Ferry is ok. The staff at the booth are rude sometimes. Said hello today and the cashier ignored it and replied just you. At the end handed me my receipt with a disgusted look. I said have a great day and he walked away. Nice to see that the employees don’t care about customer experience.

Very convenient transport across Lake Champlain. The staff are always friendly. The best time of the year to cross is the fall when the leaves are changing….. beautiful view!

We rode from Essex, NY to Shelburne, VT and were glad for the experience. The crew got us orderly onboard and accommodated the orderly departure from the vessel as well.

Well worth the $ if you want to visit the other side of the lake. I thought it was a little confusing to find but I'm glad I did! This is the only way I would have visited Burlington, VT as the drive would have been too long from Plattsburgh where I was staying.

The cruise was 90 minutes long. The was awesome with lots and lots of sunshine and temperatures in the 70's. There are 3 decks. You can sit outside on two of them. Refreshments are available at tables both inside and outside. The narration was outstanding! You could understand what was being said at all areas of the ship. The scenery was equally amazing! The ride was smooth. I can't wait to do this again with some friends of mine. Well worth the trip to Vermont.

The cruise is 90 minutes long and well worth it. Refreshments are a little expensive but they always are on these trips. Great scenery and good info from the narration.

The ferries cut about an hour off the trip from Burlington to Plattsburgh. The cost of the ferry for car and driver plus one passenger was $16. The crossing takes about 15 minutes. We did a round trip and it was smooth both ways although I hear it can get choppy. The ferries run about every 15 minutes until late at night and then the wait is somewhat longer but they are a 7x24x365 operation.

We got on the ferry run between Burlington and Port Kent NY, which takes about an hour. The ferry leaves from a terminal a few blocks from downtown Burlington located in the lakeside park.
We took the trip strictly for the purpose of sight-seeing. There isn't much to see in Port Kent, other than some okay views looking back to Vermont, but the return ferries run almost every hour during the summer. These are good sized car carrying ferries with a snack bar and indoor seating. But we spent the entire time up on deck waiting to see something interesting. That never really happened though.

We took the ferry from Burlington going to Akwaaasne Casino.It was smooth ride.My friends and I enjoyed it even it just a short ride.We got to get out from the car and walk around and take pictures after the boarding.One car and a driver is $11.25 and then $5 each passenger

We had terrible experience today. They asked us to open the car trunk for inspection. They didn't ask anyone else to do so.It was a racial act.we felt insulted.

Hi there, we are in Burlington (driving a hire car from NYC) in two weeks time. We are planning to get a Greyhound or train across the border to get to Montreal, but if we could get there by water then train from Burlington that would be lovely. Is there such a thing as a ferry across the border, then a train to Montreal?

The South Hero (Grand Isle) ferry runs year round, just not as often (I think they only use 2 ferries in the winter).

Depends on which crossing you chose to use. Essex-Charlotte and Plattsburgh (Cumberland Head)-Grand Isle are priced the same: Vehicle & driver $ 10.75. Additional adult $ 4.50 each. Vehicles over 19’ are charged according to length
Port Kent-Burlington ( a much longer crossing): Vehicle & driver $ 30.00, additional adult $ 8.00 each. Once again vehicles over 19’ are charged according to length.
Hope this info helps.
Why does it cost more for 4 passengers than it does for a car and a driver . I could understand a buck maybe but they take up no more room on the ferry

Extra weight means extra fuel. The ferry is quite reasonably priced considering the alternative.

Is this where I get the ferry to Fort Ticonderoga? If so what is the schedule, cost and is the Fort close by to where boat docks?

No, the Fort Ticonderoga Ferry is about 55 miles south of the Burlington Port Kent crossing. There is also a ferry crossing between Essex NY and Charlotte VT about 15 miles south of Burlington.
You should be able to get more information on the Fort Ti Ferry via a google search.
It is a short but scenic ride and very close to the entrance to the Fort itself v
