I am writing to express my significant concerns about certain practices within mega churches, particularly in the Dallas-Fort Worth area and particularly Prestonwood Baptist Church, which may not align with the core values and principles expected of religious leadership and organizations. A notable issue is the trend of hiring family members for key positions despite a lack of relevant experience, competency and ability to lead by example with discipline of the body, the mouth and the core educational experience. This practice raises questions about the prioritization of familial ties over competence and the impact on the church's mission and financial integrity.
As churches expand, the financial demands grow correspondingly, leading to a focus that may inadvertently shift towards monetary gains rather than spiritual guidance. This shift could affect the authenticity and effectiveness of preaching, which needs to evolve to resonate with contemporary audiences without compromising the timeless truths of the faith.
Moreover, the adaptation of communication methods to today's context remains a challenge. It is crucial for the message to be delivered in a manner that is both relevant and engaging to today's congregation, which requires a deep understanding of current social and cultural dynamics. Unfortunately, some leadership practices, including the prioritization of connections with influential individuals or boasting about personal achievements, can detract from the humility and authenticity expected of church leaders.
An incident involving Jack Graham, who diverted his attention within seconds from a conversation to greet a potential influential guest that could possibly help the coffers, underscores a concern over the values being demonstrated. Such actions, can reflect a broader culture within these organizations that may prioritize status, financial gain and connections over genuine pastoral care and community building.
Furthermore, the involvement of church leaders in external businesses derived from "inside trading" within a church suggests a potential conflict of interest that needs to be addressed transparently. Purchasing real estate personally in adjacent communities, knowing the knew mega church location will bring value, offers an eyebrow raise. The credibility and integrity of church leadership are paramount, and practices that could be perceived as self-serving undermine trust and respect.
In closing, while recognizing the autonomy of religious organizations in their operational decisions, it is imperative to reflect on the foundational principles of leadership and service. The focus should remain on delivering spiritual guidance that is relevant, accessible, and above all, reflective of the values of humility, integrity, and community support. It is through adhering to these principles that churches can truly fulfill their mission and maintain the trust and respect of their congregations.Otherwise, standards of pastors must be redefined to secular standards.

Went a few times. Won’t go again. I like to meet people and feel welcome. Both times there was a money drive at the door. I wonder how Jesus feels about that….

I have lived in Plano and Dallas for 61 years, since I was 2. I'm a Christian, not Catholic, and have probably been to every Church in the area at one time or another. Chuck Swindoll's Stonebriar Church is Frisco was a favorite for the longest time, Pastor Chuck always has a great message and the people in the congregation are good, friendly. The best is the Wednesday Men's Bible Study with Steve Ferrar. But, as I've found with most churches, the larger they are the more they are run like a business rather than a church and it becomes about the money, guilting people into donated 1000s to build an addition and using intimidation, you lose the reason you're going! Prestonwood is too commercialized and full of false piety, in my opinion. Since COVID, I have begun to worship online from home. I think I will continue to do this as I feel closer to God than man now.

I attended a production in Dec 2021 with a group of friends. BLOWN AWAY. So professional and so emotional. From the contemporary Christmas songs and scenes to the stunning birth of the Savior. Watching the 3 kings and their entourage, to all the live animals and the Heavenly Host flying through the air was nearly two hours of non-stop performance. I've been to Hollywood, Broadway, Radio City Music Hall, and Prestonwood is a great as anything I've witnessed in those performance venues.
We will go back next year and take as many others as we can to witness the extravaganza!

If you want to go to a christmas show where you feel Big Brother watching you, this is the show for you. I went to Gift of Christmas with two of my friends who had gone to this show 8 years ago. Perhaps it has changed a lot since then, or they were much younger, but it was nothing like they remembered. The production quality is amazing, the first Act had me saying how surprised I was about how secular it was... then the dark screen talking about the void of the world came on. The next hour and a half of the show was one of the craziest and most reviling things I may ever witness in my life. It is made abundantly clear, if you are not exactly what this church wants, you are not welcome. They preach the judgement of God, but personally I felt more judged by the parishioners and preacher with a net worth of over 10 million dollars. Not to mention how simply disrespectful this felt to anything named Christianity... and this comes from a person who is respectfully not the most religious (but grew up in religious schools and is very open to religion and the word of god.)

Q. Could you hack getting USDA Prime Filet Mignon steaks dished out regularly? That’s sorta what this place is like, but yeah in a spiritual Way! Master communicator, Dr. Jack Graham, delivers the best kind of groceries to the hungry sheep if ya will, and to those thirsty for what’s so. With excellence he does this to bless, to nourish, to strengthen and to encourage the hearers. Yep, he also does this with others on the outside in mind!
Why primarily? Pstr Graham does this primarily to glorify God! And it’s easy to see.
I love to see new people coming to Christ weekly here! This is a grace-church that doesn’t abuse Gods’ free grace. Of course “abuse” is an overused term today—America has way too many victims pointing the finger of blame or accusation. But many wayward, wandering and spiritually abused individuals have found their way to this church for full comfort, nurture, edification and restoration in Christ. Jesus alone is the main Answer here! Hey, this is not some “celebrity driven personality cult” of sorts. This is one of the soundest local Christian churches in the Dallas Metroplex area that I have found. It is totally worth a long or short drive to get there and we all know that Texans can handle the commute on any day of the week. It’s not sectarian at all. Touching nations, different kinds of church and we’ve seen them come in from Waco or Tyler weekly.

Traditional conservative Biblical principles unapologetically preached and taught in 3 different services on Sunday and a Saturday night service and in multiple bible studies. Multi-language services are also available. Great worship music. Children, youth, teen, college, and single adult specialty areas minister to all age groups. Personalized Bible study groups for personal needs or desires. Out of this world childcare in a place specifically designed with your child’s needs in mind in a very secure environment. Special needs children’s area also available to help them feel just like other kids.
It is the personal connections that help us do life together and you will find that here.

Lots of people visit this church; You wont fit in though. If your child does not attend the $21,000 per year Prestonwood Academy, you wont find friends. The core members are wealthy and somewhat shallow and deeply , strongly conservative. The pastor is very political, and he loves to drop Trumps name and even wishes him happy birthday on Twitter. The Pastor also has a slight mean streak that will slip out sometimes. I have escorted an family member here for years; I know exactly what I am talking about.

Why do people write reviews for a contemporary church on Tripadvisor? I thought this was supposed to be a site about tourist attractions, not about Christian evangelism or a guide to churches.
