Don’t go to Spider Mountain expecting to learn how to mountain bike. This is the only lift service downhill mountain bike course in Texas. It’s super rad and I hope this is the first of many. I definitely want to check out the Thunderbird Lodge, which sits on the same property, to spend some time on Lake Buchanan next time.

I gave my husband a bike weekend with his friend here. He loved it. They were thrilled with the trails, lift and staff.

Really looked forward to mountain biking here, but the crowd was heavy, and the staff were making NO efforts to enforce distancing. (See photo for example) I will not be returning for a long time.
By the way, this park is NOT for beginner mountain bikers. The beginner Itsy-Bitsy trail has significant steep sections, hairpin turns and rocky gravel turns. You really need to be at least Intermediate level to comfortably manage the ‘novice’ trails. I would not bring little kids except those born on a mountain bike.

My husband and I took our 11y/o son and had so much fun at Spider Mountain Bike Park. There are trails for every level of rider and they are uniquely marked so that you feel like you are on a mountain in CO. This place has a real resort feel and is well kept. They have thought of everything from help getting your bikes on the lift to water and bathrooms both at the bottom and top. The staff are all very helpful and friendly. Every. Single. One of them, especially the guy servicing the bikes, Joe. He went above and beyond to make sure our rides were setup properly and we were having fun! I also hear if you stay at the lodge, you get a free lift ticket, but we camped right at the bottom of the lift. This place definitely exceeded our expectations. We will be back soon!

We are not bike riders by any means so we chose to ride the bike lift which is a re-purposed ski lift. The view is absolutely spectacular. Once at the top, there are places to sit and take in the beauty. If you're a guest of the Thunderbird Lodge, you get a reduced rate to ride just the lift. It's definitely worth it!

Solid trails, well constructed. A lot of fun. Looking forward to more trails to justify the cost. The price right now at $50 a lift ticket is far too high for the amenities offered but I think this place has huge potential.
The green run is suitable for a beginner that has some experience. The blues have some technical sections that are tougher than expected.
