Recently visited the museum with friends. It was not as captivating as I had hoped it would be. Basically it’s a typical walk through, read and view memorabilia. Did enjoy their theatre with the film showing scenery in the countries represented. Also, enjoyed hearing about local connections and businesses.

The Nordic museum is worth visiting to learn about the history of the immigrants to the North Pacific West from all the Scandinavian countries ca 150 years ago. Kids would enjoy the Viking exhibit.

Lovely museum and in a part of Seattle worth exploring. Ballard is the home of fishing fleets, so it makes perfect sense to have a Nordic museum there.

This museum is at least a thirty minute drive from where we are staying in Seattle but we decided to give it a chance. The building is very lovely. Parking is cheap right next to it. The exhibits unfortunately are boring. I think it would have been better to have separate exhibits for different countries instead of lumping them together. There is a wall of videos with no sound only subtitles which they likely did so the noise would not disturb other exhibits. It is strange because in one video a woman is singing and banging a drum and you can’t hear her. The cafe was no longer serving food as they need to find a new vendor.

Fancy museum with more than half of exhibits dedicated to woke propaganda. Reducing Nordic culture to a tool for American far left. Heavily biased narratives, selectively omitting history to fit the agenda, some hardly related to Nordic.

I was lucky to visit while they had a traveling display of paintings from scandinavian artists on display. Some gorgeous artwork. The permanent displays are well laid out and informative. Nice videos to view as well .Outside is the Viking ship Nordic Spirit built around 1800 and has some interesting details. Overall an enjoyable visit. Easy walk (10 minutes) from the Ballard Locks and parking is cheaper at the locks .

Walking in and out of each gallery space, I found myself floored by the design, layout, and attention to detail. Clearly, an overarching story was being told here; a story of a proud people with a rich history, shaped by their environment and brought to America with a deep desire to create a better life for themselves. After a couple of hours, I exited the museum with a better understanding of the Nordic states, and a newfound wish to visit them all.

Excellent museum, beautiful architecture inside and outside; Many interesting details in drawers you can pull out, in addition to the videos and still photos with timelines and how the immigrants shaped Seattle to reflect their culture. Equally interesting for the whole family; activities for children are also offered. Visit their new labyrinth that was just unveiled a couple of weeks ago. The gift shop has lots of items to choose from, books, food, textiles and items you would like to display in your home.
Also the Freya restaurant is open with tantalizing food and drink items.
There is parking available for $ 2.00 per hour; if you park at the Locks (10 min. walk) parking is $0.50 per hour.

This is a fantastic museum. Full of interesting artifacts from across history, as well as detailing the converging and diverging paths of the Nordic countries and the sizable immigration to the US. It's modern, clean, and extremely well-maintained. Plus, parking is only $2 an hour, which for Seattle is insanely cheap.
