The Obelisk itself is not too impressive.
It is rather close to the circular walk and easy to access.
The view is splendid.
Worth a visit if in the area.

This monument stands in tribute to Henry Dundas, the Viscount Melville whose political power was such that he earned the epitaph the Uncrowned King of Scotland. Although it should be said that he faithfully served the House of Hanover. The monument is a simple obelisk and stands about 20 metres tall. It looks much bigger though as it stands atop a hill. Getting to Melville Monument can be done as a walk along with another local attraction called the Deil's Cauldron.
The ascent to Melville Monument can begin opposite the steps down to Deil's Cauldron, which is the route I took, but it's a steep and hard climb. The locals tell me of an easier circuitous route though. The summit provides a fine viewpoint of the area surrounding Dun More Hill.

It is quite a strenuous walk up to the monument from the Deil’s Cauldron across the road but it is well worth the walk. The views across Strathearn in both directions are simply stunning. Heading off the summit northwards gives a much gentler ascent and a circular return back to Comrie.

Went a walk up here when having a doggy vacation. When we got to the top. Oh my what a view! The terrain was rough in parts and we went back down via the Deils cauldron. Definitely a place to visit.

Lovely summit and hills. Very flat in parts and a gorgeous fresh walk in all weathers. Must wear boots or trainers, As rugged terrain.
Went a wee way up only though. Defo worth visiting when passing thru. **.

Been a couple of years since the last time we hiked to the top, but well worth it on a nice clear day... We took a different route up this time, but still took the really steep route back down, not advisable for the faint hearted !!

Fantastic views great walk up from the village steady uphill from the start with some steap sections but well worth the effort

Walked up to visit monument after walk to see Deil's cauldron. A steep but short pull up through forest, there is an easier route if you keep following on road a bit further. Well worth the effort for the fantastic views. A great spot to stop and eat your packed lunch.

A steep climb to the monument through pretty woodlands. Some of the path is clear but people have tried to take short cuts which has made the path hard to follow in places. The monument is not worth seeing, but the view from the top is great. Boots or sturdy shoes are needed.

I decided to visit the Melville Monument while enjoying our stay in Comrie. I took the road up and it was an easy walk until the final path leading up to the monument. It was a bit slippery however was navigable.
The view is quite nice although the monument itself has been neglected and the foliage is starting to take over. I spent about fifteen minutes enjoying the view and following the points on the marker to look toward Crieff and the various mountains.
On the descent, I chose the trail past The Deil's Cauldron which is a nice quiet walk and I did not need to be on the lookout for cars.
Nice two hours spent outdoors.
