‪A good one-stop-shop to get a good overview
of the history of the area and the battle of
New Orleans.‬

‪Visiting during holiday vacation and took an airboat ride ride with airboatADV. Our guide RANDY was the absolute best. Masks must be worn. What a thrill. Got to hold a baby gator. Saw very little gators because it’s off season but that’s ok. It was great to explore the swamp ‬

‪I stopped while on a trip to NOLA. I am drawn to military historical sites due to my Army background. Nice little indoor museum detailing the Battle of New Orleans. The silence of the battlefield was moving when one considers the lives lost at the site. If in NOLA, please take a drive outside the city and visit this and the neighboring national cemetery to honor our fallen warriors. My buddy and I were especially moved by the cemetery as we are both veterans.‬

‪On the last day we spent in New Orleans’ French Quarter, we decided to visit this wilderness area just to the south. We took the two mile round trip “Bayou Coquille/Marsh Overlook” Trail seeing a bald eagle, 2 alligators and a turtle. We also took the short Visitor Center Trail one mile south of there. At the Visitor Center, cold water, modern toilets & maps were available although the Visitor Center itself was closed.‬

‪What a great day trip from New Orleans! We walked the boardwalk to the end which was about 4 miles round trip. No bugs, beautiful weather! Saw 3 gators, several birds, a nutria, and raccoons. Beautiful place! This is a nature preserve, you do not interact with the animals at all. Any reviews saying that are posted in the wrong buisness.‬

‪This review is off the park that is in Marrero. There is a broad walk from visitor center along with some gravel path that is 4 miles round trip. The four miles include 3 different trails. You can see gaters very up close along with tons of other wildlife. There is much more to do in the park which is about 30 mins drive or less from downtown. Dogs/pets are not allowed. ‬

‪I was referred to this particular swamp tour by a friend who raves about it and the tour did not disappoint! Snagged an INSANE deal on Groupon, too! Our tour guide was Brent, and he was an awesome guide! Very knowledgeable about the land, history, and the wildlife! Obviously, we saw lots of gators, but as a huge bonus, we were also taken to the site of a massive bald eagle’s nest, and saw the adult birds feeding the young from our boat, as well as an overseeing adult perched high on a pole. It was breathtaking to be so close to these beautiful and meaningful birds. The best part for our kids was when Brent produced a baby alligator and passed him around the boat so everyone could hold him and take pics! He was so chill with everyone and didn’t appear stressed at all. My future vet daughter almost cried getting to hold a baby alligator, and it was the highlight of her entire trip! Will visit again on our next trip!!!‬

‪Louisiana has many Jean Lafitte locations. If you are walking in New Orleans, you can find the visitors center. The wildlife areas are out of the New Orleans Riverwalk or French Quarter districts.‬
