This museum is within walking distance of old Savannah. We arrived at opening time and were given a group tour led by Jasmine who did an excellent job. There are many interesting displays and a 20 minute film on how desegregation was peacefully achieved in Savannah. I was able to ask Jasmine a number of questions about the history of the NAACP and race relations in general. All very informative.

This museum is young in age but filled with history. Located on the self proclaimed’Black Wall Street’ of Savannah, a visit starts with a 20 min video and then a guide showed us around the exhibits, providing additional info and access to some of the museum’s back story.

A very informative and engaging place to learn about the history of the civil rights movement in Savannah, including key local figures and events. Interesting artifacts, stories and exhibits that everyone can understand. Parents, grandparents and teachers should bring their students and children no matter how young they are. Visitors will also learn about Savannah's historic Black business district.

Several floors of information, thoughtfully displayed. Thank you to Jasmine, our docent, who provided insights and patiently answered our questions. This was an important part of our visit to Savannah and well worth the time. Count on spending about 90 minutes to take it all in.

This is a small museum with a lot to learn about. I was shown around by Jasmine, who is extremely knowledgeable about the history of civil rights in Savannah and gave our group plenty of time to look around at the exhibits. I would definitely recommend a visit.

Small, interesting museum. The staff was welcoming. I participated in one of the tours offered by a tour guide, who identified as a historian. This museum provides interesting history on the civil rights in Savannah - a city that was apparently at the forefront of civil rights movement in a very segregated state.
The museum should offer visitors the option of simply touring outside of a guided tour to allow visitors to read the exhibits at their own pace. I felt rushed in certain sections, and then held back in other sections, even at one point being asked to stay in one section even though no one else was in that particular section.
The tour began with a 20 min video about civil rights in Savannah which was interesting and gave a good overview but needs to be updated, the video is likely 20-30 years old. Relatedly, the museum should have an updated section on the 21st century or at least more recent exhibits. The tour guide was friendly, and perhaps new, based on some of the answers provided to some of the questions. I recommend 1 hour at this museum.
The entrance fee for an adult is $14 plus a "fee" - which should be explained.

Really good museum! The staff are friendly and very knowledgeable. It is wheelchair friendly. It is a guided tour that lasts about an hour. I would have liked to have gone back through the museum after the tour and read the many many displays, ( you cant read them during the guided tour). It seems you are not permitted to wander after your group has completed the tour.
