nice conversation with the woman offering the tasting. Great stop before you get to Lynchburg.

Stopped to taste the wine and tour the winery. Tasted an outstanding blackberry (purchased a bottle). Requested a tour and they stated they did not do tours because the wine maker wasn't there. Clerk was helpful and friendly.

I make a point of stopping at any winery I can find while traveling. Stopped at this winery on my way home from Atlanta. The place looks like it is about to close down. The first thing you see when you walk in the door are "out of order" signs on the restroom doors. The place is bare except for a few bottle of wines and maybe a dozen wine related items. No one greeted us when we first walked in. A lady came in from a side room and walked behind the bar.She acted like we were interrupting her. I asked if they did tastings and she said "yes but we only have a limited wines available.What kind of wines do you like?"Everytime I said a kind she would say "We don't have that kind". The point of going to a winery is to try different kinds of wine. She truly acted like she couldn't wait for us to leave...so we did leave...with the $100 still in my pocket that I usually do spend a good winery.

We have been visiting this winery for over 20 years. We stopped today for the first time in several years. We asked for a wine list that they did not have. We were only offered 1 wine to taste and it was awful. We are so sad that a wonderful winery has became one that we will not visit again!

My wife and I stopped in Sunday August 11. The gentleman was very nice to talk to, and let us try all of the wines that we wanted. I purchased 3 bottles ($25 each...) of our favorite. When we got home we opened the first one, then the second... the wine was rotten, and disgusting. I called this morning to ask what the problem was (we aren't really wine people, and I thought we were doing something wrong) and spoke with a woman. She said that it's not her problem if we don't like the wine.
She was very angry and defensive. Clearly this was not the first time this has happened. I asked her how we are supposed to drink it properly, and she barked "just bring them all back then... I know you just want money."
I certainly did not. We hadn't even tried the third bottle, but I'm sure it wouldn't be any better. I made the 1.5 hour drive back to this place so she could exchange our bottles for us. I thought that was nice of them to offer, even if the attitude was bad.
I walked in and this same woman walked around and locked the door behind me, I imagine she knew what was going to happen and didn't want any customers walking in. I gave her the bottles, and my receipt when she asked for it. I asked for an exchange, to which she replied "why, so you can drink it and bring it back? No, I don't want you to have any more of my wine. This isn't for you." and refunded my money.
I was confused, but said "thank you for your help, I'm sorry for the trouble." To which this woman replied "I'm sorry, but I want you to know that obviously we can't afford to have you come back here ever again."
I replied. "I understand, but I don't think you'll have to worry about that."
Woman: "Well you say that, but I want to be clear, I don't want to see you here ever again."
Me: "Ok, you won't. That seems rude for you to say it though."
Woman, now yelling:
"It's rude for you to do what you're doing! Just because you don't like wine... what the hell did you buy if for you damn fool! We have to pour this down the drain now, because of you. I gotta pay taxes on it, but at least you get your money back."
I knew that she was very angry by now, even though I had never even asked for a refund. I asked if I could leave now. What happened next is something I will never forget. This woman barked at me "Go on! Get!!!" like I was a stray dog. I have never seen a clerk yell so irately at a new customer before.
"Go on! Get!!!!"
I turned and walked toward the door. but this woman had locked it when I came in. I asked her to please unlock it so that I could leave. She yelled from behind the counter "You can't unlock a freaking door?!!"
I finally got it opened and rushed back to my car. She ran to the door and yelled to me while I was trying to leave. "customers like you, I don't need! You're just a fool! GET!!!" Two or three more times.
This sounds unbelievable, I know. All I can think is that they prey on tourists, who won't discover the rotten wine until they are back home, and it's not worth the drive back to complain.
Please do not visit this terrible nightmare of a place. If anyone can help me who knows of any legal actions I can take, please contact me. We don't know what to do.
