First time at Holkham Beach area. The reviews state it’s 10 minutes from the car park. We did not know which route to take to the beach. I suggested the walkway but my husband (75) suggested the middle route across sand which was hard work. We walked for an hour looking for this beach!! We finally realised we had taken the path around the edge of the beach but couldn’t tell because no beach was in our view. When we finally saw our mistake we could not get across because of the mud flats. Finally we got to the beach only to turn and find our way back to the car park as we had payed for two hours. We were exhausted and the dog!

Thank you for your review. There are footpath signs and staff at the car park and The Lookout are happy to advise, but I will pass this onto the team to consider.

Visited on a dull, windy day but still beautiful views. It would be even better on a sunny day.

£13.50 to park in a rough field full of cow crap is THEFT. Overpriced We will not visit again ever. Vote with your feet. Just not worth it.

Thank you for your comment. It sounds like you came on a busy day during peak season, so used the overflow car park as the main car park was full. The £13.50 parking charge is for all day parking, which can also be used within Holkham Park. There are cheaper parking options for two or four hours. The charge allows you to explore the expansive nature reserve and beach - both of which are known as one of the best in the country. The income helps us to maintain these landscapes and aid conservation.

A bit of a long trek to the beach especially if you have young children , pay and display car park only accepted cash not cards, however the scenery was lovely, walking through the woods to the beach was great. The kids enjoyed the sand dunes and rock pools.

We visited for an afternoon walk , you can either park for 2 hours, 4 hours or for a day , all are ridiculously expensive. Ice cream van on site charging a minimum of £5 for an ice cream , no wonder nobody was buying anything. The area is beautiful and the walk to wells is lovely but once again the Holkham owned cafe is too expensive,, as is the bus into Wells centre. Are the Holkham estate trying to drive families away ! Also why do the toilets at Holkham shut at 5 , when the car parks open until 9 ?

Thank you for your review. We feel our parking prices are competitive for the area and the income helps us to maintain all accessible areas of Holkham Estate including the nature reserve you visited. Please note that the ice cream van is not run by Holkham. If your comment about the toilets refers to the toilets on Lady Anne's Drive - these are toilets at The Lookout café and visitor centre rather than being public toilets. They therefore close when The Lookout closes.

Saw all day parking had gone up to £13.50, gone up as inly came about a month ago and wasnt that much, its now ridiculously expensive and won't be returning. You can park in the hall for half the price and walk down. Unfortunately the hall parking was closed so ended up parking in Wells Town centre for over half they were charging with the same walking distance to get to the sea. They are just getting greedy now

Thank you for your constructive feedback. The revenue from car parking helps to maintain areas of the estate that are open to the public. As you have mentioned, if your are looking for somewhere a little cheaper both Wells town car park and Holkham Park is £7 for the day.

Amazing place, absolutely beautiful.
Parking was well maintained, prices were reasonable and in keeping with everywhere so far in North Norfolk. dog must be kept on a lead from carpark to a section of the beach area due to nesting birds ((saw a oyster catcher which was a bonus)) walk from carpark, thru pines to the main entrance and then walk towards the beach and coastline. We kept our dog on his lead until the sea front, only problem was we forgot his ball so our poor dog probably didn't have his best day, but the walk and views were amazing.
Great value if you have a family or are with a group of mates for a full day at the beach, we stayed three hours and that was plenty for us. Would of loved to of visited the nearby Victoria pub which is just next to the entrance of the car parking.

The reason for only 3 in the rating is solely down to one reason. We are birders and went to Holkham to walk along the path where the hides are. This takes some time so we purchased the 4 hour ticket at £6.50. Once we had purchased the ticket we walked into the reserve only to find a board stating the Joe Jordan hide was closed. This is the farthest hide away and the reason we needed the 4 hours. We spoke to a warden about it and he said it was on the web site that it was closed, it is not on the web site. We suggested the sign be at the top of Lady Anne drive and on the pay machines. We also spoke to the carpark attendant and he said lots of people had complained. We don't like to use the word conned, but we feel we were. We hope something will be done before our return in February.

Amazing views and walks. Parking all day £10 is expensive but plenty of spaces. Long walk to the see so good walking shoes are a must.

There is a small section of the beach where nudism is allowed (this is to the left, direction Brancaster). The rest of the beach is not a nudist beach. Hope that answers your question.

Hi Neil,
We apologise for any inconvenience caused by the unforeseen disruption to our Lady Anne’s Drive, Freeman Street and Wells Beach Road car parks. To prevent unauthorised encampment, we are sorry no campervans, no caravans and no mobile homes are permitted at present. Please check Holkham website and social media for updates on when the ban will be lifted.

Hi Carol, you'll be pleased to hear, there are facilities currently being built on Lady Anne's Drive which are due for completion late this summer. This has been an ongoing issue which we have responded to, it has taken a few years with planning permission on the nature reserve but lavatories and a modest cafe will soon be up and running.

Thanks for your enquiry. Just to let you know that there are toilets in Holkham village opposite Adnams store. Turn left as you exit the beach and then first right.

You can park all day, think it is around £7 for the day but it is a good trek from the actual beach but worth it as it is beautiful

I believe the parking is 3 pounds for the day in Holkham Hall venue, including for blue badge holders, just that they can park nearer the building.
