It was early in the season, and we had the park almost to ourselves.
We had our plein air go-bag with us, so we set up and we both painted and sketched.
Considering the river, the park with its flora and fauna, and not to mention the buildings, we had lots of subjects

The park is lovely with a view of the river. The Interpretive center formerly, called the museum, is well done and organized. Bring the kids and they can explore the interactive displays. We found the staff were able to answer all our questions.

This park is a hidden gem. It truly goes to the saying of “don’t judge a book by its cover”. The approach to the park might make you want to turn around but continue to the park. You will find spacious grass areas to relax and play in. There are horseshoe pits, volleyball court and plenty of shoreline to fish from. There is a boat ramp with dock for access to the river. Unlike many public facilities the restrooms here are very clean and sanitized. The museum was closed during* our visit but appears interesting and worth coming back to see.

Sacajawea State Park in Kennewick, WA is one of the most important historical locations in the US. The Snake River joins the Columbia here, which means this was a major meeting place for Native Americans and, in 1805, a camping place for the Lewis and Clark expedition (the Corps of Discovery).
There are a number of interpretive signs and structures. Unfortunately, on the day we visited the Sacajawea Interpretative Center was closed, but I have been advised by local relatives that it is quite interesting. There is also a small beach, a pair of dugout canoes of the type used "back in the day", and boat docking. The views of the river are worth a visit by themselves.
Plenty of picnic tables are are scattered around the 267 acres.
We visited on a rather blustery day toward the end of September. Still, it was great fun walking around and seeing what there was to see. I can't say if this is fairly typical for this park, but it did need a bit of TLC on the grounds. A bit of cleanup, mowing, and such, would have made this a "5 out of 5". My local informants tell me that there are often special activities and events at the park, and I am hoping that on my next visit I will check some of them out.
There is a small fee that is comparable to other fees in state parks I have encountered, but is actually less than some of the charges at East Coast parks.

We have been traveling in Lewis And Clarks footsteps most of this trip. This park is where they stopped when the Snake river met the Collumbia. Nice park and good little museum.

The museum was interesting and staff were well informed to provide clarity on any questions or concerns. Level ground throughout the grounds. Great place to take pictures!

Grass is very spars, full of weeds and insects. Additionally there are a lot of bees and wasps. It doesn’t appear that the grounds are taken care of at all. A lot of just dirt areas. The people working at the park were very rude! The location to the two rivers is really nice - it’s very sad that it is not taken care of. Again, the photos on this site are deceiving.

Not a lot to do except sit and watch the river and just relax. This is a place where lots of photographers go for photos.
