Excellent summertime activity. Blocks from Lake Michigan. Interesting architecture and history of the company. Tour guides very knowledgeable

Very disappointing experience on several levels. First of all, I must admit that, while I appreciate the beauty of FLW work, I am repulsed by the cult. At SC Johnson I saw two buildings, beautiful as they are, which are unusable for the purposes of which they were designed. The research towers was not built to code and was abandoned decades ago. And now the offices are also vacant, so I am at a loss to understand how these are great buildings. And the tour itself has issues. The tour guide was reasonable knowledgeable and very enthusiastic, but we were not allowed to take pictures inside the buildings and were give 15 minutes to view a museum exhibit which was clearly worth 1 or 2 hours. I gave the tour 2 stars for the tour guide and to acknowledge that the tour is free, but frankly I would have gladly paid a fee if I could take pictures and was given the time to enjoy the exhibit.

Very well maintained Frank Lloyd Wright designed buildings at the heart of the SC Johnson Headquarters campus. Very striking and what you would expect of FLW. The guides and staff polite and knowledgeable and they and even the security guard have interesting facts and stories about the buildings and company. Very happy to have visited!

SC Johnson offers free tours on Saturday and Sundays. We live in a neighboring city and this was someplace I have wanted to visit for many years so I was happy that there was an opening this February to take the 2 hour tour. My husband and I are neither architecture fans nor did we know much about SC Johnson, but we found the tour very interesting. Check-in was at the Golden Rondell, a structure created for the world's fair. Once everyone was together, they split us into two groups and our group headed the the Frank Lloyd Wright designed research tower. This was closed down in the 1970s as it didn't comply to OSHA requirements, but it was interesting to check out the 3rd and 4th floors and to see the lab and information about its construction. Next stop was the newly built Wax Bird building, a modern workplace built using recycled and historical materials. Next was the famous FLW administrating building and finally the building which housed the reconstructed plane that flew to Brazil and housed SC Johnson and a small FLW information wing. Both my husband and I were happy with our visit.

A friend and I took the 2-hour tour in late October. We especially enjoyed seeing the SC Johnson headquarters building interior. The research tower is also interesting for its exhibits. The final stop has many well-curated exhibits - we could have spent an hour alone just viewing them. 4 stars instead of 5 because no opportunity to come back and just view these exhibits. Overall, very interesting, especially to Frank Lloyd Wright fans. Be aware, photos outside are allowed but not indoors.

Hubs and I are big architecture nerds and LOVED the opportunity to tour this magnificent campus dubbed one of the 20 most important buildings of the 20th century by the AIA. Anna was our knowledgeable guide on a Saturday afternoon. She brought to life the vision of the Johnson family and skillfully described the work of Frank Lloyd Wright. HIGHLY recommend.

Haley, our tour guide, was extremely professional and knowledgeable. The grounds, facilities were immaculate. Great Frank Lloyd Wright structures.

It was somewhat frustrating to get a reservation to this site because of limited tours but it was so worth the effort. The Administration Building was unbelievable; pictures don't do it justice. You have to experience it in person. The tour guide was very knowledgeable and organized. If you enjoy architecture of any type, this is a must! o

We went there this past Friday for a tour and it turned out to be much better than we thought it would be. The tour guide did a great job of explaining everything in detail. We especially enjoyed the building with their antique airplane, map of their travels to find the carnauba wax and their journey with all of the stops. Interesting to read about how many firsts they had in relation to taking care of their employees, from vacations to pensions. Walking through their Frank Lloyd Wright designed buildings was a real experience and worth spending the time. Our Sincere Thanks for SC Johnson offering the tour at no charge.

Very unique buildings, interesting history. But: don't even think of taking a picture in the admin building. You will be given 1 warning, so make it count. Next time, security will escort you out

Not in walking distance but if you drive toward the lake (east) then go north, you’ll be in the downtown area. A few places I like are: Butcher & Barrel, Old Madrid, Vero, Dewey’s, Kewpies, Salute, to name a few.

I am so sorry I was t able to respond sooner. You could call or email the place and tell them your situation and availability. We were a group of 6 with two senior citizens who were never going to be back in Mikwaukee so even without a scheduled tour, the wonderful people at SCJ gave us a tour of the place (on a day when there were no tours).

Hello, how is it possible to book a tour only for SC Johnson in Racine?
Through the web site it seems possible booking only WINGSPREAD TOUR.

You need to book a date and time in advance for either tour, but yes, you can take a tour of the SC Johnson Complex without the Wingspread tour. Wingspread is about 5 miles away from downtown, and each site schedule their own tour times.

I recall it was ~1.5-2 hours. Photos are not allowed in the research tower nor the corporate offices. I went on a tour that was part of the Architectural Biennial in Chicago. On the way on the bus, we saw a movie about the family and the business. We had lunch at a very good Danish bakery (O&H) on the way into town.
