If you're considering a horse ride with this company, proceed at your own risk—they do not care about you or the animals they use. Furthermore, they leave the beach in an unacceptable state of cleanliness. Here's a simple but telling incident: around 7:20 PM, three teenage girls, aged 16-18, were stranded in the parking area after their horse ride. There were 7-8 men working for the company who could have easily helped the girls with a simple push. My wife and I noticed the situation and decided to stop and assist because it was getting dark. When I asked the men for help, they ignored the request and followed orders from a female supervisor who said, "If you're one of my drivers, get in the truck, let's go."
And they left the kids stuff, after taking their $120 for the horse ride.
It's shocking that they would leave their customers stranded on the beach at dusk when a small act of kindness could have made all the difference. After the company left, we managed to help the girls ourselves. This experience revealed the company’s true nature: rude, inconsiderate, and completely unkind. If a company can treat kids that way, there likely more. If you do not believe me…read the other reviews.

I was horrified by the condition of these horses and the way they were being treated today. These horses are being forced to work carrying people up and down the beach all day long day after day wothout being given adequate water or food. Some of these horses are heavily sedated and when they laid down on the ground they were kicked by staff and forced to get back up. One horses mouth was full of sand and was unresponsive to touch or sound and his eyes were distant and unenegaing...he appeared to be barely breathing.. I honestly thought he might be dying until one of the staff came and kicked him and forced him to his feet, explaining to the crowd of people that watched in horror that "he was new" It was horrific. These horses need to be rescued and removed to caring, loving homes where they are allowed to eat, drink, rest, and be loved.
Additionally, I would like to add that not only were the staff cruel to the horses, they were also very rude to customers, including all the children who came to ride their horses. I am absolutely speechless and heartbroken for these horses.

I don’t know how this business meets animal welfare standards! 25-30 horses tied up on the sand with no sign of food/hay bags for these grazing animals, and one small bucket of water between all of them, the majority were led straight past without being given the chance to drink after each hack. Many of the horses were very thin with patchy molting fur and matted manes. We were told they were all very friendly and we could pet them before riding, but they just seemed exhausted and broken, possibly even sedated. At least three were slightly lame but were ridden anyway. Their droppings were tidied away, but where these horses stand on the same patch of sand day after day, the ammonia from their urine was eye-watering!
The cash-only nature of this business suggests tax avoidance and at $40 a ride with 15+ riders each time, they clearly have a lucrative income. The heavy requests for tips was laughable considering the quality of the experience, certainly no ‘service with a smile.’ The website states an hour long ride with experienced guides pointing out wildlife etc along the way. In reality it was 40 minutes rushing along the beach as the herd tried to keep up with the front riders, occasional horses breaking into canter while inexperienced riders held on for dear life and the ‘guides’ ambling along behind looking at their phones and vaping. Also, while this was Western style riding which often doesn’t require a helmet for experienced riders, the head protection on offer for my children was literally a cracked bike helmet with a broken buckle, I dread to think what would happen if they came off at speed! (But it’s ok, you sign a disclaimer…)

Myself and my two grandchildren rode on Saturday, July 20, 2022, and we had a great experience.
It felt t to me that they matched the horses perfectly with my 9-year-old grandchildren.
We found the staff very helpful and complementary on how the kids did throughout the ride.
They can hardly wait to go again next year.

Stay away from this place! Horses are agitated and unkept. Saddles are not tightened between rides. I was slammed to the ground after my horse bucked and my saddle went sideways. The staff's response? 'You got too close to a horse he (my horse) didn't like. It took the staff 10 minutes to get my horse calm down. I had to walk back!! No one helps you! I have a concussion and can barely walk. I must say the lady who checked me in was very nice, but the young guides are rude, uneducated and frankly, dangerous. Spend the extra $10 and to to Honey Pearl Ranch!

The horses looked to be in good health. Time could be spent grooming the horses prior to putting the tack on. One horse came back lame from a ride and frankly the person riding it should have been asked to dismount as soon as the horse was injured. The staff acknowledged it was hurt and said it would be going out but did nothing to help it. They didn't unsaddle it or have someone take it back to the stable. The horse was tied up and had it's leg lifted in the air. It was just sad. One of the riders in our group was kicked by one of the horses while on her horse. She was kicked in the foot and was injured. The staff should put red ribbons on known kickers so people can have a visual.

