Was great to see the falls flowing well. No toilets as the storm a couple of years ago destroyed them. Thank you to the local couple picking up rubbish. It would be appreciated if everyone picks up their own rubbish.

Lovely waterfall close to the town. Easily accessible with good pathway down quite a few steps to the bottom. Interesting information there about how it was formed.

Attractive falls but inadequate facilities. Poor signage, toilet block closed and no access to the base of the falls.

Waterfall looked beautiful but disappointed you can no longer go down to the bottom of the falls. Lots of people on the small viewing platform meant we could only be there for a few minutes after driving over 1 hour to visit.

Toilet block currently closed and no alternative facilities provided. Falls are beautiful but was disappointed that they can only be viewed from a distance.

We drove 20 odd kms to Trentham Falls which we figured would have a good volume due to the recent heavy rains. We were not disappointed – it was a bit of a steep walk down but worth it when we got there. Not quite the size of the big waterfalls along the waterfall way earlier this year in NSW but still substantial and the biggest drop in Victoria – 32 m. It was on the Coliban River. Well worth a visit.

Lots of water the waterfall was the best I have seen it for a long time. An easy walk to view the falls a must do on a trip to Trentham.

We went to Trentham Falls which was great but was disappointed to find the walking track down to the bottom of the falls is now permanently closed due to it being dangerous.
Then we drove into Trentham town to visit the famous Red Beard Bakery only to find it closed, in fact everything was closed...

Was amazing, local bakery in tentham is a must go to! And coffee and pies there were also great. Waterfall was a short walk from the car park and also the toilets was squished due to a recent storm

My wife and I visited this place during our recent 3 days holiday in Daylesford. There was only one other person (a solo traveller) there at the time of our visit as it was mid week off peak season.
Trentham Falls is Victoria's highest single drop waterfall, where the Coliban River plunges 32m down over basalt columns before continuing on through the gorge below.

Just Wondering if dogs are still allowed at the falls, simply because I know they're no longer allowed at hanging rock

I cannot recall seeing any signage to say dogs were not allowed. I wouldn't think it would be a problem. You can't really get down to the falls. There is a viewing deck only.

There is no entry fee to the falls or car park. Just a beautiful place to visit.

** Swimming & Access to the Falls is Denied **
Access to the water has been denied by Parks Victoria since late 2015 to prevent loss of life. That is why they have fenced off the paths & put in place warning signs
So no, you cannot swim at the base of Trentham Falls nor can you access the falls themselves. Those whom are experts have determined that the erosion, weathering & constant stream of visitors have caused the paths & surrounding rock structures to become hazardous to life.
This is in addition to the signage posted by Trentham Landcare that clearly states "Water seepage & widening cracks show that an area to 'the left' of the falls is expected to fail. Already some blocks have fallen reminding that erosion is an ongoing and natural process".
In March 1990 two children were killed at another waterfall in Victoria due to a rockfall & it is understood that the geological structure is the same, comprising among other things basalt.
Consequently whilst it may disappointing, it is a fact that access to the water is denied - and that does mean no swimming.
Please stay safe and follow the directions.
Whilst no one knows exactly when there may be another rockfall here they are sure that there will indeed be one.

Hi all,
I am leaving for Trentham tomorrow and I was just doing some research about getting down at the base of the falls. I could find some contradicting reviews about it. Can anyone help me with this confusion ? Will I be able to get down at the base or is the access closed.
I am a photographer and this is the first time I am going there. I dont want to miss any spot to photograph it and I reckon the best shots can be made from the base.

Hi Nishant, I accidentally deleted your message so will reply here.
We went to the falls via Google directions and road signs. It took us to a carpark where you had to descend a few steps to get to the falls observation level. There was a sign saying access to the base of the waterfall is closed.
I'm not sure whether there are other entrances to the falls but our route did not allow us to trek to the bottom of the waterfall (hence my disappointment as I wanted to take photos from all angles too!)
