Wonderful docent couple, very informative! Robert Frost's grave was in the cemetery attached to this wonderful church!

Beautiful church with a friendly staff! The church itself is absolutely breathtaking, and the location is gorgeous! The staff are very knowledgeable and helpful.

We were lucky that we arrived at 11am, just as the volunteer was opening the church for visitors. Kathy gave us very detailed information about the history of the church and allowed us to wonder at leisure. She also shared with us a map of a walking tour of the historic area of Bennington, and told us all she knew. It was well worth the stop.

We passed by on a Sunday afternoon and the church was opened. We loved the bright looking white interior with it's box pews and we enjoyed talking to the guide. The church has a small gift area. We purchased a very interesting small book, "Old First Church: A Historic Glimpse" for 50 cents. We also bought a book entitled "The Battle of Bennington, and a postcard of the beautiful church interior.

Typical New England church in a quiet neighborhood. Not really impressed by the architecture but probably holds more appeal for history buffs.

Old First Congregational Church is just what one would expect a New England Church to look like. It is in a lovely area in a quiet section of the town.

Typical New England church on a small green. Very interesting cemetery around it that contains the grave of Robert Frost. Good quick stop to feel the local atmosphere.

This was the first of several sites we visited in Bennington. It was beautiful, peaceful, and picturesque. There is a lot of history in Bennington, so it seemed right to start with a church based on “separation of church and state”. The walk through the cemetery was interesting and gave a sense of calm and peace. We visited Robert Frost’s grave and read some of his poetry.

Built in 1809 and still in use, it is pristine white inside and reminiscent of Old North church in Boston. The adjacent cemetery includes Robert Frost's grave, Revolutionary War soldiers, Battle of Bennington casualties and governors. Lovely walk from the church to Bennington Monument (park at the Monument)

We are planning a bus tour to the Bennington Area on September 19th and 20th and would like to include the First Congretional Church in the tour. Are there tour guides available to meet with our group of approx. 50 people to take us through the church and tell us the history of the church? Also, is the place for us to park a tour bus?

I am sorry we did not see this question before your bus tour. We have just found out how popular we are on Tripadvisor! We hope you just stopped past!
The church regularly has tours come, in season and out. A group can set up a date and time through our office and we will be at the church to welcome you with a short tour and then time for questions. There is space to park on the street beside the cemetery.
