Signage indicates it's a bookstore. Assumed that's what it was - not a space divided into a Student Book Store for Moravian students, with school paraphernalia & textbooks, an area for Christmas ornaments, & a "public" bookstore. While there I was totally ignored by the staff, one of whom was singing along with the way too loud music (which was of a current type). For a store that has been around for centuries it leaves much to be desired. Some of the "sale" stickers looked like a big box chain. As someone who has sold books at an "indy" store, I was very depressed. No sense of warmth or welcome. Don't see returning.

The knowledge that you are visiting an establishment that has lasted for decades and centuries is humbling. Being in a bookstore, which has almost vanished thanks to e-commerce, is a treat for those of us who remember them. The staff were all college students who were generally disinterested with being there. The ambiance of customer service is long gone. We enjoyed our visit. Been there. Done that. Over. Lets see if they can last another 100 years.

The tour guide we had on Saturday night.
Walked too fast and spoke too fast.
I noticed we had more seniors and 2 individuals with disables on this tour.
I feel the tour guide rush us thru this tour.
Especially since alot of the walking is up and down hills.

This Bookstore was founded in 1745, and is the one of the very few places operating continuously since then.
It has been a long time since we have browsed in an actual bookstore (Thanks to the pandemic, Amazon and E-Books). We felt a lot of renewed pleasure in doing just that here. We were thrilled to see the huge collection -- from old to new on a variety of topics and subjects that would appeal to a whole range of age groups and interests. There is also one entire area at the back devoted to Christmas. We loved the Ornaments, Moravian Stars and Decorative Items.
So glad to have actually stepped foot in this store, since it was closed on our previous visits over the holidays.
So worth making a trip here …

We walked around for about an hour. We purchased two books which we wer pleased with. This didn't seem historical at all. The staff were very nice and we would visit again

It’s been too long since I’ve been in a “real” bookstore, due to amazon and the internet. I forgot how much I just love browsing in a quiet book shop. This one was a real treat! Great book and gift selections, history and friendly staff.

Nice bookstore with a good children's section. Very friendly environment and the staff is amazing. Keep up the good work.

The Moravian Bookstore is just one of several interesting and historic places in the beautiful town of Bethlehem PA. So much to see, so well organized and such diversity in literature including current textbooks and articles for University classes. The children’s section is wide and varied and the atmosphere of the building itself along with the collection of Moravian stars (many for sale) makes it magical.

Like much of down Bethlehem, the Moravian Book Shop has lost its charm. Prior to the college purchase, the book shop used to offer unique home furnishings, jewelry, and other gifts/ carved wood figures/ clocks/ Christmas items. It now offers Moravian College tee- and sweat- shirts, and craft beer from a local brewer. The bookstore itself is much smaller. Good for college textbooks not much good for everyone else. So disappointing knowing what the store used to offer.

My husband and I are huge book lovers. We were very excited to visit one of the oldest book stores in the US. I understood, and warned my husband, that they apparently added on a gift store and a cafe-we thought we’d have a bite there afterwards. When we walked in we hit the gift shop with Christmas, Bethlehem and college items. Going towards the back of that room it was a full blown college store. To the left it was the ‘cafe’ -to the right a hallway filled with more Christmas items to another part of the store which was the ‘bookstore’ it was filled with toys for kids, games (for adults) and books you can find in any regular bookstore. No used/vintage book section-nothing that would make it to look like a book store from long ago. We were SO let down. We did go to the cafe which the staff seemed overwhelmed and the line was extremely long (it was a busy weekend) The food was very good. However, my 2 ‘stars’ are for the bookstore itself.
