Awesome service. Boat driver was great (super nice young Kiwi woman). Even with the trail opening, taking the water taxi over to see cathedral cove was great. The views are great. Going to Cathedral Cove is a must. Beautiful beach

They were very accommodating and let us stay as long as we wished. They even helped us on a rescue mission for our drone where we lost the drone on a neighbouring beach. They took us to that beach, and helped look for the drone without affecting any other customers. Awesome crew!

The water taxi is the absolute best way to get to Cathedral Cove! Hayden was super friendly and knowledgeable about the area and we got to spend an hour at the cove exploring on the beach. Super easy to book. Just show up at Hahei beach and you’ll see him parked on the sand right at the base of the stairs. Pay the fee and climb on board. The water taxi departs every half hour. This was the highlight of our trip and an absolute stunning must see area!

It is a simple but very good experience, they gather people, put them in a boat that is parked in the sand, the boat is amphibious, therefore it has wheels to start and then sail. You get dropped off at Cathedral Cove and enjoy the beach for an hour and then return to Hahei Beach. The staff is very friendly, Sofia was the one who drove the boat was very friendly.
Now that the Cathedral Cove trail is closed it is a very good choice for an experience that includes the boat ride and the beach visit.

This trip was super nice. They are very clear about their operation over automated message and easy to follow. Easy to organize as no prior booking was needed. The staffs were very helpful.

Based on previous reviews, you can see the steep increase in price. I find it a bit ridiculous to allow someone a monopoly to charge whatever they want and rob tourists of an experience, but $80 pp for adult and $60 for a child for a one hour trip is pretty pricey for a family of 6.

Although Cathedral cove is beautiful this is price gauging at its best . The price has only gone up to 80$ from 10$ because the path to walk it is closed

First off? the walking track is closed and no one knows when it will be reopened. So if you want to actually set foot on Cathedral Coves Sandy beach? Read on.....
Hayden runs the service and is one of the nicest guys one can meet. Turns out he was educated for a while, very close to where we live in the UK. Very knowledgeable and even pointed out a blue penguin for us and stopped the boat for us to see it swimming about.
Hayden is the ONLY boat that will currently actually drop you off at Cathedral Cove so you can walk on the beach. That is if Kayaking isn't your thing. He leaves you there an hour before returning to collect you. We were incredibly lucky and privileged to be the only couple on the beach once the Kayakers had departed. We had 30 mins of solitary peace with the cove which was something I doubt we will ever repeat.
Other boats pull into the cove but do not dock and you can see them all thinking "how have they got on there?"
Hayden's prices are very fair and less than other companies we looked at. You drive to the beach, he sets up around 10am, you board his (nearly new) boat and he tells you about the area, what to do and what not to do and what wildlife he's seen lately.
I cannot stress this point enough...... Go with Hayden's Cathedral Cove Taxi service and you will not be disappointed.

The path closure (due to cyclone) brought us to the water taxi but we loved it! Seeing the beach empty was a preferable pristine and natural view. I highly recommend it! It was easy and required no planning or preparation.

As Cathedral Cove is closed for the forseeable future, going by boat is the only way to see it. Cathedral Cove Water Taxi will take you out for a 30 minute tour and Hayden provides amazing commentary along the way. The price is $40 p.p. and is worth every penny! It leaves from Hahei Beach every
30 mins starting at 10am.
