‪Nice Suspension Bridge - Make Sure you have the right DIRECTIONS‬
أغسطس 2021
‪A blogger that we follow recommended this trail because when they visited, there was no one here. Well, when we came on Sunday 8/1, it was PACKED and we had a tough time finding a parking spot and had to park in the overflow parking lot.

To add insult to injury, we took the wrong road to get here. We were driving from Port Angeles. Google maps had us driving 15 miles EXTRA on a gravel road. You SHOULD drive 101 to Hoodsport and then TURN TO 119. This is THE CORRECT way to get here which is ONLY 5 miles of GRAVEL road. The way we went was ENTIRELY WRONG which added stress and unnecessary time.

This trail is an easy 2 mile loop with only 213 feet elevation gain and there is a suspension bridge (sometimes a wait). Most of this trail is through the forest. It is worth doing if you drive on the correct road.‬

‪Staircase Rapids Loop trail worth a visit‬
أغسطس 2021
‪The trail passes through magnificent stands of huge Douglas fir trees and big leaf maples, with views of the river along much of the way. It's a fine example of lowland forest, similar to the rainforests on the western side of the Olympic Peninsula. The walking is fairly easy, and we saw lots of families. Doing the loop in a counter-clockwise direction (starting from the upper parking lot) puts the longer, bit steeper uphill sections in the first half of the walk with more views of the rapids and pools in the river along the second half.
Picnicking is not allowed in the Staircase Campground, and the designated picnic area along the river, near the bridge at the end of the loop trail, had only one picnic table but for some reason has multiple charcoal grills which cannot be used when fire danger is high, e.g., much of the summer season. Plan on finding a shady log or rocks, of which there are plenty.‬

‪Serene old-growth forest‬
يوليو 2021
‪This is an easy 2 mile, family friendly shaded trail that winds through an old-growth forest of huge Douglas firs. The Staircase area entrance is in an out of the way location, at the end of a long, gravel road just past Lake Cushman, so it appears to be less congested than other areas of the park. This just adds to its beauty.‬

‪Super beautiful hike - and fairly easy‬
مايو 2021
‪Wonderful hike along the rapids and fairly easy. The trail appears to be very popular and there were lots of cars in the parking lot but the trail did not feel crowded at all! We went on a cloudy day and it was a bit chilly in town, but the forest protected us from the wind and the hike was beautiful. My scaredy cat wife even handled the river crossings over a wood beam bridge bravely! One thing we didn't expect was the five or so miles of "washboard" dirt road to get there. Still worth it! The trails showed our route to be just 2 miles, but my GPS showed we walked 3 miles so plan on that much walking. It is in the Olympic National Park, so if you have a national park pass be sure to bring it - we did.‬

‪Weekend stroll in Staircase‬
العائلة • أكتوبر 2020
‪Staircase, located at the southeastern corner of the Olympic National Park, does not attract the same crowds as Hurricane Ridge and Hoh Rainforest, and that is a good thing for us. It’s only a bit over an hour from Olympia, the Capitol of Washington. The drive to get there is scenic, particularly around Lake Cushman. Staircase rapids has this deep green color that seems surreal. On an early Fall afternoon, there are so few people it feels like you have the place all to yourself. ‬

‪Went with my 4 year old son and he had no issues on this trail. Beautiful scenery along the way. Lots of people out on the beautiful days but still a fun hike!‬

‪A pure wildernis sanctuary‬
سبتمبر 2019
‪From the Scenic Hood Canal Loop we took Hwy 119. The start was at the Ranger Station and across the bridge.
We did a fairy-like hike through unspoiled nature and wished we could stay there for ever and ever.
We also stopped at Lake Cushman, dotted with a whole bunch of black tree-stumps. Odd sight!

‪What a beautiful hike to experience, it’s great for just you or the whole family. We probably only hiked a tiny percentage of the trails. Can’t wait to go again.‬

‪Rapids Staircase trail‬
أغسطس 2019
‪Very pretty hike through Olympic National Park. We went as a mixed group of young adults and adults with experience. 2.5 mile hike that has a few spots that are a little more than easy but overall the trail is pretty easy. We took out time and from start to finish it took about an hr.‬
