Our views of this magnificent forest began on the southern end, while driving up highway 6. The Argyle Ridge is a wonder and Gray Head and Indian Head Peaks are glorious. We continued to enjoy the view of this wonderful forest on our right, as we resumed our drive to Snowbird.

The Uinta National Forest is one of the most spectacular places in Utah. I have been in many of the mountains of Utah and the Uintas are hard to beat. Endless lakes to fish and the scenery never gets old. I love spending time here in summer and winter both. The snowmobiling is world class.

Went in December and the snow was so beautiful. Awesome snow mobile trails at no cost. Would love to visit during the spring.

We enjoyed an early fall snowfall along Highway 40 up into the Unitas. Beautiful, but you will feel safer with 4WD.

Conveniently minutes away from Orem / Provo but distant from the hustle and bustle of modern society.
Campsites are easily accessible. Walking / hiking trails offer different levels of challenge. All of it provides you with beautiful vistas of the local mountains and the Utah Valley.

My wife and I drove up Provo Canyon past the Sundance Resort to take the Alpine Loop drive through the Uintas National Forest. The clouds were a bit low on the mountain, but the drive was still beautiful. The road is narrow with a lot of switchbacks and we were glad to have a Jeep instead of a larger vehicle. The aspen leaves were just beginning to turn and gave glimpses of the coming glory. The road on the Provo end of the loop is wider and better than that on the Provo Canyon end.

The Uinta National Forest of gorgeous. There is so much to see and do. The fishing is awesome, camping incredible and the views are amazing. The drive alone is worth the drive. The fall colors bring in spectacular colors on both sides of the road. There are back roads for 4 wheelers and motorcycles, old mines that the Spaniards created back in the 17th century. It's near the Ute Indian reservation. Lots to see and do..
