‪Do not book with Coco Keys in Omaha. We had a reservation for 7/16/21 that we booked in June 2021. We arrived at the hotel to find out it was completely shut down. (Drove multiple hours and had no place to stay). We had no notification or communication from them. Coco Keys won’t provide a refund for our money. Do not book here.‬

‪We knew when two DEA officers walked in while we were attempting to check in with a large group that we needed to stay elsewhere.

There was no sign out front so we drove right past it. We circled back by driving around an adjacent apartment building. That building had multiple entrances that were literally crumbling with caution tape and shattered windows. There were homeless people sleeping on mattresses next to cars with plastic for windows.

We exited the aptmt parking lot and entered the Coco Key parking lot from S 69th Ave...the sign "Omaha convention center" was broken, windows were shattered and based on the trash in the overgrown parking lot and just inside the structure, homeless were occupying yay space as well. We continued around the back of the building (with caution bc the potholes were so bad and there were waist-high weeds). It was at this point that we saw what clearly was the "water resort" from the outside. One entire section of slide was missing and a gaping hole in the side of the building was left. We looked up at another slide where it exited the building and there was a large gap, with missing bolts and a large puddle of water where operators inside the building had clearly tried to run water through the slide...but the gap meant water and a child who attempted to use the slide would fall through.

We continued to drive around to the south side of the building and it was then that we observed multiple people, many barefoot and not coming from cars or carrying luggage, entering a covered entrance. There were no keys required to enter this part of the building and we were literally the only car anywhere to be seen in the parking lot. I asked my friend who was traveling with me, "if they are hotel guests, where are their vehicles? Why don't they have luggage? And there is no key required for entry."

When we finally reached the front door, more barefoot folks we exiting the building, not going to vehicles, but headed toward the apartments across the street that were in derelict condition. It was at that time that three police cars came screaming into the parking lot & surrounded a car that was parked across the lot from us. They came out, hands on weapons, and questioned and then took into custody the occupants of that car. One of the officers boarded one of our busses and told the driver, "you have to leave. This is not a safe place for you to park." And when the driver stated this was where our group was staying for the next two nights, the officer stated very plainly that was not a safe choice with so many children.

At this point, our two bus loads of elementary aged school children and some parents were observing this scene as well. We told them to wait while we went in and assessed the situation. Mind you, we still hadn't set foot inside the building.

When we did, we discovered "the computers don't actually work," and the only employee to be seen took out a paper map of the property and began assigning room numbers to our rooming list. I asked if we could request our rooms be toward the front of the property, after seeing the south entrance. The employee stated there was currently no electricity or running water in the front portion of the hotel.

This is when I went back out to my car and began calling other properties for our group. When I returned to the front desk to tell our two parents who we're still waiting at the front desk that I had found other accommodations, two armed DEA agents walked through the front door. After we had asked some pointed questions regarding this property, they did state the fact that this property was a location they visited almost daily, to apprehend known dealers who lived on property.

By this time, our group leader had obtained keys to rooms while I had been confirming arrangements elsewhere. But she decided to go ahead and start moving families and kids into rooms because we had made dinner arrangements and we didn't want to miss them after a long trip to this destination.

Three of our 26 rooms were literally being lived in. Our keys worked in the doors and each was occupied with families or groups of people who clearly had been living or squatting there for some time. Our room had been occupied earlier as well. There was food in the microwave, stains on the sheets, a large dark brown stain on the floor and splatters on the wall & ceiling and a bathroom that is too disgusting to describe in detail. Others had similar descriptions of their rooms.

There were used needles and mounds of trash in the hallways, as well as dirty diapers. There were men standing in hallways, smoking and staring as our children walked by. And there was a sign on the door stating specific food in certain colored labels in hallway refrigerators were for certain homeless residents from a specific program.

This building may have had a heyday, but it is now being used as cheap or free housing for the homeless.

We did not unpack, let alone stay here.

I would strongly advise anyone against visiting this place. It was dangerous, filthy and should not be advertised as a hotel.‬

‪We came to this indoor water resort for a fun winter staycation. The water park itself was okay, though falling into a little disrepair. The rooms are small & really dated. The mattress was extremely uncomfortable. Across the board we received the worse service I've ever had at a hotel. The staff literally doesn't care about the lodgers. When we checked in the counter staff did not tell us what our room number was. She handed me the card keys, no envelope with the room number, no map, nothing said verbally. And then she had the audacity to tell me to "move along". I had to ask her if she could at least tell me my room number. Later when asking for an extra pillow the front desk staff person wouldn't even look up from her phone & just said "We don't have any." Over night each night they leave the side doors open with signs that read "leave door open." These are the doors that have the key card swipes on them - leaving the hotel accessible to anyone who wants to come in. A very unsafe practice. See attached photo of sign I will not be staying here again anytime soon. ‬

‪We were there the Saturday before mothers day. The place was not kept clean . We were having fun until the power went out. We were there less than an hour. They started issuing refunds until the computer system went down, they took our named and number . We hadn't heard from them. We have called numerous times about our refund and no returned call. We didn't pay $75 to swim less than an hour.‬

‪We arrived with two school buses of students excited to spend the weekend at the hotel & water park. We were met in the lobby by Omaha police who told us that this was not a safe environment & we needed to leave. As we were leaving we saw DEA (drug enforcement agency) arriving.
Turns out, this hotel is being used to house homeless people & there is rampant crime happening in the hotel.
The hotel gave our group no information regarding this & we drove 3 hours. Thankfully the Hampton Inn had enough rooms for our group.‬

‪Kids had fun but WOW, the experience definitely was a pitfall. Kids who are rude everywhere, no lifeguard or ANYBODY to keep standards on playing on the equipment right or bullying kids. The staff is either all worried about their friends or phones. This place is an absolute joke. Save your money and throw the kids a rad bubble bath at home.‬

‪Overall the kids had a blast, however if we were to go again I would have done things a bit different. The food is very overpriced for what you get and we had to wait well over 20 minutes for it after waiting in line for over 20 minutes. They ran out of ketchup, yes ketchup at a kids resort, so several families were very upset about this which sounds petty but when you spend $50 on hotdogs and French fries, it’s crazy. Next time I would bring in my own food as there is literally no staff around except for by the big slide to check if you did or not. There were no towels left which was just the cherry on top. Very dirty and low staffed.‬

‪Filthy, Food and garbage everywhere. I've never seen anything like it. The lifeguards were difficult to identify and there were not enough of them.‬
