It was an amazing experience to be in the museum. We didn't realize it had 5 buildings, we barely saw 2 in 2 hours. They say it takes 3-4 hours, it's true! I will plan to go (and plan better) next time I am in town.

This may be one of the best museum experiences have ever been to. My wife doesn’t like museums - and she loved it. They had many personal stories which was cool - and a lot of the history on the various battles. We got there by 11:30 - and stayed till almost close of 5:00 (we did take a break waiting for the 4D experience - 30 minutes). While you could get through it in 2-3 hours - what’s the rush. Adding the 4D experience with Tom Hanks is a must.

My wife and I spent one evening (Expressions of America) and the next 2 1/2 days at the museum, and enjoyed every aspect. We got a Campus Pass that included the film “Beyond All Boundaries” as well as the “Arsenal of Democracy” tour (located in the Louisiana Memorial Pavilion), which focuses on the home front. That pass was for a Thursday, and the 2-hour tour by Kelly was fantastic - MUCH more interesting than we expected. I would highly recommend scheduling your visit for mid-week. In our case, we were the only two people on the tour so, it was, in effect, a private tour which gave us time for a lot of give-and take with Kelly. Even at 2-hours we could easily have spent twice that long to read the information and watch the short videos for each display. The movie, “Beyond All Boundaries” was also a great experience, be sure to see it. If you want to stay extra days, the cost is only $7 for a campus pass for each additional day.
On Friday, we took the “Campaigns of Courage” tour with Melinda and 10 other museum visitors. The museum was much more crowded on Friday. That, and the size of the tour group, necessarily meant that we were not able to send as much time as we would have liked on each display, but it did provide a good overview, and we went back the next day to spend more time on some of the displays that we had targeted while on the tour. This tour is much more focused on actual combat during the war in both Europe and the Pacific.
On Saturday, we participated in an “Out of the Vault”tour. That name is a misnomer because you are not moving around the museum at all. Instead, we and 10 others, were taken to the 4th floor of the main museum building, which is off-limits to the public. There, we were led to a conference room, where our guide, Mike Gonzalez, had laid out 30 or more military items used by different nations during WWII. He also had a slide show which included information and photos about each item and their uses. This included uniform items (shirts, pants, jackets, boots, helmets and vests), as well as knives, bayonets, ammo magazines, etc. Each item was passed around the room as he discussed them. The cost for this “tour” was $50 / person, and we thought it was well worth the price.
I will provide more information about “Expressions of America” in a separate review, but I would definitely recommend spending the extra $40 per person to take advantage of the dinner and pre-show activities prior to the actual presentation.
I can’t provide any information about parking other than that the garage is right next to the museum. We stayed at the Higgins Hotel (Hilton Curio), which is associated with the museum. If the main purpose of your visit to N.O. Is to visit the museum, I would highly recommend staying at the Higgins. It is a beautiful, new, property, decorated in art-deco and WWII themes and couldn’t be more convenient, and the staff there is wonderful.

We spent several hours at the WW2 Museum fully engrossed in the immersive experience. Tickets are priced very fairly and a very good value.

Guarde pelo menos 4 horas para esse museu!!! Há tanques, aviões, lanchas de desembarque, cinema 4D, é incrível e, por mais que se tente, não há como descrever essa visita!!! Se estiver em New Orleans não pode perder

This is one of the best museums I've visited in a long time. The care taken to capture what occurred in each theater the U.S. fought in was incredible. Great old planes and vehicles are awesome to check out. A must see in NOLA

Our favorite part of the Museum Experience were the staff of employees and volunteers who were stationed all around the Museum and were extremely gracious and helpful when we lost our way.
It is not an easy place to negotiate because of its size and layout. A handicapped person must have an aide with him or her to help negotiate some of the areas. An older person in a wheelchair might find it difficult to use some of the ramps because of the steepness of them.
My husband served in World War II at the Battle of the Bulge. The dipiction of the Forest in the snow was amazing to him. He said it was just like the real thing.
The staging and the special effects were outstanding.
We were invited to come to the Museum and given VIP treatment. He was interviewed , we had a tour guide and got to see the Movie and the Light show.
We enjoyed meeting guests who wanted to have a picture with him and I would like
to see as many young people as possible to come and learn how great our County
really is.
Thanks to everyone who made this happen.

Wonderful museum that goes over much of wwii and gives basic insight into what happened and why. I hope they keep adding to it and getting into more details. The films were great. I think every person should visit and understand why they are free and what others sacrificed for that freedom.

There is so much to see at the national WWII. This is an excursion you need to spend all day at and even then it may not be enough time to view all of the artifacts and information. This museum has been so carefully curated with information, artifacts, exhibits and details! Video accounts, interactive displays you name it they’ve got it. This is a must see for history buffs and alike.

Loved our experience at this magnificent National Museum! Take your time, block at least 4-5 hrs to make the best of it. And make sure not to t miss the Beyond All Boundaries 4-D movie. It is worth every penny!!

I am not sure. You could always email them or call and ask. I will say that it is very cool in the museum and you might want a sweater, jacket, etc. if you mind the air conditioning.

We have tickets for 11:30 and their movie tickets for 1:00p, are they flexible if we are late. We just were able to get great reservations for 11p for lunch and want to come after that.

You can leave at any time you would like. However, please keep in mind that you could spend 2 days in this museum and not see it all. It is that great!

The Beyond All Boundaries film shows up on their website but does not show up when purchasing advance tickets online. Does anyone know why that is? Are they no longer showing this film?

That is strange. We saw in in August 2021. I would call the Museum to double check. It is worth the effort to find out.

Can you bring food into the theater while watching the “Beyond All Boundaries” to save time? We will have only 3 hours (including lunch) to visit the museum; so we don’t want to waste too much time eating if we can use it to see the exhibits. Thank you

Wow, that's pretty individually dependent. One could spend days in there, as many exhibits have letters, oral histories, etc. The one movie is 50 minutes, and well worth it. Honestly, it becomes a bit emotionally overwhelming, or at least it did to us, and one begins to move on to another exhibit. Not a criticism, just reality. Not much help I know, but not a museum for time management...
