It’s a craze to see a hanging flyover but this was way too crowded in the evening. I was feeling dizzy and so many people were there along with the 2-wheelers on it. Maybe the number of people at once should be reduced.

It's a suspension bridge. Lakshman Jhula is closed, so if you are visiting Rishikesh, go for a walk on Ram Jhula.

Ram Jhula is similar to Lakshmana Jhula which is also an iron suspension bridge across the river Ganga. Located 2 km away from Lakshmana Jhula. This bridge connects the Shivananda Nagar area of Muni Ki Reti in Tehri Garhwal district to Swarga ashram in Pauri Garhwal district crossing the river from West to east.
Shivananda ashram, Yoga Niketan ashram and Omkarnanda ashram is located at one end of Ram Jhula and the other end has Swarg Ashram, Gita Bhavan and Parmarth Niketan Ashram. So if you visit Ram Jhula and Lakshmana Jhula you will almost cover major tourist places of Rishikesh.
This Bridge is also constructed in 1989 for Pedestrians like Lakshmana Jhula. There is no historical story and it is not related to Ramayana. It is constructed just near to Lakshmana Jhula so this bridge name is mentioned as Ram Jhula

The place still is exciting when you walk on it. There are people all around, bikes wanting to cross, the bridge vibrates a bit when someone jumps, but good experience.

Beautiful sight at night as its lit up with lights.
You can actually have a walk on this jhula with cool breeze. At present do take care as no covid protocols are followed. Thus you are ought to get covid looking at the rush & people around. There is one well known chotiwala restaurant to eat.

Most Likely the Ferry would not run in heavy rain & thunderstorms. But needs to be checked with booking office onsite.

Hello and thank you. I am staying near Laxman Jhule and need to visit the Swami Swatantranand Ashram in Chandrreshwar Nager daily. I would like to walk there is it is walkable. Googlemaps says it is 55 minutes. Is it walkable??

In morning you may walk, though I find the road near RamJhula is somewhat dangerous for walking - if you move one side to be safe from a passing vehicle you may suddenly negotiate a deep gorge type drop in the road flank which is too dangerous !.And as there are no pedestarian walks flanking the road my advise is to avoid walking and take some local transport like Auto as the auto wallah is familiar too with the town.
Namaste,
Does some kind person have the contact details - email & phone number for staying in "Swami Swatantranand Ashram" (Shisham Jhari, Rishikesh, India)
Blessings to you.

Not so sure you can visit Badrinath, Kedarnath etc. in the winter months. I was speaking to a sadhu from the Mata Murti temple in Badrinath and he mentioned that the best times to visit is is May, June, and July. I do know they close the roads in and out in Winter. Not sure about October. Haridwar is quite close to Rishikesh and would recommend that you stay and spend more of your time in Rishikesh than Haridwar. Also, I was speaking to the rafting company I used and they also mentioned that during some of the months the Ganga is too high and unsafe to raft. You may wish to also look into this. You truly do not want to visit Rishikesh without rafting. Again, not exactly sure of the months that the Ganga becomes unsafe and they do not allow rafting but I think that is more during the summer months when the glacier melt is impacting it so October - November should be fine.
I cannot help you with your travel plans with respect to trains. Never used them. We flew into Dehra Dun airport and took a cab (about 30-45 min.) to Rishikesh. Then used a scooter or hiked to get around Rishikesh/Haridwar.
Sorry I couldn't be more helpful.
