The big market day is Sunday......Don’t know about July

Saturday and Sunday! Ample parking behind the centre supermarket. Also outside the centre. Walking distance. Visit all the antique shops.

The large market is on Sunday, and is one of the largest in southern France. It starts around 9 AM, some vendors are there earlier, and most close up at 1 PM. You can’t miss it. It covers the entire business district of central L’Ille, focused of the main part of the river and over to the cathedral and down the street where the Hotel de Ville is situated. Arrive in time to obtain a good parking spot, otherwise you will have to walk a few blocks. During the week there is a farmers market, good for grocery shopping, less interesting for tourists, but still neat. There are a lot of Antique stores. Most face the Main Street that goes thru the city center next to the largest part of the river. L’Ille is surrounded by branches of the river, not all are real wide. Some Antique stores focus on the weekends when the most tourists are there. Several times a year the market is combined with a large outdoor antique market too. Sunday is the big market with antiques and everything. A smaller one, without antiques, takes place on every Thursday, if I remember correctly.

Quand il y a le marché de la voiture doit être garée sur le marché. Nous étions quelques heures et nous nous sommes garés dans les frais de stationnement.

We had rented a vehicle and often got lost which can be a good thing. As the other reviewer mentioned, there is a bus that will get you there but with all the small roads, everything takes time. Enjoy L'isle, it's worth the visit.
