So we didn't stay, but drove around and explored to see if this was a place we would like to stay in the future. We decided it definitely is!!! So well kept up...the cabins are small but oh so quaint....right on the water...with shared bathroom facilities. The views are remarkable. If you don't want to cook, there is a lovely cafe on the property. There is a lot of history here at Cama Beach....it once was a hugely popular family resort back in the 30's and 40's and 50's, and it still has that feel....reminiscent of the resort on the movie Dirty Dancing.
Great spot right on the water.

We had a great time, the water was cold but apart from that we had a lot of fun. No too many people and everyone was following social distance. The store and the gift shop was close (covid-19), the cafe is open until 2pm. Not sure if the boat rental is open.

It was beautiful, calming, and comfortable place. The cabins were cozy, shared bathrooms were clean. There were a few activities to keep children occupied.

Very nice for family camping. Beautiful park, well maintained facility, good size camp sites with nice view and privacy. We had a great time staying there for 2 nights.

The restaurant was understaffed because of an last minute absent employee. The people were so friendly and fairly quick considering the number of people there and the number of employees. The restaurant is rustic and looks out over the Salish Sea. The food is excellent and interesting. We had toasted cheese sandwiches which wer far from boring, great texture, bread and cheese, along with a fruit plate for the table. We were told their brownie is to die for - but alas had no more room to eat one. Wonderful afternoon to sit on the deck, watch the water and catch up. My 92 year old mother had no trouble navigating the walks and driveways. If you do not have a state parks pass, it costs $10 to be in the park, which houses the restaurant. No reservations except for large groups.

Bring the kids on Saturday and build some boats. Learn about the history of the area and the wildlife from wonderful docents. And the scenery is great two.

March 29 to March 31, 2019 was our second stay at the cabin rentals at Cama Beach State Park. The state park is near Stanwood Washington on Camano Island, easily reached from I-5 north of Seattle. The State Park fronts on Saratoga Passage, a scenic body of water between Camano Island and Whidbey Island. Great sunset viewing. From the park beach are also views of the Olympic Mountains (weather permitting) and the beautiful Saratoga Passage. Cabin rentals are easily reserved on the on-line service for Washington State Parks. Make sure to have reservations before going if you are renting a cabin. Cabins are rustic but comfy. We had three adults in our cabin for two nights. The cabins have electric heat, microwave oven, refrigerator and sink. We have stayed weekends here in previous years during raging winter rain storms. This stay was during very cool clear early spring weather. Both times the cabin we rented was snug and cozy.
We bring camping table gear and easy to prepare food and use the cabin refrigerator and microwave (also our own portable induction one-pan stove top and an electric hot water kettle) for meals. The cabins have inside tables and chairs and outside picnic tables for gathering for games or meals. There are designated fire pits to use for evening campfires. The state park has a public cafe, and a variety of restaurants are within easy driving distance.
Among many nice features at this park is a shuttle service that transports you and your gear from your car in the "upper" parking lots to the beachfront cabins. The shuttles are staffed by friendly volunteers and it is convenient to get from your car to your rental cabin and back. This keeps traffic away from the beach front. The beach front has the rental cabins and a store where you can buy food items and other stuff. The Wooden Boat Center is open during the day to see how wooden boats are made and maintained and for family time model boat building (also to rent boats if you are so inclined). There are horseshoe pits, volleyball nets, basketball hoops, frisbees and sports gear to use. The restrooms are very clean and have coin operated showers (bring quarters for the showers).
The cabin area is peaceful and very walkable with access to a stony beach. There are hiking trails throughout the park. The setup creates a very relaxed atmosphere with the beautiful waterside sitting areas and walking areas. Highly recommended for family gatherings and weekend getaways. The park is about an hour's drive north of Seattle. We live in Vancouver, WA and the 3 hour drive to get to the park has been worth it both times we visited.
Be sure to make reservations no matter what month you are visiting because the cabin rentals are full most weekends.

Moves here from Montana and wanted to take my son to the beach since he has never been to one. Loved it. This is now his favorite place to go. He loves being able to collect shells and play in the water.

We spent a few hours here on two separate days. We really enjoyed skipping rocks on the beach and exploring the old boathouse. It's a beautiful area. Don't miss the cafe. It was some of the best food we had on the island!

I love this park, a great place to picnic or take a nice hike. The cafe is great and the cabins look fun. I'll have to reserve a cabin here soon.

does anyone know if deluxe cabins have hairdryers?????

I would think not: these cabins are built in the old tradition of the summer community camps where families and friends stayed very close to one another: insides are rustic but beautiful in their uniqueness

Has anyone tried digging clams or finding mussels anywhere on Camano Island? Year round? What area or beach were you successful at finding your bounty?

I didn't go clamming myself because the locals don't look too kindly on visitors who grab and go. So, if you do plan on clamming please speak to a park ranger and understand what your limit should be and respect the limits so other people can enjoy the bounty as well.

I think I read that the waterfront cabins do have have bathrooms; is that true? If so, what are the alternatives?
Some of the bigger cabins have bathrooms, but most of the cabins do not have bathrooms. There is a clean and bright bathhouse right behind the cabins near the Center for Wooden Boats
