My husband and I had a wonderful time tasting several beers on the deck at Long Trail recently. I like their covered outdoor setup next to the river, and our server was very accommodating. The Vermont IPA was my favorite. We didn't realize we needed a reservation (Covid protocol?), but they were able to accommodate us anyway. Definitely recommend.

Fun and relaxing environment at the brewery! We sat outside and had a great meal with fabulous beer options! The BBQ brisket sandwich was delicious. Our server, Roy, was attentive, personable, and was able to steer us to the beer that suited our tastes best. My husband loves IPAs, while I look for the lightest beer on the menu. Roy hit the mark on suggestions for both of us! We had a beautiful view of the river from our table and took a walk down to the water after dinner. Great place!

Came here on one of the last days of our vacation hoping to have a bit a celebratory dinner. The dining choices aren't great and the service was slow and disinterested. The room was also freezing and we had to relocate to right next to the fireplace to stay warm. We are craft brew fans but we would have chosen another option if we knew it would be such a let down.

Last year, my son and I spent a disappointing hour at the Harpoon Brewery on a tediously slow tour delivered by novices, where everyone seemed more concerned about earning an extra buck than having customers walk away with a good feeling about the company and its beer. This year, the opposite occurred at Long Trail Brewery.
Friendly, laid back, and accommodating are words I would use to describe the people at the brewery last Tuesday afternoon. While some folks were sitting around the bar eating and drinking, I just wanted to taste a few beer samples and be on my merry way ASAP. Two different servers encouraged me to try as many as I wanted, and I ended up tasting four different varieties, getting descriptions on the brewing process for each whenever I asked. Nothing was thrown in my face. Long Trail’s philosophy is clearly to live and let live; let the drinker drink, and good things will happen.
After my samples, I decided to take home a varied six-pack, and the gentleman managing that section was super cool as well. He wasn’t a stickler for the types and sizes of the beers; he even threw in a freebie given our conversations and my inability to choose.
There was even an open pathway upstairs to see the brewing operations top down while reading about the process on the well-marked displays. Self-education for us in a few minutes was so much more pleasant than having to sit through another one of those long formal tours whose duration tends to justify the price that doesn't need to be charged in the first place.
Long Trail Brewing company’s marketing strategy was effective. I walked away really happy about the Long Trail brand and pleasantly surprised by several of its beer. Whereas Harpoon -- brewers of my once my favorite IPA -- dropped on my happy list last year like the stock market crash of 1987, Long Trail gained a huge fan this year. I’m ready to give them a much more serious look next time I head to the package store.

Never disappoints! Great food and great beer can't go wrong with that combo. Always make it a point to stop when in the area.

In our quest to stay out of the larger, commercialized stores/businesses, we found Long Trail. Such fun! It was our 36th anniversary and I usually long for a quiet expensive dinner, instead we had some great local beer, fabulous wings, fried pickles and an awesome burger! We even got to take our beer down to the river and sit for a bit. What an afternoon! Thanks

My boyfriend and I went to this brewery to meet his nephew for some beer and dinner. The place is very nice and the view of the river was beautiful. Our server Roy was very helpful and friendly. We enjoyed our meal and the beers we drank. My boyfriend got a growler to go. I would definitely go back there the next time I visit Vermont

Nice little brewery on the outskirts of Woodstock. There is an observation deck so you can watch the process.

We asked to be seated and were told it would be 20 minutes for our group of 4; we took a buzzer. This place was hopping.
We attempted to get beers to try while we waited. After 5 minutes of watching the busy bartenders serve everyone around us, we decided to just check out the brewery operation from the catwalk and get our drinks after with our food order. The catwalk "tour" was nothing special. The menu was basically appetizers, which was what we wanted.
We hung around for more than the advised 20 minutes without being seated, then decided to leave.
We were a bit disappointed.

We're working on creative ways to better utilize the catwalk space to cut down wait times. It does get very busy in the winter months, especially with après-ski crowd. After a long day of snowshoeing, we decided to have some dinner at this brewery. Of course, we started with a beer tasting; this brewery has two pre-set tasting options with four samples apiece. My husband had the Long Trail sampler, while I enjoyed the Farmhouse sampler. Of course, we ended up trying them all!
I particularly liked the Cranberry Gose (sour), but we both really liked the Double Bag (german-style ale). This establishment also offers a large food menu...it was difficult to choose something to eat, but we ended up splitting the nachos and poutine appetizers.
We also really liked the atmosphere; it's like a large, cozy ski lodge inside, complete with a roaring fire and a place to lay wet clothing! It was clear that most of the clientele had been out skiing for the day.
If you're in the area and want to try some excellent brews, this is the place!

Can we bring our dog on the deck?

Unfortunately the State of Vermont Health codes do not allow animals anywhere we serve food and drink. Because we serve outside on our deck, and enclosed riverside seating, we can only allow dogs in our dog area just outside of our fenced area. We do provide water bowls and a place to tie your dog with a leash. You are also welcome to leave your table to check on you dog, however, alcoholic beverages are not permitted outside our service area.
