‪A nice place to get out and be one with nature. If you don't want to walk around your neighborhood, this is a fantastic, short, easy hike to do. You have multiple places to stop, relax, take a break and enjoy some snacks. Bring water, as it getting hotter and muggier outside. Also bring your bug spray or other form of bug repellant before you hike. So close by to us, we'll be coming back often.‬

‪There is a small river where the boys could paddle in that hot day. We also went to the train for a ride that we all enjoyed. We walked for miles to see all the nature park had to offer and both boys required a nap to regenerate...as did we!‬

‪Crescent band is the perfect place to take a quiet walk in the morning. It has plenty of nice trails and scenery. We regularly go there to walk our puppy. ‬

‪We enjoyed our walk. We did encounter a rattlesnake on the trail, so just be cautious. The walking trails are well kept. There are shaded picnic areas and birds to watch. ‬

‪Very well kept. clean walking trails, very peaceful. There is poison oak/poison ivy down by the creek, but they have signs. Be careful! But it's a really nice park to spend some quiet time.‬

‪You really have to know this place exists to find it. It is tucked out of the way which is good in a sense.

Looking for the place, Take FR 78 coming from the Universal City and Randolph area. Continue for miles until you pass the intersection 1103. Shortly after that intersection with a traffic light the road will curve. You will see a small park sign at the bottom of the curve. Do not go there. Continue about another couple hundred meters until you see the sign for "Main" street. The main street road is in poor condition and likely will remain so until the finish the construction in this area. You will eventually come to a T intersection. Take a right. After a mile the road will deep down to a low water crossing type bridge and it will continue back up almost straight into the park. You should already have seen the sign by this point.

There are several parking spots. The first one has a few slots including handicapped slots. the trail to follow will actually be behind you and leads into the field. You are by no means obligated to follow the main trail. There are plenty of places to walk other than the main trail. There is more parking further down the paved road and these other parking areas are across from about 6 or so picnic tables so that is available here.

If you are on the first parking lot and follow the path on the right side you will see the park rules sign. A little further on you will see the park map. Past that are the bathrooms and the water fountains for furry friends and humans.

Continue on up the path and cross an asphalt road and it will take you to a bird blind which has an excellent setup for photographing different birds. Someone has been taking pretty good care of this area.

Back down to the main path it circles from the south and you can go clockwise or counterclockwise as the main path is just one big circle about 1.5 miles long give or take. It is I believe a crushed granite type path. It is good for walking and running and many people take their dogs here. You can use a stroller but you will have better success if you have the bigger thicker wheels verse the narrow ones.

As previously mentioned their are a few red fire ant nests along the path and the little buggers are pretty much all over the path in these areas. As long as you are wearing full covered shoes and don't stop walking in these areas you will be fine.

I was wearing open sandals and between having to stomp a few times to ensure the ants did not hitch a ride and the tiny pieces of rock doing their best to imitate legos, I decided sandals are not the best idea. Stick with closed shoes like tennis shoes or runners.

I took the counterclockwise route and along the way it was very evident there was a great deal of wildlife in this area. You can easily see dozens of animal paths and bed down areas along the path. It was getting close to sundown and usually the deer come out by this time but not this evening. Perhaps the dog going nuts on the west side of the park did not help any.

Along the path you will see some small side trails that lead down to the small river/large stream on the east side. There are signs warning of poisonous flora but I had no issues making it down to the bank and getting a few photos of the river. It was evident that people do hang out down here and one spot had the remains of a campfire.

Along the path I did manage to capture a pretty inquisitive squirrel who seemed to have little fear of me so I was able to get in a little closer and photograph it. There were a few more things along the path such as two very tall palms that were out of place. There were also a few bamboo groves and combining that with the remains of the roads I believe this could have been a trailer park at some point in time or a failed real estate endeavor and some of the out of place plants were a result of that.

Along the path were a few park benches placed in good locations.

I did not see any trash anywhere. I did not see any vehicles carrying trash. This park was VERY clean. Kudos to the staff who maintain it and the citizenry who enjoy it and help keep it clean.

I did see a lady running a dog obediance class on my way back to the parking lot.

This is a great park for runners and walkers of all ages. The full circuit is about 1.5 miles. At my leisurely limp with diversions it took me 1:15 to go around it. Anybody else can get around it much quicker. It is dog friendly, no horses. There are no playgrounds or any other man made structures designed to entertain kids. Instead of the standard images on pedestals describing flora and fauna you need a smart phone with mobile data to read the Q codes instead. Boo! I come here to get away from smart phones.

Please enjoy it as much as I did.‬

‪Major cleanup is needed. It looks like the park is being used as a dump for the city. Trucks were hailing in and dumping trash on my first and only trip to the park.‬

‪This park is not very well known, is in a hidden location off the main traffic. It is not always well kept. Very large area.‬
