In many cases people tend to put the experience before the person, but can we just start off by saying George is awesome! My husband and I felt like we were talking to a friend during the experience we had which was the demonstration and shop tour! It was so cool to hear about his story and how he got into this line if work! The demonstration was so cool! We got to see him do some metal work and he answered all of our questions! And of course we had to get some of his awesome workmanship to go! Highly recommend the metal rose! Knowing the work that goes into it makes it all the more special! Hope to be back soon :)

Experienced George's 3-day course and learned everything, and more, that I had hoped to learn! Very welcoming environment, many different tools and materials, and George's excellent tutelage on the smaller projects he uses in his approach of educating the class as well as assisting the students with their personal projects made this one exceptional weekend. No questions went unanswered, no goal left incomplete. I'll be continuing to work on the skills I learned here and look forward to another weekend at the Village Blacksmith.
100% recommend for anyone interested in the art to at least check out the shop and to go ahead and sign-up for the classes. You'll only regret not doing it.

Our family of four participated in the 3day course. We had a blast. We worked hard and learned a ton. Highly recommend this outfit.

We brought the whole family to the Village Blacksmith and we were not disappointed! It was a fun time learning about the skills of the trade. George made it very interesting and even involved my small children. We will definitely be coming back! We are looking forward to coming back!

The Village Blacksmith first ever "Date Night" was so amazing. I can't say enough about how nice George is. Our night was full of jokes, demos and even got to participate in making grill skewers. If you want a piece of custom ironwork done like a fancy scroll work piece for your front gate, this is the place. This is equivalent to a guys paint night, super fun and a real craft.

My son and I spend three days with George, who has a great experience planned out for beginner blacksmiths - we each really enjoyed the time, which gets you right into blacksmithing - hands on right away. Good for both of us. George is a former Navy Hull Technician and understands both modern and ancient methods of the smith. Had a great time, would definitely recommend.

This show is great for anybody interested in metallurgy. I have both classroom and work experience with heat treatment of metals. Naturally, I was interested. I know that different properties can be obtained from the metal based upon the amount of heat and quenching, etc. I'm not sure if, in colonial times, the blacksmith knew that he was getting different properties based upon his quenching, etc. Its a must-see for anybody interested in metallurgy!

I recently took the 1-day introductory blacksmithing along with a group of friends. George is an excellent blacksmith and teacher; taking a group with zero experience and guiding us through all the methods, steps, and any mistakes to create a polished finished product. He gives each participant individual attention and assistance while still keeping the pace comfortable for everyone involved. I loved how this class jumped straight into it - we had the hammer in our hands and metal in the forge shortly after getting an overview and safety briefing. By the end of the class we all had tools we'd made from scratch, able to be used in our day-to-day lives, and a great deal more knowledge than we came with. This course is great for anyone who likes to create, and enjoys hands-on work. I also can't say enough about how friendly, accommodating, and fun George was; it was great to spend the day learning from him.

I had the pleasure of meeting George during a 1-day class to learn the basics. George is a talented blacksmith who clearly enjoys seeing people learn his craft. He taught us, assisted us, and entertained us. I concur with George that it is some of the best fun I've had working hard and getting dirty in a long time! The class was an awesome learning experience, but if you don't have the time for that, drop by and check out his showroom. There's some unique pieces of his work for purchase there and you may just catch a glimpse of him at the anvil.
