A must do if you’re ever visiting the Yumbo, the staff are all great and friendly. Entertainment/shows vary every night, with something for everyone. Cocktails are very decent and good price. Hands down our trip was made by Miss Ash time and time again

I'm sorry but miss Ash has made every night a night to remember from her picking up when the music dropped and carrying on as if nothing had happened (we blame rita) to her making every person feel included and bringing out some bangers for us to sing and dance to a true class act who knows how to make the audience's love every minutes and enjoy each and every minute. really a treat reason to keep coming back

What can you say about Sparkles, only in short what a fabulous bar. The terrace staff are amazing. Prompt service by all of them, friendly ,helpful and well organised.
The Queens approachable, funny, and Stunning, if you are a bit of a snowflake then you may not like the language. Its not a bar for children either.
On a Tuesday you are treated to The Sensations amazing dancing, Fridays it is The Gangsters who absolutely rock the place.
Brandon who owns Sparkles what a legend and works so hard to keep this bar in its rightful place as Number 1 drag bar in Yumbo.
Keep doing what you are doing Sparkles ✨️
Can't wait for our next visit xx

Absolutely shocking .... This is my 7th time to Gran Canaria. Over the years this place has gone from what use to be a decent bar, to an overall shocking experience.
I will agree with previous reviews . Customer service is horrendous.
When we got shown to our table. 2 minutes later we were greeted with 2 shots that we didn't even bother asking for but paid €5 per shot just to be polite (couldn't really say no , when your getting a card machine shoved in your face ). Apparently we were not the only ones this had happened to on the night and it's "known behaviour".))
The guy took our orders , I specifically asked for a bottle of beer and a gin of tonic. What I got was completely different . When I questioned it. He just looked at me with a dumb look on his face.
Once again I paid.
Entertainment - lack lustre , tired and boring are just a few politer words that come to mind. If you can actually hear what they are saying over their crappy mic system.
If you decide to go here,
Don't feel intermediated to pay by the inept bar staff and certainly don't pay for something you haven't asked for. Get up and leave they can't force you to pay!
There are much better bars in the yumbo that put on a far better show and don't con their customers.
Hint - they are not called Sparkles.

Came for sparkles reunion went for 7 nights in a row absolutely brilliant fabulous acts on every night such a laugh all the staff are lovely & friendly can’t wait to return

Spent the last few evenings/ late nights at Sparkles show bar and they have been exceptional. There is a reunion going on this week and Brandon has brought back many of the drag queen's that have worked there previously and they have been amazing. Brandon is awesome as drag queen Brandy and has come on leaps and bounds since taking ownership of the bar. (I visited last year whilst on holiday here) The shows and performances have been excellent and I have throughly enjoyed every minute here. Cannot wait to see what the rest of the week holds.
Well done Brandon for all you do, you certainly are an amazing artist. Thank you to all the Queens and terrace staff for helping us have amazing evenings out at your bar. I cannot recommend this bar enough for a fantastic fun filled night out.

Great show but drinks were watery. All the entertainers ae brilliant. Great laugh. Gut from Dublin was brilliant .

Sparkles is the premier entertainment venue at Yumbo Centre in Gran Canaria. Once open it consists of music and light entertainment for a couple of hours before show time at 11pm. The show consists of a variety of drag artists who perform various lip syncs, comedy routines and live singing performances. They pull out all the stops when it comes to their variety show, performing songs old and new and also creating comedy tracks out of iconic scripts and songs to perform to. Look out for, ‘Wired Hangers,’ which had us laughing so hard that the back of my neck felt crippled.
The artists are on the balcony from early on, greeting guests old and new and are extremely personable and welcoming. Just be careful what you share with them because nothing is sacred and if you happen to plant yourself (or be planted) up front, then you’re either going to find yourself very soaked, very ridiculed or very on the stage thrusting and girating. How much you show yourself up is dependent on how much of the 17 euro jugs of alcohol you’ve inhaled.
These queen’s don’t just bite though, they do it in six inch heels, customised outfits and with their tongue firmly in their cheek. They’re humorous but approachable, most likely sharing anecdotes of their lives through comedy and they think nothing of allowing the crowd to take pictures and get up close and personal with them. They’re celebrities in their little patch of the world but they don’t charge ridiculous fees for the pleasure of liaising with fans or audiences.
It’s a fascinating and entertaining experience because these artists are masters in their art, sidestepping the pageantry of RuPaul’s Drag Race for an altogether more complete show where each of the queen’s perform to their own strengths. Dina Mite is a seasoned performer, playing on her comedic ability to get the audience straight up laughing. Brandie, bar owner and headliner, is a lip synch assassin and sharp witted host. Ursula is a commanding vocalist who gives us powerful and dramatic performances. Then, we have Bonnie, a graceful figure who not only lip synchs but also dances like a pro. These are just a few of the queens who performed when we were there. There were so many more and it would be difficult to pinpoint every one of their amazing talents but I did not see one who didn’t have their own strengths and who weren’t absolutely astounding with the audience.
Of course, it is all about audience participation. The queens themselves will tell you without that, the show falls flat. And it is the willingness of patrons to get out of their seats, cheer and laugh, sing and dance who really enhance the experience. Nothing funnier than a straight boy from Manchester, lairy and loud, getting his just deserts in a bar full of people who wish he would shut up. Of course, these queens are razor sharp. They’ve cut their act from years of having to stand up to bigotry and it’s all there, little shadows in the background of their congenial public personas. In the end, regardless of how drunk you get, how verbally assassinated you are or how much you die the next day from the embarrassment of your own stage performance, it’s all done in the nicest possible way and most take it in the spirit is intended.
So, if you find yourself for the first time in Gran Canaria, there are a few bars you might want to check out. But, I’d certainly add this one to the top of your list. Affordable drinks, lovely terraced bar staff headed up by Raymond and an entertaining four hours of your night where you can be the star on karaoke before handing over to the professionals. You won’t regret it unless you’re a snowflake who is easily offended.

What a fabulous night out. Firstly, the service from the staff was first class and the show from the performers was excellent. My first time at a drag show and I thought it was brilliant.

Dreadful Irish drag artist who couldn’t be understood over the appalling mic system, apart from every other word coming out of her mouth was “f&ck”. So dated and mediocre. The straights probably love it because they have nothing to compare to. Definitely not family friendly unless you like your kids to hear foul language from over rated self praising queens who would struggle to get a job anywhere else.
The queen coming around selling the shots had a foul mouth on her and was about as funny as mumps.
Avoid the place. Funny Girls in Blackpool do a professional job without any swearing whatsoever.
Lilly Savage would turn in her grave if she witnessed this appalling drama.

Don't need to book for Sparkles, is good to get a seat early although the show doesn't usually start till late.Unless different thus time of year..You can sit inside or outside.

I think it is open even in December. It usually opens 8 a clock in the evening. You can always visit their Facebook (Sparkles show bar) and ask them your question about December. Good Luck to you :)
