We drove past this path between Monteagle and Sewanee. Looks like a great place for a bike ride. Went for a 3ish mike run on it later in the afternoon. Feels new. Well kept up, no potholes or branches leaning over the path.

Drove 89 miles from Nashville to attend this parkrun and it was well worth it. It was such a friendly group, and the trail itself is gorgeous. It's so beautiful to run through, although a little humid when we went, but that's weather for you. We'd definitely come again.

So glad they improved the trail, cannot wait for the extension. Always remember that bicycles also enjoy the trail, always bear right when approached from the rear and everyone will be safe. Happy Spring.

As soon as we got to the parking area at the big cross, our youngest took off gleefully running down the hiking trail. Besides being a little steep in places, it was an easy hike for both of our children. Centipedes, moss, mushrooms, and lots of rocks made for great conversations about nature. Don't forget your bugspray; the mosquitoes were out in force. Even as we were leaving, we were already planning our next hike on these beautiful trails.

Anywhere you go in Sewanee you are surrounded by some of the most beautiful features in Tennessee and even across the nation. Any hike, even just a mile, will offer great scenery.

Flat trail good for older people on bikes or just walking. We started this trail at the University of the South and it winds around on flat ground. It is pretty long so we enjoyed it riding bikes. It is supposed to eventually end in Tracy City Tn.

The photo shown was not taken on the Mountain Goat Trail and gives a false impression of the scenery along this trail. Other reviews likewise refer to areas not a part of this trail.
The Mountain Goat Trail is approximately 5 miles long (one way). It is a level paved trail. Portions of the trail wind through wooded areas, but much of it is beside roadways and not at all scenic. It is a great trail for walkers, runners and casual bicyclers, but not a place to get a taste of local mountain scenery.

We started out by the war memorial cross located by the university of the south.
We took the blue trail and enjoyed scenic views, waterfalls and caves. You should wear good walking shoes, comfortable clothing and bring along some bottled water.
We spent only about 3 hours on the blue trail at a slow pace.
This place could be an all day adventure. I hope to return and spend the day here.
Absolutely beautiful and very peaceful.

The trail is currently being extended, Dec 2014, and will soon connect Monteagle and Sewanee. There are plans in the works to develop the section in Tracy City! This is a great addition to the South Cumberland Plateau!
