A day-long trek if you do it all and do it right, and worth every step and every minute. Back to the Future you go. And plenty of eating places along the way. A Must.

Buy a guide book at the tourist shop at the beginning in the Boston Commons to help you navigate. This has all the important Boston Revolutionary War stops. Includes other important history stops as well. The path is fairly easy to follow.

By far the best thing we did in Boston. You can take the tour buses but walking is easy and better. You can see more places walking in historic Boston. There are charges to get into

Suivez les marques au sol. Surs de ne rien rater. Les entités tues, les m’invente, tout y est (ou presque) avec un stop pour manger au quincy market.

It's been quite a few years since I learned about Boston in grade school, so it was such an interesting adventure to re-learn and learn things as an adult. My 10-yr old also enjoyed learning about it and it was fun to follow the trail.

Fabulous guided tour of the freedom trail. Very knowledgeable guide with many details. This would also very acceptable as self guided with a map. Just follow the bricks

Super easy to follow, and free!!! We started at the end, and worked our way back to Boston Common and stopped numerous times along the way-a must do!!

A wonderful way to explore Boston's rich heritage. It literally connects all the dots of the must-see sights in the city. Because it's a long trail that winds around the city, we have explored parts of it each time we have visited. Look it up on line before you go to make sure you see the points of interest you like.- there is no preferred direction to take. Best points of interest: The Boston Common and Gardens, the Granary Burial Grounds, Faneuil Hall/Quincy Market, The North end ( Paul Revere's house and North Church) and it's Italian Restaurants and The USS Constitution/Bunker Hill. Since Boston is the proverbial walking city, walk the trail and skip the trolley!

Very cool trail with incredible history. This is simply a must do when in Boston. You walk across the city and get to visit many sites and get a true feel of the city.

Great to do, advise if in the winter wear artic clothing as standing on street corners with a wind chill is bitter. Had a charming tour guide and well worth the effort, fascinating history

For the Freedom Trail, is there a place to rent a wheelchair or do we need to bring our own?

I didn't see one either.
The Freedom Trail is not really a defined or built route. It's a self guided tour around Boston. The accessibility issue relates to the quality of sidewalks, as the previous answer suggests.
I agree about the charging as well - you could be 2 miles away from your downtown hotel by the time you get to the USS Constitution.
Is this attraction open now if so what the hours

there are no hours as it is a walking tour which you can do on your own

I'm in Boston just now and I'm struggling to fit everything in I want to do, can anyone tell me are there specific times the tours go? Do I need to pre book? And what's the last time of the tour? TIA

You can go on the self guided tour of the freedom trail. There’s an app. Stop at the sites that are most meaningful to you.
What tour company did you use?

We did not use a tour company. Maps are everywhere and it's all just a nice walk. There are a couple of places that charge for admittance but you don't have to go in if you don't want to pay.
I am driving my class to the freedom trail next week in a 12 passenger van. Where should
I park?

I’ll be arriving at my hotel around 3:00. Would it be practical to start to walk the trail that late? In other words, what time do things close? I was thinking about grabbing an early dinner somewhere along the way . Any suggestions for good eats along the way? Nothing fancy. Thanks!

What's nice about the Freedom Trail is-it can be done in sections. You don't have to do the entire walk at one time. My husband and I walked different parts at different times.

Are there restaurants along the trail? And public restrooms?

There are public restrooms at Fanueil Hall (about 1/2 way) and Revere house (if you pay to get in site). Also plenty of coffee shops and chain restaurants available if you don't feel comfortable walking into a bar or sit nicer down restaurant just to use bathroom.

Would this be doable in December?

It really depends on the weather because the entire Freedom Trail is outdoors. There are stops along the Freedom Trail where you can choose to go into a museum or something, but you will literally be walking through downtown Boston. I think the coldest months are January and February, so you might luck out in December!
