I took my 5 year old daughter and we had so much fun sitting through the dirt finding our treasures. We found about 7 gem stones. My daughter loved the experience. We had a great time spending quality time together. The owner was very informative and a pleasure talking with.

All had fun sifting through the paydirt to find gems. We all found a little something to bring home and polish up. The owner was great to talk to and had a lot of background information and history of the area. He also let the kids metal detect the area. Would highly recommend making your way there if able. However, the owner was talking retirement shortly so would need to make it a destination sooner than later.

Drove up a long driveway hearing the theme from Deliverance. It was a pretty place and the kids got to see different animals including turkey, deer, and cows but... the first cattle gate you get out to open is an adventure as you dodge cow dung and then drive up a steeper dirtish one lane PATH to find the second gate locked. What a disappointment!! My girls were so sad! The site said it opened at 10am and it was noon. Just wished there had been a closed sign on the first gate.

Went to the mine and had a great time! Farmer Joe and Jake are great. Go slow on the road into the mine- and be sure to follow the website directions. We found it with no problem and had a wonderful time!

My sisters and I visited this gem mine today as part of our sisters’ getaway. We had a fabulous time. Farmer Joe is one of the nicest people I have ever met. The road back to the mine is a bit rough, but stick it out - you’ll be glad you did. We found quite and few gems and especially enjoyed meeting Farmer Joe and his dog Jake. It was a great adventure and Farmer Joe is very knowledgeable!

We just took my son for a 3 day visit, we all loved it! We found so many gems, when we took a scoop out of the bucket, it wasn't are we going to find gems, it was what kind of gems will we find this time.
My 10 year old son has always wanted to be a Geologist, so this was a trip of a lifetime. And Farmer Joe (The Owner) found this out, he spent a lot of time with my son over the 3 days, showing him different gems, how to polish, etc.
This place is really amazing! If your looking for a fun time for the family, this is it. And the best thing, it's not expensive!
Thanks for 3 great days Farmer Joe, my son is already planning our next trip!

It's really hard to argue with this place. A lot of fun, family friendly, for a very reasonable price.
Getting there might put some people off, especially city people. Luckily, my wife and I both grew up on farms, so the long, bumpy driveway was not a problem for us, nor was the idea that we had to open a gate and then close it behind us to keep the horses from wandering.
The owner kept up a running reparte with his clients which was very amusing. Finding gemstones in piles of dirt was a little bit of magic that we'll bring our grandchildren back for.
Wear old clothes. You'll be sitting on benches which have had dirt spilled on them by "miners". I had jeans and I was fine.

Me my have had fun time looking for gems found a nice amethyst got it shaped polished made into necklace $20 plus $15 chain so not bad prices had great time will be going back before yr up.

We had a great time sifting through the dirt in search of gems! The kids loved it so much! There was a little shop that was able to place your finds in products, but they were closed when we went, I totally would have brought product!
