This coast line was pristine. There were flat stones filled with fauna and water for people to admire, climb on, and walk around on. The views of the Pacific were pretty and there were very few people at the point. It was a good place to relax and picnic.

Schoodic Peninsula, especially Raven's Nest, is absolutely gorgeous. I would totally recommend the trip over. It's a hidden gem with very few people taking in the views.

Nice flat walking surfaces. Good for handicapped access. Wear a hat but pin it to your head. Temperature changes rapidly. Dress in layers.

Schoodic peninsula was quite beautiful to drive around. We stopped in a few different places to walk out onto piers or rocky areas. Just beautiful and very quiet. There was even a nice spot where you could have a picnic. All free.

Wonderful. Magical. Not crowded. Jagged maine coast at its best. We even had the opportunity to listen to a lecture on climate change. It is was not political and had excellent subject matter experts that actually made sense. An erudite panel. Totally enjoyed our day!

Eighty to ninety percent of the loop road is one way. There are specific places to either park or pull over that provide families to explore and take in the beauty. It is an excellent loop road for bicyclists.
The Schoodic Head trail and the rest of the other trails are of easy to moderate difficulty. Walking sticks and drinking water are useful. Despite the fact that the temperature was in the 60s, the humidity was 86-100%. Hikers are nice and friendly!

Less famous part of the Acadia National Park. This place was just as amazing and not crowded. Loved the hikes and views.

By far, our best day in Arcadia/Bar Harbor area! Drive the scenic loop road & stop to marvel at the coastline … majestic large waves crashing into rocks. I was surprised at how much it reminded me of Scotland’s shoreline. Stop & sit on a Boulder & just enjoy Gods creation… you won’t regret it.

The Schoodic Penninsula is a bit of a drive from Bar Harbor and Mt Desert, but well worth it. Climbing on the rocks was a lot of fun.

Definitely a place to visit to watch the sea crash against the rocks, look into the rock pools and view the seaweed being tossed in the sea. Careful on the rocks.

Are the trails ok for someone with mobility issues?
STP
Camden, Maine171 مساهمة
While most are designed for minimal hiking/walking exertion there are very few that I would recommend for people with ambulatory or mobility issues but that is only my opinion. That said you can traverse the entire park in a motor vehicle and there are some parking areas where vantage points are wheelchair accessible. I would suggest checking out the Friends of Acadia website they have all the information you would need on how to access areas of the park for those with mobility issues.

How are the bike trails in the Schoodic Peninsula? I consider myself to be a 'bike rider' as opposed to a serious cyclist. Can handle moderate hills, but prefer flat terrain. My bike tires are not mountain bike tires. Bike has 18 speeds. Wondering if I should bring my bike (?). Will be bringing my kayak - any suggestions for kayaking?

Biking on Schoodic Peninsula
Bike Paths – The bike paths of Schoodic Woods connect to the Park Loop Road of the Schoodic section of Acadia National Park. The 8.3 miles of well-graded gravel bike paths echo the carriage roads on Mount Desert Island, down to the carved wooden signs. In addition to adding to the 6 miles of the one-way Schoodic Park Loop Road that bicyclists have long been able to enjoy, these new paths provide an important connection between the east and west sides of the peninsula. That means bicyclists don’t need to ride on busy ME 186 to circle back to the Schoodic Woods Ranger Station if they decide to bike the Park Loop Road. The bike paths intersect with Buck Cove Mountain and Lower Harbor Trails, so visitors can combine a bike ride with a hike. Be aware that The Buck Cove Mountain path is elevated more than the other bike paths.
Among the destinations you can bike to, as marked by the carved wooden signs:
Winter Harbor
Frazer Point picnic area
Schoodic Point
Bunker’s Harbor
Wonsqueak Harbor.

What are some dog friendly places?
STP
Camden, Maine171 مساهمة
Maine law requires dogs not on your own property to be on a leash at all times. You will find the enforcement varies by community. Maine law: 7 MRS §3911, “it is unlawful for any dog, licensed or unlicensed, to be at large, except when used for hunting.”
I have never been here, but it looks beautiful. Weird question, but does anyone think a quick 10 minute wedding ceremony with 10 people would be possible overlooking the ocean somewhere on Schoodic? No chairs, just everyone standing. thanks!

They are allowed, quick Google search which show pictures of Schoodic Point weddings. I'm not certain if any permission is required but I doubt it. You could always check with the National Park Service.

Schoodic is not operated with personnel from National Parks. It is a section away from the main Park. It is actually a drive thru eye popping mini adventure.

Will be visiting Acadia NP the week of July 23-27 and going over to the Schoodic Peninsula one of the days. Are there any places to rent bikes near the park?

What would be the best place to see the lobster/fishermen & women? Also, is it okay to drive an RV on the Schoodic Peninsula Loop? If not, are there bicycle rentals? Thanks!! We can't wait to visit!!

Birch Harbor (right near the Schoodic entrance) is a wonderful place to see lobster and fishermen and women in a scenic setting with the Prospect Harbor Lighthouse in the backdrop. You can drive RVs through the Schoodic Loop, there is also RV parking at the visitor center. You can rent bicycles at Seascape Kayak & Bike just outside the park entrance at Winter Harbor.

Visit Bar Harbor for good food....I would recommend Stewmans Restaurant which is right on the water.....boat rides, whale watch tours on beautiful boats and lots of stores to visit with great Maine products. Do go to the "quiet" side of the island and visit Northeast Harbor where you can take the mail boat out to the Cranberry Islands. Thuya Gardens is located in Northeast Harbor with beautiful gardens. Ask for directions in NE Harbor. Also, Southwest Harbor offers cute little shops and places to eat. Beyone that is Seawall.....looks out at the ocean, lots of rocks and ocean pools to look for special tidal objects and cool breezes to enjoy. Hike Ships Harbor Nature Trail and Wonderland Trail which are both easy and take you through wooded areas to the ocean. The town of Bernard features Thortons Restaurant which sits on a harbor and has wonderful lobster stew, crab cakes and many other delicious lunch and dinner items. Enjoy the island.....when you first cross the bridge onto the island there is an Information center on the right....stop there for lots of maps and info.
