We and everyone else clearly ignored the signs, or we were goaded on by them, warning of the number of people that have died at the falls. Current entrance for the day pass is $4 per adult; the hike is generally flat for the first 2 miles while the last 1.1 to the falls is steeper and rockier. It is all worth the reward with the cool water in the pools once there. Dogs welcome on leashes.

We very much enjoyed our morning hike at Jamaica State Park. We took the main trail and stopped several times for photos along the rocks in the river. The trail is well maintained and we really enjoyed the view from the top of the Dam. Overall a great 4 hrs of exercise with a worthy final view on good trails. We did not bventure too far off the side trails, which looked more challenging. We were in the area to stop at Jamaica Cottage Shop, Made for a great day!

Nice park that had camping areas with covered shelters and picnic tables. A couple shelters had wheel chair access so that was nice. There was a playground at the end. The river was pretty. Easy walk on a paved road. Volleyball net and they had restrooms. BUT!! restrooms were closed for the season. (Being fall, I'm not sure what season they meant) I would go back.

We were staying near Jamaica State Park at Winhall Brook and had read about Hamilton Falls. Sounded like a good hike so we decided to explore. Accessing it from the state park makes it a 3 mile one way hike. The first 2 miles are flat with a wide, nicely maintained path that runs along the creek. At Mile 2, you'll see a sign on your right for Hamilton Falls. That trail is more narrow and rocky, which leads to the waterfall. This 1-mile trail is where you get your elevation. It's basically up for a mile but not at so steep that it would be an issue if you are fine with some elevation. We are from Florida, so flatlanders. We are also 67 years old but had no issues with the hike. The waterfall is stunning. It's also the highest waterfall in Vermont (125 ft). There was an older man arriving as we were leaving. He was wearing moccasins which we thought odd for a hike. We met a couple on our way back along the trail who told us he is a local. He'd hiked in a different, shorter path. They also called him, "Mr. Hamilton." Apparently, when Mr. Hamilton visits the Falls from time to time, he likes to disrobe and stand in front of the Falls naked as if it were some sort of religious experience. We laughed but agreed we were glad we'd left before the show. We didn't care except for the fact that children also go with their parents on this hike which we did not think was such a good idea if they were to run into the Hamilton "show." I guess no one knows when he'll be there and it's a tough thing to monitor

Beautiful hike. Flat for first 2 miles. Then uphill for one mile . Waterfall at end with 2 swimming holes. Very refreshing after hike

The park charges $4 per person for a fee and its staff hands you a park trail guide.
We aimed to hike to the Hamilton Falls but we deviated when we saw the trail to the Overlook. This trail is blazed (meaning trees have a vertical rectangle blue paint to guide hikers which way to go). It is a trail that keeps going up although tree roots sort of serve as stairs and has several strenuous climbs as well as descents. There was a huge rock that I would likely have negotiated by going down on my behind if my husband was not with me. It has moss and was slippery. On the way back from the Overlook to the campground, there were 4-6 muddy portions of the trail that we worked around on.
Going up the Overlook trail after the Dumplings from the West River trail was shady with no breeze and with mosquitoes buzzing. We kept fanning and hydrating ourselves as it was warm and to minimize insect bites. Once you reach the ledge on a wide rock cliff, it’s worth it! The breeze was so refreshing and the vista is beautiful!
We may go back one day to hike the river trail and continue to the Hamilton Falls Trail to see the falls.
It is an enjoyable hike and good exercise.
There are American Standard bathrooms with toilet seats provided😊.
Note: Using the GPS to get to Hamilton Falls, you will be directed to the top of the falls through private property. You’ll see Dead End and Private Property signs and think you’re lost. Set your destination as Jamaica State Park in order to avoid that. In the State Park your view of the falls will be from the ground.

This park is a wonderful place to hike. Wide and clean trials ( a few muddy spots). Hamilton Falls is a must see; go early in the day to beat the crowd.

This was terrible. Tons of bugs, overgrown trails, water was stagnant and disgusting. Hamilton Falls was the worst the hike, it is really long and the trail is in disrepair. There is no way to get to the waterfall in a car because the locals blocked all the parking.

Stopped by for the afternoon to hike. Well marked trails and clean bathrooms. Plenty of rocks to walk on and stop for a swim. We went to the dam; not the impressive but different nonetheless. Fun, economical way to spend a summer afternoon. Plenty of parking and not too crowded. Most folks respected social distancing and wore masks.

We visited the park in the winter, so there were only a few people around, but the landscape was gorgeous and the camping sites looked well-maintained. We went for a pleasant hike with our 6 year old and stopped for him to play in the playground for a bit before heading home. We saw enough to know that we will make a point of coming back!

No I don't believe they have water and electric hookup. It is all basic camping with no utilities as far as I know.
