‪It was almost a two hour drive from L Meridien suite where we stay, but it was quite relaxing and refreshing upon reaching the place. We climbed down more than 300 steps (stiff stairs) to see this majestic falls. Awesome as we again connect to Nature. The area is clean and only few people were there when we arrived. We enjoyed every bit of seconds that we stay at the falls.‬

‪Quite fsr from Zamboanga City town. It took almost 2 hours via van. From the highway there is a sign to the falls but after that you can ask the locals for the direction since there is no sign when you see intersections. there is a parking area for 20 pesos only. no entrance fee for the visitors and a 354 steps going down. the falls is at its best during rainy season. we went there summer but it rained days prior. going up is quite challenging but there are seats available to rest.‬

‪We were not able to see the best view it can offer since it's summer. Love the rocks and fresh water though❤️‬

‪From zamboanga integrates bus terminal i rode a van and paid P140. They drop me at Barangay Vitali which is 2 hours away from the terminal. From Barangay Vitali i rode a habal-habal (motorcycle) going to the falls drop off point. The driver was kind enough to tour me there. I paid P200 fare (back and forth). Be ready for a bumpy ride. Bring hats, shades, and wear sunblock. From the drop off point you have to go down a stairs that has 300 plus steps. And then to go back you have to climb it after (there is no other way). It actually caused muscle pain on my legs the day after. The falls doest look like it is beeing maintained even if there is a P5 enttance fee. There is a big branch blocking the view if the falls. Anyway if you are already in Zamboanga might as well go here for adventure.‬

‪If you enjoy exploring nature and virgin waterfalls, then by all means visit this place. It takes 2 hours to go here from Zamboanga City's town proper, and another 2 hours to go back.

The water is nice, but the huge rocks are a bit slippery and dangerous if you're not sure-footed. It's really nice to witness the beauty of un-corrupted nature. But it is not mind-blowing. It's just, "Okay there's a waterfall". That's it.

Bring your own food. Bring extra dry clothes, towels, and the like.

As for going back, I think I wouldn't. Once is enough. I already enjoyed it. There is nothing really special for me to go back there.‬

‪It's a long trip to get there from the IBS in Divisoria, so be sure to bring drinks and snacks to eat during your trip. Once you get off the bus or van, you'll need to ride a habal-habal to get to the location. Once you get there, you have to climb down flights of steep stairs to actually get to the fall itself. It's a pretty place-- can be prettier if the cottages are well-maintained. Don't swim in the stagnant pools of water-- my friends and I got diarrhea.‬

‪Banish all preconceived notion that this is a majestic waterfalls. It is not because it is not a big waterfalls. But i t is beautiful in pictures (IG fans will agree). A bit far from the city and will take most of your day to get there and come back. Beware that there is no toilet there, so bring a sarong if you want to change into dry clothes.‬

‪This is a beautiful stunning falls about 2 hour drive from Zamboanga city. When the short cut is ready it will cut the journey by half an hour. Our driver took the short cut going n the long way home. The shorter road still under construction n could be dangerous in rainy weather.
When you reach the falls...you parked your car n registered yourself at a small hut. There is a small shop in which you can buy water n titbits. Then you go down a flight of concrete steps 357 steps to reach the falls.
View is stunning.you can climb by a side road to reach the pool at the top.water unfortunately was not clear due to the rain the night before.you could swim in d shallow pool or just sit hours in the cascade of water.
Reserve some energy as you will need to climb 357 steps back up n that is tedious n sap your energy.
Entrance fee p5 n parking fee p20 n huts for rent p200.

‪My entire family planned to visit this amzing falls in zmaboanga.. we are locals and we are a brood of 20 so rented 2 vans who are owned by manong adam.. he gave us a good price and offered to stay with us the entire time with his other driver... contact number of manong: 09178799967

The drive from city to vitali area took us almost 2 hours then we took a left turn before entering vitali area proper where the street is narrower but well cemented.. this took us another 30minutes before we reached the place where merloquet falls is within walking distance..

Upon arrival, there is an alloted parking space for visitors where 20 pesos is charged for each van.. we also paid 5 pesos for each person.. we paid at the small sari sari store where we registered our vehicles.. located at the back is a small but clean toilet area you can use for 5 pesos..

Each of us got our own things to carry.. even the two drivers helped.. although we only brought disposable plates and cups, they were still a lot since we also brought food for lunch, chicken, fish, pancit, tons of rice, water...

We walked a few meters downhill towards the cemented and well paved steps.. although we were ready for the hike, descending down 370 steps really shook our knees.. i suggest you take it slow and take ur time because you will still get there for sure :) it was not an easy decent but our knees steadied fast on the last step since you get the immediate glimpse of the falls.. a few steps further will lead u to the cottages where we placed our food and things..

We didnt get to rest because esch of us took in the beauty of merloquet falls.. aghast but relaxed and thankful for this beauty right before our eyes.. the pictures showed us wider shot of the falls but in reality it was smaller but the beauty of the falls had satisfied our expectations..

Pictures, selfies were done.. and after taking our lunch almost all of us even my parents who are at 57 and at 62 years old, trekked the river and climbed the rocks towards the falls itself.. our 3 year old niece was also able to climb and we super enjoyed evry moment of falls falling down on us like it was massaging our heads and bodies.. we felt like kids that day.. other tourists were also present.. not crowded but enough to feel safe and secure..

There is another level of the falls where u can climb steeper trails.. my brothers took the strenght to appreciate the second level.. although i did not attempt, by their reactions i knew it was also amazing.. they said the swimming area on second level was wider and deeper.. the falls shorter.. but it was the same good feeling..

We collected our stuff and paid 200 pesos for 2 cottages.. there was a small shack area for changing clothes to dry up we used for free.. then we got ready for the ascend..

I personally took my time really.. there were approximately 6 rest areas in between the steps.. i climbed slowly.. the rest of my strong brothers and two drivers carried most of our belongings.. my parents also took time to rest well in between.. we all made it up with satisfied struggles of our own.. we laughed during the hike up even if it pained our bodies..

It was a satisfying and worthy travel.. we would all love to go back.. on the trip back home we opted another trail instead of going back to vitali we opted to take the sibulao/tagasilay route out toward the main road.. althougg the trail was shorter, the road was super narrow and some areas were not yet cemented.. get ready to be stuck if there is rain.. but we noticed some road widening on the works so maybe in the futere this way would be much improved..

We arrived home safely and we were all awaiting pictures to be uploaded.. enjoy‬
