I have ridden my bike for twenty years on this path and love it, however, it can be dangerous because the parks people DO NOT clean it and dirt builds up creating a dirt layer that is slippery. Also, when it rains, the very large puddles in the low areas are very dangerous because they have slippery mud In them creating another very dangerous surface. Becareful!
*****Right now(Spring 2021) there is construction on the levy and the trucks are constantly knocking dirt onto the path and do not clean it up.

This is a wide, flat, paved trail adjacent to the Rio Grande. There's also a raised dirt path (the berm adjacent to the homes) that a few runners were using. We parked at the Mary Frances Keilsing Park and walked to the end of the paved path on the south end, and to the underpass at Artcraft on the north end, and it took only an hour. I understand you can go quite a bit farther either direction, but that wasn't our plan for this time. Plenty of parking at the park (maybe 8-10 places close to the trail entrance?). A few other walkers and bike riders, but not many on a cool sunny day. This time of year the riverbed is completely dry and sandy. Some nice views of the distant mountains. Frequent benches to sit and relax, but no real shade. Dog friendly.

No idea why this outdoor activity in El Paso is only #64 of 80 things to do and there is only 1 review. ???? Shhhh....don’t say anything so we can continue to have the trail to ourselves! 😉
We were visiting El Paso from Houston to hike the Franklin Mountain State Park. Wanted to give our feet a rest from hiking and the cycling in F Mtns is far beyond our skill level. Found this gem of a trail system.
We parked at the Vinton Ave bridge. Rode the section towards TX. 8 miles one way not including crossing the bridge and accessing the trail on the opposite side of the river and heading towards NM.
Flat, flat and more flat! Beautiful scenery along the way. This time of year the river is dry. Imagine the trail is even more beautiful when the river is flowing!
No restrooms along the way so FYI. We’re older so guess that’s more relevant to us! 😉
Not really anywhere you could stop off and enjoy a meal or snack either. That’s the only thing which might make this even better?
Afterwards we walked our dog in the dried river beds and he got to go for a “splash” which is his favorite!
Soooo glad we found this gem no one talks about!!!

Excellent place to take a walk and explore the El Paso Rio Grande River area. The trail is flat and easy to walk . In the summer when there is water in the river many aquatic birds can be seen.
