Been a member of Virgin for many many years and I still have to tippy toe around staff not knowing which staff is going to start feeling I’m too brown or too young to be entitled to the benefits that I worked my Axxx off to get to… look young but am in my 50s!!
I scanned my entry and started walking in. White people around me walkedin without question but I got a loud “Hey did you scan your entry??!” Being stopped to show my ticket (which was Business class travel ticket)
This was from rude staff who it seems was the rostered manager (X) who appeared to be from Phillipines on 14/12/2024 at the Melbourne airport at 6.30pm!
I let that pass and went in to find a seat with my husband! I hated the food on offer there so just sat for 10 minutes! Than I had my son and his partner come to the airport to say bye and in the past I paid a per head cost for each extra person (up to 6 family I had come to the airport to say bye the last time) from memory $60 to $70 per head was charged and I did not mind paying because I was pleased with their sensitivity and respect with regards to family.
But this Philippino presumptuous staff took on a loud bouncer tone and started abusing my 22 year old Son for stepping towards the lounge! I was standing at the counter waiting to be attended to and told her that I was standing there to sort out entry. While she was still serving another client, she started arguing with me. I told her to finish serving the person ahead of me and we could talk later but she continued to be rude. I preferred to speak to the older staff there who was polite but than realised that she wanted the rude staff to say yes before applying discretion to charge the two extra people ( my son and his partner)
This sort of smugness would make sense if that lounge was special! It’s pretty much a daggy canteen now!
The food variety is crap, Before I stopped at Melbourne, I was at the sydney lounge!
My experience of food over the last few times - gluggy pasta, soggy salads, fruit flies everywhere and staff dragging their feet to clean tables looking very over worked!
Virgins flight services for Business class travel has also been disgustingly inferior towards me over the years and I have emailed the organisation several time to give them feed back to improve but they don’t care because people continue to give them business.
I noticed that they have, very conveniently not allowed features for Google reviews, Facebook reviews etc so don’t really want feedback!
I made a conscious decision this year after giving them a lot of chance to improve, to not fly with Virgin where I can. There have been times (like this time) where the choices of other flights are not there.
I know a lot of people in Tassie from my community who now travel the other airline because they also experienced the same negative attitude from the staff at the virgin lounge and flights!
Virgin was great many years ago! Very disappointed the last five years or so!!
I do hope Tripadvisor doesn’t get political about posting my review. And would really like to see more people choosing to not fly with virgin so that they know to up their game!
I tried to take a picture of the staff who was rude!
After a minute chat with the staff to see if they would be professional and just charge me like they have before, my son said he would rather not give them business nor waste time there. So I also left the lounge and we sat at a cafe to spend that 30 mins with my son before I flew off! The X staff continued to say things loudly so at the exit of the lounge, I turned to take a video of her rudeness.
She decided to hide behind a post and yelled she will complain about me!

We were due to fly to Newcastle after lunchtime, so we went to the Virgin Australia Lounge in Tullamarine Airport. The Lounge was nicely set up, with a variety of dishes to eat. We had chicken macaroni, which was tasty. We also had BBQ chicken, which was Middle Eastern kebab with rice. We had seasonal juice, orange and apple, which went well with our meal. The non-alcoholic beer was good to drink, and free. In all, we had a good meal in the Virgin Australia Lounge in Melbourne before we boarded our flight.

Very poor food selection, mainly a salad bar, soup and roll, no meat except in the soup.
Sadly you are better off eating in the food court area where you get a good variety 😒

Well laid out lounge with plenty of room to find a comfortable seat. The Barista made coffee was excellent coupled with the Apple Slice from the servery.

Ok tonight’s dinner menu we had a chickpea curry, a salad bar, pumpkin soup and vegan bread rolls. I’m sorry but if we’re being inclusive what about the carnivore lovers. Secondly mini cookies from the coffee station don’t constitute as dessert. Being a regular business class flyer I’d like a nice meat dish topped off with a slab of mudcake

It was our fault really getting an early morning flight out to Cairns on a Friday but as usual the Virgin lounge was overcrowded and noisy with a mile long wait for coffees. Couldn't even get to the water let alone the food. Self absorbed cranky people just out for themselves and staff very slow to clear tables. What used to be a nice experience before flying now seems just as uncomfortable as the food court downstairs. I know Delta lounges in the US are limiting numbers. Would be nice if Virgin did the same.

Poor lounge, crowded, dirty, poor food, very little choice, couldn't find fruit juice, only sugary sodas.
Not what we expect from a full service airline.
Lounge done on the cheap. worst we have experienced in 20 years of business travelling.
Wider and better range food and experience in the main concourse.
Don't bother coming in. Not a Lounge, it is more like a trough.

The food choices are low budget and unsatisfying. One soggy flavourless pasta, pumpkin soup and one type of sandwich available with a Pizza Hut style salad bar. I DON’T RECOMMEND AT ALL. You’d be better off going to the food court and paying for quality. The Lounge is quiet though with comfortable enough chairs and tables. We used our free passes to come in but we definitely would not pay $65 to come in here!!

I find the food selection below average. The lounge itself is a good size and staff are friendly. The menu really needs a review. Dry bland sandwiches, gluggy pasta, weird salad bar that doesn’t accompany anything. Or soup

Visited on Saturday 21st January prior to my flight departing at 11.55am. On this visit I found it less than welcoming, there was a lack of choice for snacks at that time of the day, really disappointing.
