Kate’s Cottage houses a gift shop and a small Kelly Museum. You can get all your Kelly merchandise from this one shop. An extensive range of black t-shirts with almost every form of anti-establishment theme. Other items included books, images and other curios.
The museum is at the back of the shop.

What a great experience the passion and knowledge of the owners made the whole experience very enjoyable. I would highly recommend a trip to Glenrowan with Kates Cottage being the highlight of the day.

I always visit this place when driving through… Good souvenirs all obviously Ned Kelly focused you can pick up a couple of knickknacks or small gifts. They have a additional Kelly’s cottage exhibition that you have to pay for, which I’ve never done, but the shop itself is worth having a browse. Interesting new mural on the side of the building.

We love to visit Kates cottage, always greeted by lovely staff, plus lots of novelty Ned Kelly good...we always return.

In our nearly 36 years of owning and operating KATE'S COTTAGE G S M & H., we have met some lovely people . Being here for so long we often have visitors tell us that they came in as a child with their grandparents or parents and are now coming in with their own children, That is very humbling to hear...does make us feel a bit old too.
I suppose you could say … that we have watched you grow up and you have watched us grow old... and that's a good thing.
Looking forward to seeing you again.

Thank you Stephen for your lovely review of your visit to our business.
One of the good things that came out of us having to lock down due to Covid 19 was that after over 35 years of owing this shop it was the perfect time to paint and revamp all of our displays and stock.
The shop is fully stocked and looks great. I got to have time to go through all of my huge collection of Ned Kelly books and discount the double, triples of titles etc. .. .much to the collectors delight.
Its lovely to see such positive responses from visitors.

This is a great gift shop which has something for everyone. Managed to pick up a out of print book on Ned Kelly here. Behind a rather unassuming barrier is the Ned Kelly Museum which is worth a visit and has many possessions from the Ned Kelly's family and gang, who grew up in the surrounding area

We do keep, but not for long, some really interesting and rare books on the Ned Kelly history.
Through the back of KATE'S COTTAGE GIFT AND SOUVENIR SHOP you step into the NED KELLY MUSEUM then through the heavy back door to the replica of the ( ramshackle hut like the words to the song) KELLY HOMESTEAD.
Like you, travellers are often pleasantly surprised by the museum and homestead display and the rich history of the town and area known as Kelly Country.

Give the overpriced museum down the road a miss and head to the original museum located near the giant Ned Kelly statue. Informative Museum that explains the life of kelly family from immigration to hanging of Ned.

We try to keep our prices affordable especially for families at $10 each for adults and $1.00 for children
The story of the iron clad bushranger Ned Kelly still has generation after generation of visitors to Glenrowan intrigued. Though I think for kids the cheeky talking cockatoos Howard (who is nearly 80 years old) and Dorothy win out.

ドライブの途中で休憩に寄ったグレンロワンにあった博物館。
入口部分はネッドケリーのプリントが入ったＴシャツなどのお土産の山でした。
奥に抜けると開拓時代のコテージがあり、これがなかなか雰囲気が良かったです。

Kate's Cottage is a combination museum and display. In the museum are lots of artifacts from the time of Ned Kelly, as well as many items directly related to Ned and family such as portraits, photos, travel records, death records, and items belonging to family members of the Kelly clan. Then out the back is a full size display of Ellen Kelly's cottage, complete with items owned by the Kelly family, as well as items closely reflecting what Ellen had in her home. You can go through the cottage and see the sad state Ellen lived in during her later years. The lady working in the shop of Kate's Cottage was lovely and tried to find a photo of Neds sister Maggie for me (sadly she couldn't, I don't think one exists). The price to get in is not much, and there is a big variety of souvenirs and other gifts available in the shop. Definitely worth a visit :)

I do recall looking for that photo but remember now that Maggie Skilling (Skillion) nee Kelly's portrait is on Page 151 of Keith McMenomy's lovely pictorial book "The concise illustrated history of Ned Kelly"
There is also a lot about her - Skilling, Maggie (nee Kelly) in Ned Kelly a Short Life by Ian Jones .
Both of these books are a must for your Kelly collection as is The Inner History of the Kelly Gang by J J Kenneally. The shop carries a large range of second books about Ned Kelly ... some are quite rare.
There has been more books written about Ned Kelly than any other man in Australian history - well over 1,000 including plays and DVDs.
You can also google an image of Maggie Skilling nee Kelly - sometimes spelt Skillion.
