The food was horrible. The actual menu was nothing remotely like the menu that the so-called teacher-chef had for the Asian Vegetarian night. There were not that many vegetables. The so-called teacher-chef forgot to put in the dried mushrooms in the very bland vegetarian stock and one of his bosses said that it was okay because many of the participants were eating the soup. At the end, he did say that he had forgotten to put in the dried mushrooms and the one Vietnamese participant (the chef was not Asian) said that the soup need more flavor. There were hardly any vegetables in the stir-fried tempeh. The eggplant dip was had no taste and the mango/rice pudding dessert was not flavorful at all. DO NOT PAY MONEY AND GO TO THIS PLACE.

Enjoyed a wonderful wedding and reception here over the weekend! The staff were helpful and accommodating about people who needed to get changed or store items during the event. The spaces were beautiful and really inviting for people to enjoy one another. They had some nice, personalized decor for the couple. The food was especially excellent! A previous review mentioned a parking issue- there is tons of parking available nearby, including free street parking for some weekend times. Wasn't an issue at all!

I love having a quiet lunch in this little shop. I seriously feel calmer and happier after taking a work break here and enjoying reading their awesome books on everything from super salads to the history of menu design while eating their yummy sandwiches and soups.

Attended a wedding here this week for a family member.Before attending i called two times on the phone and two times by email to find out about parking lots in area .Both times no response.When we arrived at the wedding with my 91 year old mother in law come to find out there was no elevator to the third floor.My mother in law needed almost to be carried up two flights up a very narrow stairway.The room for the wedding did not have enough chairs and tables for the number of guests most the guests were standing the whole time.The food was a buffet the only thing i was able to eat was the hangar steak which was very chewy and hard to eat because there were no knives on the table for almost 30 minutes.I cannot see anyone using this place for any affair who have elderly family members.

We came to NYC to celebrate her birthday, and this was our first night's adventure. It was a blast. The instructors were superb, and kept us busy making various pasta dishes and salad. The other participants were various levels of experience and great fun. The wine was flowing, and we learned a lot. I would highly recommend it.

We went in for a quick snack and a cappucino. The place looks good, the cappucino is very good and the frittata (and other food also) is yummie. Next time we are in NY we will also try one of their cooking classes (as we found them too late).

I came here for a quick breakfast. The staff were very friendly, the coffee was great and they had several non-dairy options. I ended up with the vegan/gluten free coconut cookie, which was amazing! Their bathrooms are clean and very nicely decorated. Will definitely come here again.

Ho scoperto Haven's Kitchen per caso, mi ha ispirato subito dando un'occhiata da fuori per lo stile molto curato e ci sono anche tornata piu' di una volta.
E' una scuola di cucina dove si puo' anche mangiare, ho assaggiato degli ottimi dolci e caffe' tra cui delle ciambelle al caramello salato divine. Oltre ai dolci propone insalate, zuppe, sandwich, e varie portate con l'opzione anche vegana e gluten free. Ottimo segnale free wifi. Un posto molto accogliente con ottima musica di sottofondo, dove fare una sosta rilassante quando si e' in giro per Manhattan. Non vedo l'ora di ritornarci.

This review is on their "Festive Vegan Dinner" cooking class. What went wrong: Chef Ashley didn't think that having non-vegan wine and (almost) adding other non-vegan products to the food was fine, after all, I was the only vegan. Chef Ashley also didn't think there was anything wrong with extolling the virtues of meat and maligning certain vegan ingredients and making the statement that the "...majority of vegans she knows are unhealthy". Lastly, it was OK with having me feel like a 2nd class citizen in her class. I had never been made to feel so bad in a class (well, maybe 7th grade French).

Having read some very good reviews about the cooking classes at Haven's Kitchen, combined with my eating style of very fresh and healthy food, I was really excited to take a class called "California Cooking for New York Seasons".
I really liked the way Chef Sydney Wilcox had the class structured, she gave guidance, but the participants were the ones who really prepared the food. She would stop at various points and give us pointers about different knife skills, why a dish is prepared this way, and that anchovies lose their fishy flavor when cooked (NOT TRUE!).
The food included Bagna Cauda (this is the dish that reeked on anchovies - sorry I detest them), which I found inedible, although it looked great. There was also aroasted vegetable salad with a stinky-feet kind of cheese, which I also found inedible. There were pan roasted starchy vegetables (potatoes, jerusalem artichokes) that were bland, a chicken that was dry-marinated with herbs and rubbed down with duck fat that had absolutely no taste (how on earth was that possible?). Last and least, a lemon pudding cake that was so cloyingly sweet it could have put the most hearty of people into a sugar coma - but not in a good way.
Although I would not recommend this class, especially if you are looking forward to eating the fruits of your labor.
