Cliftonhill is one of Scotland’s oldest football stadiums, home to Albion Rovers, the stadium currently goes by the title of the Reigart Stadium for sponsorship purposes, and is probably Coatbridge’s second most recognisable landmark behind the Time Capsule swimming baths.
Located just under half an hour walk from Coatdyke train station, it’s not too far a walk, but perhaps worth looking into driving to.
Once you get there it is certainly one of the more distinct arenas in the Scottish game. Looking like a cross between a Tyre garage and a 90s McDonalds, it is striking if nothing else. Indeed, as much as it’s far from one of the more aesthetically pleasing grounds, I do appreciate the fact that they’ve coated everything they could in yellow and red paint. Gives it some character if nothing else.
It holds just over one and a half thousand spectators officially. I’m not exactly certain how that works though, as there is one covered main stand (where the roof is in 2 parts), one exposed terrace and a second main stand that doesn’t open. I’m not sure if this counts towards the total capacity, which would be a bit sly given it looks like it should be condemned. Behind the other goal is a bit of grassy wasteland where I suppose you could stand if you wanted.
Incredibley, the base of some old floodlights are left standing, which gives it a wonderfully post-apocalyptic feel.
Incredibly, the catering, while basic, is actually pretty good. I mean it’s just pies, but they are good pies, and fairly priced.
There’s no way of sugar coating it, Cliftonhill is a far from a great stadium. A bit of a dump actually, but it does have an undeniable charm to it. It’s far from good, yet at the same time I’d rather go back here than a lot of the soulless sheds in the top flight

The home of Albion Rovers FC this stadium is just over a century old. It's quirky and different to just about every other football ground. A friendly atmosphere at games without segregation and smallish crowds welcome you. The pie shop sells reasonably prices delicacies so you wont go hungry or thirsty.

Went to Cup tie v StMirren Surprisingly good crowd. Thanks to the four young lads behind us for pointing out all the players and even doing some italian translations on their phones for one of the players Mums to let her know he had got Man of the Match Sadly they lost on Pens but enjoyable evening including the Pie and Bovril

I visited Cliftonhill last Friday on my way from Glasgow to Edinburgh. I was hoping to gain access to the ground to take some photographs but as I was arriving unannounced I would have been happy to snap away from outside the fence at what must surely be the brightest-looking stand in British football.
When I arrived the external gate was open so I went and started taking photos of the various sections of the ground, all the time waiting for whoever was already in the stadium to invite me to clear off.
As the impromptu visit proceeded, I realised that I needed the toilet. At that moment the gentleman who had obviously opened the external gate was coming out of the stand. He didn't hesitate when I asked if it was possible to use the gents and he showed me through to the dressing room toilet. It was a kind (and much appreciated!) gesture and an act of friendliness which I've recently begun to appreciate is so typical of Albion Rovers.
I will be back - hopefully many times.

This trip to Cliftonhill was the first on my sojourn around Scottish Clubs outside the Premiership.
This is how grounds once were, friendly with two sets of Supporters ( Elgin City) both supporting their teams.
Elgin won 0-1 and there was not one dive throughout the whole game. Good honest endeavour.

I love the charm of Cliftonhill. Recently visited to see a Belhaven cup-tie against Ayr. Althought the home support was small in numbers, it was clear to see that the fans had great passion for their club. The club chairman even took time out to welcome us to Albion Rovers. They deserve the support of the local community. The ground itself is very ramshackle but it does have a certain charm. Give me grounds like Cliftonhill over Old Trafford anyday.

Best ground in Scotland . Took my boy there recently . Can’t wait for the new season 👍👍. Super friendly . Great atmosphere . Mon the Rovers .

I was here for Raith Rovers v Albion Rovers. Good game. As for the stadium, being kind I would say it has "character" as a traditional Scottish football stadium. It was good to be on a terracing again. If I was being less generous, I'd say it was a dump with basic facilities and run down toilets. The main terrace is shut.

Cliftonhill is unique in its own way. It stands proud over 100 years old and definitely has that family feel about it. The maturity of the stadium is its beauty and where the best football is played. It doesn’t have any mod cons and where it lacks in these it exudes in atmosphere and history with some very famous players coming up the tunnel, past and present. The stadium is charismatic outside and in, hosting a well hidden but much loved hospitality lounge which is opened for chosen games throughout the year. If it’s a family experience you’re after with down to earth exciting football on the pitch, this is the place your after. The ground also boasts a well stocked shop enhancing the match day experience and handy for those little extra Christmas gifts

The home of Albion Rovers is not the best. This stadium that is built into the side of a hill is rather run down and untidy. Not much more you can say really, other than at least it is still in existence. It really is in need of a good tidy up and a good lick of paint would not go amiss but I suppose finances are very tight here.
