Amazing views, really good value for time and with a special treat at the end! The crew were wonderful both in the lead up and on the day - going the extra mile with to recommend best times, directions, and overall experience. Lots of fun historical, geological and interesting facts during the tour. Will definitely come back again!

Had such an amazing time on the water! Great views and a great day. Andy was an incredible guide and very informative! Mike was extremely helpful getting the tour organized. Thank you so much, definitely recommend!

We had a great kayak trip with our guide Hayden! The weather conditions were perfect, the kayaking was a lot of fun and we also learned lots about the Maori culture. Cathedral cove was just one of many highlights, we also saw stingrays and a seal. We stopped at one beach for a break and our guide made coffee and hot chocolate for us. I would definitely recommend this trip!

We throughly enjoyed our kayak trip. Our leader Hayden was the best we have experienced and we have been on more than two dozen kayak trips aver the last 10 years.
Hayden was personable and extremely knowledgeable in regards to the geography, culture, history and natural environment of the area. He also explained all aspects of the use of equipment and areas to be visited in a clear and concise manner.
The kayaks and equipment were well maintained and showed their interest in maintaining a safe and care free experience for all members of the excursion. The excursion was wonderful and well planned out with many interesting and beautiful sites to see. The coffee / tea / hot chocolate break mid way through the paddle was great and enjoyed by all.
I highly recommend everyone interested in taking in the site of Cathedral Cove and the coastal area making up this marine preserve to experience these areas though partaking in this Kayak tour.

Andy is a legend!! The tour was amazing and we'll worth the $$$. Andy is so knowledgeable and passionate about his job.
I had my two children and he made them feel so comfortable.

Our guide Andy was Awesome!... First time on the ocean in kayaks and he made us feel at ease from the very beginning, even when we strayed off course a few times. Cathedral Cove is a must see from the ocean... The scenery is picturesque and Andy's local knowledge adds to the experience. If you're thinking about it... Just do it!

Absolutely stunning! Kayaking in the open ocean can be intimidating, but our tour guide (Haiden) made things so smooth and easy. He also shared a lot of historical knowledge about Cathedral Cove and made an excellent cappuccino for us afterwards. 10/10 would recommend this tour

Excellent day, knowledgeable guide. Clear instructions, perfect day. The operators contacted us to inform us of bad weather on our original planned trip. It was wonderful they gave us options to reschedule for better weather.

We had an incredible kayak experience. Our guide Andy was brilliant; knowledgeable and patient with our family's 'total beginner' level. We saw so much wildlife (snappers, sting ray, seal and penguin). We felt completely safe, comfortable and the trip is the highlight of our tour of the North Island. The sun shone and the water was so clear. Thank you!

This trip has been a highlight. The scenery is majestic and the team takes brilliant care of you. Even though we couldn’t land on the beach due to government restrictions, you can get close to it and appreciate it in all its beauty. Andy the guide was extremely knowledgeable, helpful and provided plenty of good stories and laughs! Would definitely recommend this to others.

Hi, you just call them and book it. They Need your creditcard number to confirm. it starts Right at the beach in hahei.
they have three different tours, one to Cathedral Cove, one to the other side of the bay, and one there you go to both sides.
we r fr hk, may find it cold during kayak. what is range of temperature in mid may? do we need to bring swimwear, we dont have anything for kayaking during cold front

We wore just normal gym clothes. You don’t get too wet as there is a protective thing over your seat and around you.
Is the full day tour really worth the extra money compared to the classic one? Meaning do you really see different things or go out further into the ocean?

The following is taken from the Kayak Tours FAQ page..
The Cathedral Cove Classic heads north of Hahei Beach and explores the Marine Reserve and Cathedral Cove. The Remote Coast Tour heads south of Hahei and explores the volcanic coast between Hahei and Hot Water Beach including the blowhole. The full day tour is a combination of both tours. The Remote Coast tour covers coastline that is more exposed than the area explored on the Cathedral Cove Classic. This means the Remote Coast tour is more weather and sea dependent than the Classic tour.

Hi - we were at Cathedral Cove in early December 2016, so quite a different season (as noted by the previous comment). As it's autumn, it will probably be moderate temperature-wise, but the weather may be more changeable. I would contact the provider, and ask about the weather and level of bookings. It is an amazing place - so very beautiful and peaceful. Enjoy your NZ holiday :-) Robyn
I have never gone kayaking before. So I was wondering how physically strenuous it was, and whether you would recommend it to kayaking newcomers?

Absolutely no experience necessary and just a moderate level of fitness is required. If you can walk around a busy airport, lift your luggage into a taxi and walk the stairs at your accomodation then you'll be fine on the kayak trip!

We are planning on visiting Waiteti Trout stream park in mid May. Will we be able to fly fish that time of year? Will the Trout man be available to book with ? My family is very excited to be visiting NZ this May, the North Island looks beautiful.
