‪It's been years since I visited the park. I would go there multiple times a week with a $25 season pass, walking the trails and finding the geocaches. It was always enjoyable and a mere 4 miles from my home.

But then I was seduced. Yes, Gentle Reader, seduced by the Kerrville River Trail. The concrete, 10-foot-wide trails sang their siren song, beckoning me. Ah, at first I resisted but one day after a rain that would leave the Kerrville-Schreiner Park's trails muddy and inhospitable, I succumbed and became a willing prisoner of concrete bliss.

Don't get me wrong, the River Trail is excellent and I'm sure that after heavy rains, I'll find myself there again for awhile. But the River Trail is undeniably an urban trail as it winds its way past roads and buildings--there is no seclusion and as the years past, a secluded spot to walk was what I desired. So, to Kerrville-Schreiner Park I returned.

Things had changed. The annual pass fee had doubled to $50. Still, a pittance considering I go a minimum of three days a week. If I chose to pay by the day, a year's use would be $882! And that's allowing for the approximately three weeks in December when the park is closed because of the bow hunters culling the deer population. So, $50 is still very much a bargain. And the fee also includes access to Flat Rock Lake where fishing and boating await you.

I was delighted to find that two trails had been added in my absence, the Deer Field Loop and the Teal Trail. Plus, there were add-ons to the Red and Yellow Trails. The new trails are serpentine, weaving their way back and forth through the trees. Both are narrow trails with gentle ups and downs. You will find some areas rocky but still easily navigated. And for those days when the Texas sun is relentlessly beating down, these new trails will provide ample shade, And the add-ons to the Yellow and Red Trails are very similar.

So, I'm back and I could swear I heard the trees whisper, "Welcome back, Doc; we've missed you." The feeling's mutual! Whether you're a resident or visitor, consider visiting the Hill Country gem. The trees just might talk to you, too.‬

‪I’m a local. I hike here at least 5 times per week with my two dogs. The hiking trails are amazing! Many are under beautiful canopy. Very peaceful-most days we do not see another human. Trails are well maintained and clean. The RV park here is one of the prettiest I’ve ever seen and the campsites are big and really pretty.‬

‪We stay here everytime we go to the Kerrville Ren Fest. Hookups are wonky but we just dump somewhere else and used our own. We just used the electricity. It was very quite and peaceful. The only reason it's not getting a 5 star is because of the hookups. ‬

‪We travel full time in our RV and this is one of our favorite parks and certainly our favorite city park.

It is great for camping, biking, hiking, fishing, water sports and such. This is our second time here and we will be back.

‪Clean and kid friendly. The online reservation is easy to navigate. Spots are clean for RVs and the cabins look well taken care of.‬

‪This is the 4th or 5th time staying at the one Park Cabin. Sad is has gone downhill over the years. Town shower curtain, terrible showerhead. Cabin was clean but not sure if was Covid Clean. For the price, I think they could update a little more. Only had a 4 cup coffee make. Dishes were adequate, linens provided for bed, but no towels‬

‪Beautiful, nicely developed and maintained park on the Guadalupe River in the beautiful Texas Hill Country. Hiking, biking, fishing, picnicking, camping, shaded, reasonable cost and kayak rentals. Beautiful place to relax and read or birdwatch or hang out with the family. Water was clean and easy to access even for someone wi5 difficulty walking. We will be back‬

‪We had higher expectations for this park then what it had to offer. It is on the Guadalupe River but swimming access is difficult. It seemed to be more of a camping park than a day park. There is an access fee as well unless the lodgings you are staying in offer free passes which ours did.

If you want a more child friendly park, head over to Louis Hays Park just across the Guadalupe River from downtown Kerrville which has a splash deck and lots of walking & biking trails.‬