The horses were gentle and well behaved and the staff were very helpful. One girl in particular took extra time helping our very nervous 6 year old granddaughter which saved the day for all. The experience was well worth the money.

The horses were beautiful and the lady who checked us in was very helpful and nice, however, the three teenage girls they have as 'guides' were horrible. I would gladly have paid the extra $5 at Honey Pearl Ranch had I known three teenage girls who acted like they were forced to be there were going to be our guides (and this was the first horse company we came to on the beach). My 8 year old and my cousin's 14 year old (never been on a horse before) were the first on their horses and the horses had walked forward about 5 steps, one of the girls started yelling at them that if they couldn't control their horses they would be taken off and wouldn't be allowed to go on the tour. While on the tour they constantly yelled to stop the horses from trotting even though they trotted every time you let up on the reigns. The smart thing would be for them to be up front and control the speed of the pack but instead they stayed to the side and just yelled at people. At the end they yelled at us to keep the horses before the rope and 'I hope you enjoyed your tour' in the most bored voice I have ever heard on a tour. These girls are the reason there are jokes about how bad millenials are at working and dealing with people.

We chose to go on a ride with some friends while visiting from out of state. It was my eight year old’s first time on a horse and she was really nervous. I hadn’t ridden a horse for over ten years, so I wouldn’t consider myself anywhere near expert, but I felt the need to continuously guide my daughter as her horse would start running and she struggled to slow it down., Meanwhile, for a large portion of the ride three guides (teens) were texting or hanging back and racing each other. Overall the ride was fun because of the gorgeous views and the mostly well behaved horses. For the amount of money they are taking in each hour (around $2000), you’d think the workers could pretend like they are happy to be there and make new riders feel comfortable.

My six year old daughter was excited to have her first "real" horse ride. But, they gave her a horse that didn't want to go and he kept turning around and hightailing it for their camp and the guides would go on their horses and try to turn him back. He didn't like that, so he'd pin his ears back and, dance around, whip his head up and down, then take off at a quick trot up to the group and turn and hightail it again.
They hollered at my daughter to pull back on the reins, which she did, with all her strength, but it wasn't enough to deter the horse. She's 6 and this was her first horseback riding experience, so her strength was limited and she didn't have the skills to handle a headstrong horse. She held on great but her feet kept slipping out of the stirrups and and after about the fourth repeat of the horse taking off back for camp, having aggressive interactions with the guides' horses, and suddenly increasing speed on her she eventually got scared and said she wanted off.
At which point, they told us to get off because "if she wants off she has to get off." I get that, you shouldn't force a kid, or anyone, to ride. But it was really poorly handled. There were four guides and none of them could get her horse under control. None took him by the reins, or even spoke a kind or encouraging word to my daughter. No offer to lead the horse or any solution other than to get off mid ride.
The young women guides were quite standoffish and snippy with everyone from the start, I should have known then.
So anyway, we got off and they left us, and we had to walk a couple miles back. Great. That was fun.
Really poor choice of a horse for a kid, poor management of it, and they didn't care about her experience or us being left behind one bit. We told the man at the camp and he shrugged. No refund.

Hi, I would like to know where your horses are kept during their off hours? Do they work 7 days a week or have an off day? My family wants to ride, but I refuse until I know the horses are taken care of outside of the beach. I would imagine due to the constant moisture on their hoofs, thrush would be an issue, how do you prevent moisture damage to their hooves. Also, do they ever get bathed? They look quite dirty, especially the white horses. Yes, I'm one of those people, that care how animals are treated. I grew up on a horse ranch and have owned many horses. I know when they thrive and when their conditions prevent them from thriving. I hope to hear back on their location outside of standing on the beach all day long. Thank you - Donna

How does your horseback riding differ from honey pearl ranch? What time of year can you ride and is just a slow moving walk on the beach or can you Gallup and get some fun going?
كُتب بتاريخ 10 مارس 2016
They will bring the horses out for a large enough group any time of the year. Give them a call.
If you are a good enough rider and can control the horse they might allow you to gallop. If it's busy they don't let you ware out the horses that have to work all day.
