‪Great Year round Kayak Instruction‬

‪I don't live in Richmond but have family here so I did an extended visit to take the Fall Line Mastery Course (whitewater Kayaking on the James River) in August, and just came back in November for a roll clinic in the pool. Love all the instructors and being able to pick up where I left off. Whether you want a once in a lifetime experience of taking a weekend kayak class or a single raft trip, or want to take up kayaking as "your" sport, RVA Paddlesports is where you want to get started.‬

‪Great day out on the water!‬

‪RVA Paddlesports helped support our school's outdoor program with a 2-hour flatwater kayaking trip from Deep Bottom Park. Our group was made up of 10 high school students and 2 chaperones and we had 2 knowledgeable and experienced guides. Students were instructed on how to paddle, the equipment was in great condition, and everyone was looked after well. The area we paddled had lots of natural beauty and I would definitely take a group back next fall. Two hours was just enough time for our group.‬

‪Amazing Time! Would Choose Them Again.‬

‪Wow. What an experience! I'm a Girl Scout leader from Charlottesville, and I took six 14-year-olds on this trip to Richmond. They had an AMAZING time. The guides were fantastic and even pointed out really cool landmarks on our trip. We opted for lunch, and they did a great job with providing a great lunch. We also asked if they could help us coordinate a service project on our trip to help clean up the river, and they were more than happy to help us do that. I cannot recommend these folks enough. Friendly, knowledgeable, and all around great company to work with!‬

‪Richmond's James River Experience‬

‪My sister and I enjoyed it very much. We had a pretty day (water was low). Dave was a knowledgeable guide and we learned about the area and he pointed out bald eagles and other things along the way. Always felt safe; it was a great time.‬

‪A marvelous time‬

‪Our entire family went ! We had a beautiful day. the guide was extremely skilled and made us all feel comfortable. We were in a raft with two people we didn't know, but we worked together really well . the entire adventure was fantastic! I highly recommend this experience with Paddlesport RVA!‬

‪Unique river ecosystem experience‬

‪I and - at my urging - 4 friends signed up for the Atlantic Sturgeon Flatwater Kayak tour. My friends and I were unanimous that: (1) it was a gorgeous day; (2) we got to see "flying" sturgeon as advertised; and (3) we thoroughly enjoyed this UNIQUE trip.
Shout out to our guide, Julia T, who treated us as welcome guests in her home. She answered all of our questions and checked in appropriately on our needs throughout the trip. Though the window is small for this excursion as it is in sync with spawning season, I recommend this trip for future Septembers or other James River flatwater trips overall.‬

‪A beautiful ride‬

‪We had such a great time on our private white water raft trip! Even though it was a little cloudy, our guide was amazing and so knowledgeable about all of the water features. The rapids were mild, so this activity could be for anyone! The James River Park System is so gorgeous and an absolute oasis in the middle of a great city. I love that we were encouraged to swim and even jumped off rocks and the water was so warm. Absolutely a must for anyone visiting RVA!‬

‪Fantastic rafting trip!‬

‪We took a group of 5 people for a rafting trip. We had safety training during the ride to the output as well as after we got there. I felt very well prepared. We got suited up in the PFDs and helmets. Then we put out. Our guide told us about the area as well as told us when to paddle. We went through calm water and then rapids. We "surfed" at 1 of the bigger rapids and that was the best fun! Unknown to us, they had a photographer taking pictures for most of the trip so afterwards we got an email with many candid shots. I would highly recommend RVA Paddlesports. We will definitely be back!‬
